Description

The space

See our other luxurious villas here:

(Villa Chandra at Surya Kembar) 3 Bedroom: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2450336

(Joglo Villa with view- Ubud) 2 Bedroom: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1645239

This luxurious garden villa is truly a unique find! When I built this villa, I wanted to draw upon the woodcarving and painting expertise of my fellow village members, and so I decorated it with original Balinese art, hand-made furniture, and detailed architecture (in many cases I utilized reclaimed, recycled wood). The villa is surrounded by exquisite green garden walls, offering privacy yet a feeling of lush garden serenity.

The kitchen, dining and living room are combined into a single spacious area and are surrounded by sliding and folding glass doors that allow for open living or an enclosed air conditioned space. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, oven, refrigerator, blender, coffee maker, toaster, etc….There is bar seating for four and the dining table seats six. The living room offers a couch, lounge and a flat screen cable television. There are also a number of places for lounging outside – on the deck, under the garden bale, or on the loungers next to the natural stone pool.

The large master bedroom offers a super king size bed, additional couch and table, tv with cable television, plentiful closet space and a luxury en suite bathroom. A second bedroom has two twin beds that can be combined into a king bed, a smaller desk area and couch seating (a small child can sleep on the couch in either bedroom). A second garden bathroom can be accessed via a door out the bedroom or through the folding glass doors surrounding the living room and kitchen area. Both bedrooms offer fan and air conditioner. We also have a safety deposit box.

The villa is located amongst rice paddies on a village road in a quiet setting, yet is only a few minutes drive from the cultural center of Ubud. You can also take your time and walk into town to really get a sense of the area and the daily life of the Balinese. The villa's position to the south of Ubud makes it easy to take day trips to the beaches in Sanur, Seminyak, or Kuta without any of the traffic of town. Each day the local priest’s wife places offerings in and around the property to bring a good spirit and great smells to the area. The local banjar (community meeting place) is just a short walk down the road, and one can sometimes hear the faint sounds of the village gamelan practicing as the sun (email hidden) is magical! Many of my family and friends are mask-makers, wood carvers, musicians and dancers, and I am happy to introduce those wishing to learn some of the Balinese arts.

The property shares a parking area and fully trained team staff with three other villas on site. The price includes daily maid service, linens and towels, wireless internet, cable television, and daily breakfast.

Airport transfer, driver to other attractions, massage, private yoga classes, traditional Balinese meals (made by the most renowned cook in the village, my mom!), laundry, rental cellphone, rental motorbike, and babysitting can be arranged for an additional fee.
Babycots/cribs and car seats also available for no charge.

Being Balinese myself, I am always open to speak with guests about Bali's rich culture and religion, and can offer tips about unique things to see and do. The Ubud area offers a number of great performances, the monkey forest, and exquisite temples, and I am happy to inform guests of authentic ceremonies and celebrations happening during their stay.

Low season price is $200 per night with a minumum stay of 2 nights.

High Season (December 15-January 15; July and August) is $250 per night with a minimum stay of 3 nights.

If you know you will stay for a week or more, I am open to negotiation :)

House Rules
Check in is anytime after 2PM

Guests staying in the villa are expected to treat the villa as if it were their own. Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by adults. Smoking is allowed, but only outside, and it is expected that cigarette butts will be disposed of properly. Since the villa is located in a small, quiet village, it is expected that guests will be respectful of their Balinese neighbors who have small children. Loud parties and excessive drinking are not advised (go into town to one of the many great bars! We can arrange for you to be picked up or dropped off). If a guest is being too loud, on-site security will politely ask that you quiet down and remind you of the promise made to be respectful when renting the villa. Any damage will be assessed and may potentially lead to a guest losing part or all of their security deposit. Upon check-in be prepared to show your passport so that we may register you as a guest. Cheers!

I just can't say enough about this was like a dream come true! We had booked a villa that was a bit of a disaster and needed to relocate. After looking at a few places, we happened into Surya Kembar and felt like we had entered a dream! The location was perfect, the staff was perfect, and our hosts were perfect! It was so nice having a restaurant on the premises to either visit and sit by stunning rice fields and coy, or have our meals delivered to our room, where we could roll out of bed and plunge into a beautiful private pool:) I have absolutely nothing but positive feedback for this villa if you are looking in Ubud. If I return to Bali, which I hope to, I will absolutely stay here!!!

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. It was a real highlight of our time in Bali, and one of the most beautiful places I have stayed in a long while. The villa is slightly out of the main city of Ubud, in a secluded absolutely quiet area perfect to get away. The lush trees, perfect blue sky and sunshine from the pool are near as you come to paradise. Combine that with beautiful design, great air conditioning (in bedrooms and public spaces), delicious breakfast included and a friendly responsive group of people running the villa - and I can't recommend it highly enough. As one example, on the last day we had a late flight and after check out they let us have access to another room that was free for the night where they allowed us to shower and spend time by the rainforest - for no extra cost or hassle. Really can't thank them enough!

Really great property with outstanding service from the staff. We had a family of 4 (2 small kids) and everyone loved the villa and the area in general. Oka and his team are extremely helpful with coordinating tours, transportation, meals - basically whatever you need. We stayed a few days in Nusa Dua after this and the whole family wanted to go back to Ubud and this villa...

Superb is an understatement... Friendly, laid back staff are on hand for your every need, location is perfect (just outside the hustle and bustle) All the modern luxuries yet blends perfectly into the natural environment. Amazing chef is on hand, woke up to delicious breakfast every morning, cold Bintang always stocked in fridge. Oka was a fantastic host making us feel right at home as soon as we arrived. We liked it so much we changed our plans and stayed right up to the end of our holiday. Highly recommend! I want to live there.

The villa is 5 min out of Ubud so the location is perfect for a quite getaway, anytime you need to go into ubud, Oka's staff are there to take you, Oka has great knowledge on the local area and suggested some of the best resturants / cafés and general things to do in Ubud we are looking forward to organising another trip back to Oka's villa soon. My daughters and I loved staying at the Garden Villa. It is clean, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. Oka was the perfect host--very knowledgeable about Ubud and his staff is so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast that was made for us each morning. They helped us with communicating with the airlines for our lost luggage. Their extra services (at a reasonable cost) including a driver, laundry, picking up take away food for dinner made our trip so much easier and enjoyable. Whatever we needed, they were there to help. I would definitely go back and stay at the Garden Villa. Highly recommended.

Hi! My name is Oka and I am a villa designer and artist from Bali, Indonesia. For many years I travelled around America and the Carribean working on cruise ships, but now I have settled back home in Bali with my wife Dayu and my son Gustu. As a young boy I was a woodcarver and pottery designer and have since combined my interests in art and hospitality to design unique villas around Bali. My family is also of the Brahman, priestly caste in Bali, and I grew up learning about all of the unique and intricate aspects of Balinese culture, religion, and art from my father. In addition to being passionate about creating unique villas and art, I am also passionate about sharing information about my home-- the island of the gods-- Bali. I was once hired to do a Canadian National Geographic-like program called Departure indonesia season 3- Ring of fire and Departure indonesia season 3- A home away. You can look me up in these films!
I can't wait to share with you! -Oka
