Since we cook at home quite often, we also provide simple home cooked breakfast for guests as well.

immerse yourself in country life with a stay in our farm house, which is about half-hour away from Johor Bahru. We hope we can provide customers with an experience of sustainable and simple lifestyle.

We have spent about 14 months reconstructing the 80 year old farmhouse. All of our furniture was either handmade by us with used materials or reconditioned from pre-owned furniture.

In order to encourage customers to enjoy the breeze and fresh air from the surrounding environment, we provide mosquito swatter and installed mosquito nets in every room. However, customers still have the option to turn on the air-conditioning machine provided.

On our property, we have a 7000 square feet tiny permaculture farm. We grow varieties of fruit trees, herbs and vegetables. We made fruit jam, herbal tea, dried fruit, pickles, vinegar, and drinks to preserve using our farm produce as raw ingredients. The food we serve to customers partially comes from our farm.

We made household soap from used cooking oil/water and whole body soap from Aloe Vera juice/olive oil. These homemade soaps are eco-friendly and biodegradable in nature. We will give customers a small piece of household soap upon stay.

In our guesthouse, we provide breakfast as complimentary service. If you do not wish to take up our service I would appreciate informing us in advance.

Our environment is close to nature and we do not use pesticides. Do not be surprised if some insects, small animals are found in the premises. People who have zero tolerance of ants and geckos please do not book.

Last but not least, we have a baby girl in the house. She might make noise sometimes. If you are very sensitive about noise and sound please be aware of it as well.

Guest access
Durian guesthouse is located in Kulai New Village.New Villages represent a type of settlement that is unique to Peninsular Malaysia. They were originally established by the government as roadside relocation settlements for rural Chinese during the Malayan Emergency (1948–60), a period of intense conflict between the British administration and a (largely Chinese) communist guerrilla insurgency that arose after World War II.

Kulai New Village is located in the central area of Kulai province. It is about 20 minutes away from Senai Airport, 40 minutes away from Johor Bahru ( the biggest city in Johor, second largest city in Malaysia). Within a 1 hour drive we can go to Desaru (a famous seaside area), Pontian (famous fishing village), Kluang province, Kota Tinggi, Gunung Pulai and many other places. Travellers with cars may stay in my place and visit these places easily.

Within 15 minutes walking distance, we can find convenience stores, farmacy, restaurants, cafes, banks and clinic. Some hawkers like beef noodle, chicken rice, fried Kuey Teow, Laksa and steam stuff bun have been doing business in our area for a few generations. In recent years, more entrepreneurs have come to this area such as cafe serving speciality coffee, Malay and western food, vegan restaurant, Taiwanese restaurant, weekend pub and cake shop as well. There is a park about 2 minutes walking distance from our guesthouse, if you are sport enthusiastic and you do not wish to miss your work-out section, you can go to the park for exercises.

If you are looking for some activities for your family. In Kulai province we have starfish Leisure Farm, Putuo Village, Gunung Pulai Recreation Center, Rainforest Treehouse Cafe, Kelapa Sawit mural street, Zhong Cheng Durian Orchard, Johor Premium Outlet . These are very good spots for spending your time and create bonding between family members.

Last but not least, you can stay in our guesthouse. Drink a cup of coffee and enjoy reading time here. Sometimes, doing nothing might be better than doing many things.

During your stay
Our check-in time is after 3pm, a day before arrive please let us know your check-in time so that I'll be available in person upon check-in. After check-in I'll brief through anything essential about my house and also introduce surrounding.
