Wake up to Mother Nature!
We have several flat grassy areas in the garden and orchard that make great campsites. We can only accommodate tents. Water is available from a hose, and the house is nearby with bathroom and kitchen. Everything is shared with other guests and residents.
BYOE, that's bring your own everything, tents, pads, sleeping bags, towels, flashlights, etc.
We also offer a large greenhouse/garden room that is suitable for camping with or without a tent. Guests have been known to hang their hammocks and stay a while.
You will find more details about our home in our main listing, "Pause and Reflect at Voss Gardens." (click the picture of the tomatoes) Although we adore dogs, they will need to be leashed at all times because of the tender greens in the garden beds. There's plenty of room to run nearby.
Staying at Voss Gardens was a treat. My mother and I spent a few days traveling through Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Big Sur and spent a Friday night at Voss Gardens.
Eden has an extensive background in the hospitality industry and it shows! Eden is a very friendly and welcoming host. Little homemade cookie were left in our room, and a small pull-out bed was provided for me in the room so that my mom could have the full-sized bed to herself.
Eden was very flexible with check-in and check-out times. We arrived after dark - drive slowly as the roads are windy and not well-lit - but Eden provided thourough directions on finding the house. My mom and I left very early in the morning for a kayak tour and Eden provided coffee, tea, and homemade bread for fuel. We returned after the tour to an amazing lunch. Eden used fresh greens and flowers from her garden for a salad, and we had a meal of quiche, hash browns, and bacon, with berries and cream for dessert, out on her deck overlooking the garden and surrounding forest.
Eden really does have a unique and special house in the middle of the forest, with lots of windows for sunlight. Recommended as a unique and immersive alternative to the hotels in the nearby city!
Amazing days which I had there. The place is wonderful, the host (Eden) very considerated and always really kind as her husband Craig. I was looking for a place to barbecue Argentinian way and be in peace, I got those things and more. I got more what I was looking for and I´ll be always thanks about it. I didn´t know the place, I didn´t know her but since the very first moment we met the energy was possitive and it seems we were friends for years. I will definitely be back some day.
My experience at the lovely hillside home of Eden and Craig was magical! Hand-built by Craig's family when he was growing up there in the 70s, it's a sprawling and exceedingly comfortable architectural gem of a home with extensive terraced gardens for Eden's side business supplying veggies for a local arts colony and her spectacular meals for her guests, friends and family. The house has the best kitchen I have ever seen, numerous decks looking out over a valley to mountain views, and is perched above a winding redwood-forested road just minutes outside of Scotts Valley, which is near both Santa Cruz and the ocean. Eden went above and beyond being the consummate host, and instantly became my good friend as well. She upgraded my room at the last minute for no extra charge, and the lovely room had such a comfortable bed that I routinely slept 8-9 hours a night instead of my usual 6-7 at home in Texas. When I could bring myself to get up in the mornings, fixing French-pressed coffee with milk left out for me by 6 a.m., I was welcome to her entire home in which to lounge - something I took liberal advantage of whenever I could. I regularly sat around with Eden over coffee and just-baked banana bread each morning in a divine leather chair in the living room, playing with their awesome dog Buddy and his new collection of 50 cent stuffed animals (which he joyfully dismembered immediately) and who gave me the most delightful whines of ecstasy when rubbed in just the right spots. I was even encouraged to play their grand piano, which they tried to have tuned just for my visit when they heard that I was a classical pianist. While normally rather private, I found myself sharing details of my life with Eden, who was unfailingly sensitive, had many stories of her own, and was also lots of fun. During my 4 nights there, I also had the most amazing gourmet dinner and breakfast, with almost every ingredient freshly picked from her gardens and prepared with a creative flair that could rival any restaurant. You have never truly had greens until they came from her garden picked that day! The multi-course dinner, beautifully presented by candlelight and strung colored lights on the windows, included baba ganoush with homemade pita bread, pureed squash soup, arugula salad, chicken polenta pot pie and kale, topped off with berry cobbler and wine throughout the meal. The final night I was invited as their guest to a spectacular Mexican-themed meal with Eden's charming longtime friends, which included Craig's famous rotisserie chicken plus more garden veggies. The special breakfast the next morning, served on the deck, was equally good, with a almond-milk fruit smoothie, squash-flavored waffles (amazing!), a frittata and fresh strawberries and cream. All in all, I cannot recommend this little slice of heaven highly enough. Go for the comfort, ambience and food. Leave with new friends and experiences you will never...
