Large set of double doors open out to balconies overlooking Portal de l'Angel and Placa Catalunya. Just throw them open and let the glorious sunshine in (the apartment is full of light from dawn until sunset)! There is a big crystal dining table which six seats (great for long dinners with good wine).

• Kitchen: A clean and bright, fully fitted kitchen with all utensils, crockery and spices - just in case you get the urge to experiment with fresh ingredients from the excellent Santa Catarina food market at just a few steps away.

All bedrooms are large, bright, clean double rooms fully heated in the winter, with double beds and comfy tempur mattresses. Two bathrooms of which one with a shower and bathtub, WC and large sink, the other with the sink and toilet. There are always fresh sheets on the beds and a big pile of clean towels in the bathrooms.
Literally just around the corner is Placa del la Catedral, the amplest and liveliest square of the Gothic District, the scene for the display of the main events of Barcelona such as La Mercé and the weekly Antique Market as also meeting-point for most locals for a lazy afternoon. Spread around with sunny cafe terraces, street artists and historical sights, this spot in front of the beautiful 14th century Santa Eulalia Gothic church is where all the magic happens! The apartment is also just a few minutes walk from the beach, the Picasso Museum and the lovely Parc de la Ciutadella as well as most of the city's famous historical buildings and museums (see map). Some of Barcelona's nicest cafe's and tastiest restaurants are all close-by. There are also two metro stations just a few minutes walk away, the nearest of which is Placa Catalunya.
FROM THE AIRPORT: The easiest way to get to the apartment is simply to jump in a taxi outside the airport which will cost around 30€. The cheaper version is to jump on the blue AeroBus from the airport (7€ - leaves every 15 minutes) until the the final stop Plaça Cataluña. From here, we're at just 2 mins walk down Portal de l'Angel.
BY TRAIN: If you are arriving by train, the lovely Estación de Francia is around 5 mins of stroll from the apartment. This is also an excellent transport link to get to the beaches and some enjoyable day trips outside the city, for example, pretty Sitges, the Dali Museum in Figueras and the breathtaking monastery in Montserrat.

