This is a newly remodeled studio flat located in the SOMA district of San Francisco.
The flat is very centrally located with almost ideal access to public transportation:
2 city blocks (8 min walk) from Civic Center BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit that will whisk you to multiple locations in the city and around the bay area)
Multiple MUNI stops on the corners (MUNI is San Francisco's bus and streetcar system serving all corners of the city)
The flat itself has been remodeled with brand new carpet, new paint, new appliances and new furniture throughout.
Be aware that this is a walk up apartment on the third floor so you must be OK with stairs.
The apartment is also located on a busy street so there is some level of street noise that comes into the apartment but is muted to a degree by thick curtains to allow a good nights sleep. Complimentary earplugs are provided for very light sleepers :)
This part of the SOMA district contains many of San Francisco's most famous (and notorious) restaurants and nighclubs. It is also the central SF shopping area for furniture and interior design.
Some of the great nightlife within walking distance includes:
3. The Stud
4. DNA Lounge
5. Cat Club
Carlitos was super prompt in all of his responses to me. He was very accommodating and the apartment was well stocked, everything from coffee to toiletries. He had several maps brochures and menus in the room which made navigating the city a bit easier. There was a bottle of wine and chocolates waiting in the kitchen and the apartment was just as described. One tip, if you go out on the fire escape and pull the door shut all the way it will lock behind you and the apartment keys do not unlock the door. I got lucky and went down one flight on the fire escape and there was another door inside that was unlocked. The climb to the roof is a bit scary but very cool.
The apartment was lovely, clean, nicely decorated and had plenty of space for two people. The bed was very comfortable!
The neighborhood was a little rough. Though I didn't do much research ahead of time so that was probably my bad.
Carlos tried to buzz us in from off site, but the door wasn't working so we had to wait for him to drive over and let us in. Not a big deal during the day, but would not have been a great situation at night, given the neighborhood.
The only other issue was parking. The streets are metered Mon - Saturday and are very expensive. We also would have had to get up at 7am to plug it the next morning. We drove around for a long time to find a parking garage where we could leave the car overnight -- and it was several blocks from the apartment.
Our stay in Carlitos flat was great – it was central, clean, and had everything we needed. Carlitos was very helpful and prompt in communication, with no pressure to check in or out at a specific time. All round a great spot to explore SF's different neighbourhoods from, and a lovely space to relax in. Highly recommended.
I dodnt get to meet Carlito in person but he was very responsive and accurate in all my requests, and very friendly too. There even was a nice bottle of wine and chocolate on the table, plus beer in the fridge! very welcoming. the apartment is super nice, neat and clean, and very nicely located in the soma area. The wifi worked perfectly which was super important for a business traveller like myself :-)... Great experience! I even climbed the fore escape to the roof (as suggested in the photos of the listing) and got a breattaking view of the city and the bridge!
Lovely little flat close to so much to do and convenient to SoMa. BART is only a couple of blocks away for those who want to trek beyond the neighborhood. The flat itself is tidy, clean, is nicely furnished and has the little necessities (thanks for the Anchor Steam beer!) that made my stay relaxing at the end of very long days. The white noise machine is an excellent touch - I slept very soundly. My flight in was delayed and Carlitos was responsive and gracious. Felt like home - it really did. I highly recommend Carlitos and his listing.
Great pad. Will stay here again.
Another fine airbnb experience.
Check in was pleasant and host was accommodating, plus my favorite ale was in the fridge.
The apartment is comfortable and the kitchen is well accessoried.
Lots of restaurants, clubs and markets give it a neighborhood feel, but there is some street noise.
Perfect - tidy and well appointed. Wine, cookies and cupcakes a very nice touch. Thank you
We enjoyed our stay at Bernie's apartment. We found parking difficult but we now know the whole of San Francisco is difficult for parking, if I had my time again I would have ditched the hire car altogether. We also couldn't get access to the laundry during our stay, but found a good laundromat within walking distance.
Cozy and clean. Host was very responsive and kind enough to leave a bottle of red wine and some bubbles. Parking tip: Costco lot nearby ;-)