Great experience with wonderful and warm hosts. The eclectic house is built on the side of a tree studded hillside in the Santa Cruz mountains surrounded by Eden's tiered gardens full of veggies and kale with nice views of the surrounding countryside. I had Eden's home cooked meal with veggies from the garden--tasty and healthy! While it feels remote and country-like, it's really only about 10 minutes to Felton or Santa Cruz.
This is a great place to stay. Eden and Craig are awesome, and their house is beautiful.
Be careful if you are coming at night since the road is very windy, dark, goes off of GPS in the last leg, and the last turn to the house is a dramatic hairpin (especially if you have a big car). READ Eden's directions in the posting. They are very accurate and helpful. Not a big deal, but good to know beforehand.
They make awesome banana bread!
Lots of meal options close by and you can tell Eden advance if you want any of her meal options.
Overall lovely and interesting stay. A definite win!
We had a spectacular time at Voss Gardens this past weekend. Eden is a perfect host with a beautiful house and property. She made us feel at home right away when we arrived and recommended a great restaurant in downtown Santa Cruz. We had a private entrance to our bedroom and half bath and were welcomed to use the entire house.
The highlight of our time at Voss Gardens was the breakfast that we had on the deck in the sunshine. Eden is a wonderful cook and made us a delicious breakfast (taking our food restrictions into consideration) that included foods from her garden that we overlooked while eating. After breakfast, Eden gave us a tour of her gardens, and even gave us some fava beans to plant in our garden back in San Francisco.
Thanks for a perfect stay Eden! We look forward to visiting Voss Gardens again and can't wait to harvest our own fava beans
Eden and her husband were amazing! Such warm and welcoming people who made my Dad and I feel instantly comfortable. Eden cooked us such a fantastic dinner using tons of produce from her garden. The salad greens were seriously incredible, my Dad couldn't stop talking about them days later :) She also prepared a delicious breakfast and fresh tea using mint leaves from her garden.
Their place is awesome, super cool 70's California vibe. Beautiful property and gardens. Very quiet and peaceful. There is also a 1000 year old redwood tree that is less than a mile from their place which you can hike to. We did the hike the following day and it was a magical experience.
I highly recommend this host and hope to go back and visit again in the warmer summer months.
Voss Gardens is a delightful place to stay. The rooms are comfortable and clean, with nice touches of artisan chocolates, bottled water, French Press for coffee in the morning (or teas) and a private deck off one room and a private outside sitting area in the other. The sustainable terraced gardens are fascinating. Eden and Craig have created vegetable, flower and fruit areas which surround the house and they happily gave us a tour. The house itself is a creative work of art, with several levels for guests and a spacious, sunny kitchen. The food was wonderful: we took the option for a special dinner and breakfast and brought our own wine. The delicious dinner included greens from Eden's garden. Our morning concluded with a picturesque one mile walk to the beautiful redwood, "The King of the Forest." Eden's special touch shines through in her home and her hospitality. We highly recommend this Airbnb, located close to Santa Cruz and San Francisco.
We had a lovely time at Voss Gardens. My family and I were in the area to attend Thanksgiving dinner at a friends house and needed a place to stay so we didn't have to drive back to Oakland that night.
Eden and her partner Craig were hosting their own family meal and had a house full of relatives and extended family. We were heartily welcomed and felt right at home. The grounds were beautiful, the rooms clean and comfortable, the artisan made chocolates in our rooms were delicious. Highly recommended!
