John made us feel welcome and gave us ideas and tips. The place was as I imagined it, even bigger. One thing to know is that the terrace is split into three sections (for three different houses). So you don't have the entire terrace for yourself. Still very beautiful views though!
Amazing location! I have to say John was the best host ever. He picked us up at the airport dropped us off when we left. He gave us great recommendations where to go,what to do, and where to eat. He helped take our luggage up the steps when we left. The apartment was clean and comfortable but this is all about the view. The pics are very accurate and the balcony and hot tub were awesome. I would suggest a sunset tour on the catamaran around the island, it was the highlight of our trip. Great place stay.
The host canceled this reservation 81 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We had a fabulous 3 nights in Oia....John's accommodation made for the most spectacular setting....The view, jacuzzi and private deck were enjoyed daily. The accommodation was otherwise comfortable. We were able to access wifi intermittently though, which perhaps could be addressed just to make communication with distant family easier. The walk to the main walkway where the shops and restaurants are, is quite a hike, but great excercise, especially if one is indulging in the local cuisine and gelateau. I do however feel that a porter service from the shuttle needs to be provided on both arrival and departure. John organised this for our departure which was so appreciated. We arrived late, and really struggled to get our heavy luggage to the apartment without help on arrival...until having to make a plan ourselves. Not knowing what to anticipate exactly on arrival, I do think that a porter service should be automatically included under a surcharge if necessary.
We will definitely be back as Oia is magical!
We had questions re transport and John was very willing to help us organise transport. I feel that hiring a car is totally unnecessary. ...The local busses are cheap and frequent. People hire scooters and four wheel buggies, which would probably be fine, but after experiencing the local drivers, probably not the safest option.
If you are on the island for a very short time, we'd recommend staying put in Oia....it is a little piece of heaven!
This apartment was not what I expected given the lovely location. It was very moist and humid inside, internet did not work well, not very well supplied in terms of toilet paper/tissues/coffee and the most disappointing piece was very surprised that there was no hot water so we had to take cold showers every day. One other piece worth noting was that the photos made it seem like we had a much larger outdoor space then we did.
Dear Cherie. i have to answer to your review cause im feeling that you make a lot of mystakes. fist of all the house is a cave so if you want to be moist and humid you have to turn on the 4 funs that are inside the appartement and the dehumidifier so the clima inside the house will be fine. secondly if you was need more toilet paper or coffee you should ask me as all my guest done and i will give you. finally if you want to have hot water for the shower you should turn on the switch for the boiler . about the photos and the reallity you are the first guest who says that the photos are not like the appartement. all my guests (as you can see on the reviews) say that the house is just like the photos indoor and outdoor.
John was an enthusiastic, generous & welcoming host. He kindly picked us up at the airport, saying any cost was unnecesary.I
We had a great stay at this cave house! It's in a perfect location at the bottom of the hill so it feels more private than the places near the main path at the top. The view from the patio is also excellent. The only odd part was the pool inside the house. It made the rooms extra humid. The kitchen was a small nook but it was good for making breakfast. John was very helpful- he picked us up from the airport and arranged a last minute boat cruise for us. Thank you John for the lovely stay!
