Set within an exclusive part of Southsea next to Canoe Lake this quiet and upmarket character flat has a spacious bedroom with a new double bed to rest your weary head.
Equipped also with a new mattress topper and fresh linen, this makes for a very comfortable place to lay down your weary head. A lovely place to stay in a nice, clean apartment. Bathroom and toilet to be shared, but, as you can see from the pictures, I keep a tidy home.
The Space cont'd
I am more than suitably equipped to host the discerning traveller. Naturally there will be clean towels, a hairdryer and good wireless internet connection.
Breakfast will normally comprise cereals, toast, jams, yoghurt, fruit, coffee or tea. Depending upon the time of your stay I may be able to provide you with other home-made cuisine at an additional fee.
Bags or other personal belongings may be left if convenient and at a surcharge from midday the day prior to check-in or until 18.00 the day following check-out.
I have travelled widely all over the world and lived in Colombia, Nicaragua, India and the Middle East. I enjoy meeting new people and airbnb is a wonderful platform for that. Please see previous positive reviews from guests hosted.
N.B. For GPS/sat nav users please note the property is in Southsea not Portsmouth.
There is off-road parking if required. Fratton Station is approximately a 20 minute walk although an inexpensive taxi ride. The number 1 bus stops on the adjacent Festing Road and arrives at Gunwharf Quays in approximately 10 minutes. The number 2 bus can be caught on the nearby Albert Road and goes to Portsmouth city centre and then Gunwharf Quays. This is a very attractive neighbourhood and a clean and safe area.
A few pointers on local facilities and amenities: if you could throw a stone a few hundred metres then you might hit the seafront. Staying here you are right by Canoe Lake (1 minute walk) and the popular Albert Road, with its unusual shops, bars and restaurants is also accessible by foot (3 minute walk). Palmerston Road or Marmion Road shopping areas can be reached within 20-25 minutes on foot. Gunwharf Quays is just over a couple of miles distance, as is The Hard for ferry access to Gosport, Isle of Wight, France and Guernsey but everything is fairly close by in Pompey.
For local culture you have the D-Day Museum on the seafront as well as the Portsmouth City Museum (Museum Road) and the Maritime Museum (for HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and the Warrior) which is close by the Hard. Theatres include the Kings (Albert Road) and the historic Theatre Royal in the city centre. Port Solent is worth a visit with its first-class marina, bars, restaurants, cafes and shops. Wonderful walks along the seafront may include Southsea Castle and the Hoverport to the Isle of Wight. Surrounding Portsmouth are many beautiful spots such as Fishbourne Roman Palace, the village of Bosham, Chichester and Petersfield.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I hope to hear from you and host you soon.
As stated above.
Interaction with Guests
As much as I can pending upon other commitments.
No smoking. No admittance of foods purchased outside.
I had a great 4 night stay over the easter break, visiting the many tourist attractions in Portsmouth as well as a day trip to the Isle of Wight. Asaph is an experienced host, so making you feel very at ease. He is also incredibly welcoming and accommodating putting up with my late evening arrival because of a delayed train then making me a honey, lemon and ginger drink for my cough! He also really shares his home which is very generous of him. The room and flat are spacious, clean and exactly as in the pictures, I cannot recommend enough
He was friendly and room was clean.
I shared a lot of stories about him and football.
Gave me a ride to the train station the next morning.
Asaph was friendly and welcoming. The whole palce was clean and tidy, and there were enough information on the area and internet is good. Asaph respects the privacy of his tenants, but at the same time he makes you feel really comfortable. The room is spatious. The neighbourhood is great, convenient for walks by the sea and close to Albert Road and even at the commercial centre of Southsea. A great first impression of the area.
Asaph was a more than accommodating host. The flat was clean and tidy and I felt most welcome, even for the sole night I was there. Recommend to anyone.
Was a pleasure to stay with Asaph, making me feel extremely welcome in his home. He'd prepared a lot before my visit with bus routes and general housekeeping information printed before I arrived. Room was a bit bigger than the pictures suggests and a very comfortable bed, better than my one at home.
Didn't have much time to chat as our plans didn't align much, but when I did he was great to chat to. Definitely would recommend staying here.
The area: Good location near the Albert Road with many good pubs and a Co-Op several minutes away. Southsea seafront is also close in the opposite direction. For my first visit here I found the roads very easy to navigate.
Magnificent accommodation! Big, clean, tidy and comfortable, we would want to stay inside! Indoors, we are welcomed with a lot of attention by a perfect, nice and cultivated host. Asaph made me immediately comfortable and made all that he could to help me to enrich my stay. Moreover his apartment is very well placed, near the beach and in the midle of a beautiful environment .
Asaph is a genial host. I arrived rather late, and tired from cycling, but he (a) made me feel welcome and (b) was not offended that I went out for a stroll (plus swift pint) in what is a pleasant neighbourhood.
His flat is very comfortable, and exemplary in its cleanliness. ( I came away with resolutions to improve my own standards at home. ) The photo perhaps makes the bedroom look smaller than it actually it is.
All in all, highly recommended.

Happy to accommodate when possible.