Well, what I would mainly understand under the expression "common sense", that is such a subjective perception of behavior and manners. I find it important to always communicate any extra needs or informations that you find important while being my guests. Furthermore, if you are a smoker, it might be common sense smoking on our rooftop (right above the apartment) but never within our home. To be honest, I've surprised guests even with their feet on my white walls... needless to comment this incident. Other surprises have been broken vases that have never been declared, so one is just waking up in the morning, people left without leaving a note, some cash, just simply talking about it... nothing.
Well guys, plain "common sense"...nothing else than it. :) Remember that you aren't in a hotel, even though I wouldn't behave as a disrespectful guest anyway. Thanks in advance!
First room: huge bedroom with a king-size bed, triple mirror door wardrobe, desk... it's called "home".
I stayed with my family and v njoyed the stay in Roberta's flat. Description is accurate and flat is very spacious.Flat is located on third floor so if you have heavy baggage it will be bit difficult to carry first time..Location is spot on, just on the shopping street..overall I recommend the stay here
First of all I would like to acknowledge how helpful Roberta was before our trip. She always responded to my inquiries quickly and offered many suggestions and recommendations on restaurants and things to do. We arrived in Barcelona mid-morning and were able to go to the flat at 11:30 to leave our luggage and change prior to check-in at 2. The cleaner let us in and gave us the keys. We never met Roberta however she called to chat once we were in and we discussed a few issues with the apartment. The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of many sights, restaurants and shops. The apartment was clean, but very spartan.
Some comments on items that might help future visitors. It would be good to note on the site that the flat is 3 floors up, 64 stairs in total. As there is no air conditioning one might expect that the fans provided would be in good condition. Unfortunately, the ones that should have rotated did not and we needed them placed right beside the beds to get any relief from the heat at night. The building is under renovation and was covered in a tarp that blocked the light, the view and any breeze in the front room. I have no idea how long that will last. The downstairs entrance was dark once the ground floor shop closed and we needed a cellphone flashlight to be able to see to unlock and lock the door.
While the fridges were adequate for storing and cooling drinks, the freezer needed defrosting and neither fridge was very cold. There were many containers of coffee, tea, oils, etc. left in the cupboards; however there was no indication how long they had been there. I would recommend a purge.
The wifi connection was sporadic at best. The site stated there were a comfortable sofa and a large day-bed in the lounge. There was one sofa that sat 2 comfortably. The advertised crystal table is a table with glass top with six wobbly and very precarious chairs that were the only other seating.
The hall had a clothes drying rack that was full of damp sheets and towels when we arrived, one can only assume from the previous guests. There were no top sheets on the beds, just duvet covers and we were provided with one towel per bedroom for 4 days. There was no “big pile of clean white towels in the bathrooms”. Only one bedroom had drapes that kept the light out, the other two had sheer curtains that were not properly attached to the rod and did not provide privacy. The bedroom windows had to be kept closed as they opened onto a central area that was noisy and looked onto other apartments in the building.
While I found Roberta very helpful and the location terrific, I have to say I would not stay in this apartment again.
It's really good location, but apartment are not clean and fresh, rooms look worse than at photo. We didn't get exact address so I had to call from international number in roaming.
Also I filtered hosting with a free parking and in house facilities were "Free Parking on Premises". But no free parking on premises at all. So we paid extra 50 euros for the nearest parking.
The last minus - now the facade of the building in restoration, so from the balcony we saw not a street, but only scaffolding and metal mesh.
Regrettably the apartment has many shortcomings which are not visible when you see the pictures submitted by the host. The stairways that lead to the apartment are very poor. we had to use our phones as torches because there are no lights at night time. The bedroom doors have no handles or locks. The bedrooms have windows into a roofed yard with poor ventilation. The only room that has a window to the outside is the lounge. This is the misfortune with Airbnb in that the properties are not graded to give the guest an idea of the standard to expect. This apartment can be compared to a clean 2 star hotel.
Apartment is well located in centre of Gothic quarter. Generally clean and basic facilities and equipment. Fans worked overtime in hot weather.
WiFi worked well, following comments from earlier guests so Roberta must have addressed this issue which is good to see.
Stairs to third level favour younger legs.
Our host, Roberta, was very kind and helpful, giving us advice how to get to the flat by the metro. Besides, she also gave us useful advice about nice and authentic places to eat our meals, off the beaten tourist track. We appreciate this a lot.
The flat was perfectly situated and really central. It was perfect to our needs and it will surely be perfect for many other guests. The flat is really nice and spacious. The floors in all rooms are made of beautiful new tiles, and the place was really clean. Even if the flat is situated on a high floor in the building, there were no problems with running water in the tap. There were 2 bathrooms, which was very practical for us, as we were 6 persons. There is no air-condition in the flat, but there is a fan in every room, and this was enough for us, in fact. The big sitting room has a balcony overlooking a lively pedestrian street, Portal d' Angel. Many attractions and beautiful places in Barcelona are within a walking distance and so are public communications, tourist buses, buses to the airport etc.
The house where the flat is located has no lift, which Roberta has warned us about beforehand. It was quite OK with us, but guests should rather avoid carrying very heavy luggage with them.
We have not used the kitchen other than for storing cold water in the cooler. It is possible to make food at home, but it was difficult to find shops with daily products at close distance, so we were eating all meals out. There are many places just round the corner where you can buy ready-made breakfast or lunch, or eat there.
On the whole, I can recommend this flat and it's hostess, Roberta, to other guests
Roberta was a great host, always available. The flat is quite big and well located.

About the Host, Roberta
My name is Roberta, I was born in Italy and raised, well, in several countries around the world due to my parents nomadic life-style. I moved to Barcelona at the end of March 2011. Not just for any reason, but for the love of my life. I know, I know, it sounds cliche, but hey, that’s how it happened.
In my “previous” life I worked as a Social Media Manager for a multinational based in the Caribbeans and currently I am giving sense to my position as a Marketing Executive in Spain. So actually, I have my Mediterranean life sorted out pretty well, but still, I missed what I love doing most: being in constant contact with internationally experienced people. And therefore, with help from my dearest boyfriend, I started opening our flats to the world and welcoming guests, trying to share with them this perpetual wonderland of ours, Barcelona.
It’s basically a never ending project, since I will continue introducing as a host all my guests to my world and guide them into this mysterious and playful reality that is my city. So yes, here it is.Through recent updates you will discover everything you can find, everything there is and you need to know. Only the highly necessary facts mixed together with personal experiences, tips and tricks.
So let me take you to my BCN…. and beyond!
Nos vemos muy pronto!
