Interaction with Guests
We are here and want you to be as welcome and comfortable as possible. We are available to assist and advise you in any way we can. We are Brits but have lived here for 23 years so know the area well and enjoy meeting new people. We will be around during your stay and will prepare continental breakfast for you each morning - always a good time for a chat!
However, please understand we are a B&B, not an hotel. We expect our guests to be out and about during the day as we work from home and often have meetings in the house. If you want to hang out somewhere for extended periods during the day, you would be better off getting a hotel as they are equipped for that.
Very close to beaches, shops, Montecito village and downtown. However, none of these are walking distance.
Sorry, there is no public transport,. so you will need a car!
Other Things to Note
Unlike many others, when we say B&B, we mean B&B! The price includes a full continental breakfast each morning, with Peets French-roast coffee, tea, fresh, home-baked croissants, Greek yoghurt, fresh fruits and granola. Hooray!
DOGS: If you wish to bring a dog, please ask in advance. If approved, a nightly pet fee of $20 will apply.
HOT TUB: The Hot Tub needs to be heated from cold on each use, so we charge a $10 fee to cover gas usage.
A few basic rules:
1. Smoking only allowed in the garden.
2. Please put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher.
3. Please do not park in front of the garage.
4. This is a "B&B" so we provide breakfast. Please do not ask if you can use our kitchen to cook. However, feel free to use the fridge, microwave etc etc.
4. Please do not eat in the bedrooms.
5. Check out time means ... check out time. We have to prepare the room for other guests.
You can be sure we will try our best to be the most excellent hosts! For anyone new to Airbnb, below are a few thoughts lifted from GIZMODO on how to be a great Airbnb guest!
DON'T IGNORE YOUR EMAIL
Last-minute changes to the host's schedule make it crucial to be in touch as soon as possible. So stay reachable in the days leading up to your stay. And, if at all possible, check your email when the plane lands or before you arrive.
DON'T MISS ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE TIMES
Hosts are not running hotels, and they don't have a reception desk. The host absolutely needs to know a firm check in time, as far in advance as possible. Sometimes separate guests leave and arrive on the same day. The place has to be cleaned and prepared for the next visitor. For extensions of check-out times (or the occasional 7 am check-in), a host will try to accommodate. Guests can usually leave luggage behind during the last day, or drop it off early if the room isn't ready yet. Just be sure to ask in advance.
GO OUT AND HAVE FUN!
B&B = Bed & Breakfast! In a shared space, the best tenants spend most of their time out enjoying the city. If you're looking to shut yourself in and hang out all day, look for a whole-apartment Airbnb rental.
Hotels have maids. Airbnb has hosts. As Airbnb put it in an email: "Consider stripping the beds or taking out the trash to go the extra mile." Well, that would be fantastic. Use the campsite rule—leave no trace.
COMMUNICATE PROBLEMS OR QUESTIONS
A host hates to read post-visit reviews complaining of not enough towels. You know what? If you want another towel, just ask. The host is not trying to hold out on you, but the host can't know you need something unless you speak up. All hosts want you to have a good stay, but it's up to you to say what to do to make that happen.
Edie (in Richard's absence) made us feel very welcome and was a charming and elegant host from start to finish. The room was great and the home is spectacular! We loved it here.
Awesome location. Richard was out of town. His friend, Edie, took excellent care of my husband and me. Her daughter suggested several restaurants. We chose Pane e Vino and we were very pleased with the food.
While my mother and I did not get the chance to meet Richard, his friends who hosted on his behalf were amazing. The house is beautiful and spacious with great views of the ocean and Channel Islands. Due to the drought in the city, Richard thoughtfully placed informational flyers of ways to save water. My mother and I were very careful and tried to abide in any way possible. The breakfast was perfect, fruit and yogurt with a freshly baked croissant on the side. The whole atmosphere was elegant and cultured. The other guests were lovely people as well. We both had wonderful conversations with everyone in the house and hope to remain in contact. Overall, wonderful accommodations, warm and delightful people, quiet and peaceful neighborhood, delicious food, amazing views, and great privacy. I highly recommend experiencing this beautiful home. We will be coming back again.
Our trip Santa Barbara was made even more special by staying at Richards incredibly beautiful home... He was the consummate host that was extremely knowledgeable about the local going ons as well as providing fresh croissants and coffee every morning. The room we stayed in was incredibly comfortable with its own private bath and the view from our room was world class...in fact the whole home is like a very high end resort. I can pretty much guarantee that this will be the only place we'll want to stay in our next trip to Santa Barbara.
A wonderful stay! Richard was a great host - meticulous, caring, and warm. Accommodations were professionally maintained. Beautiful ocean views, great pool, tasty breakfast, perfect!
What a GEM!! Fresh baked croissants ...a bowl of fresh berries and super yummy coffee on the Terrasse while looking over the ocean ....that is what's waiting for you at this amazing Airbnb !!!Richard is the most welcoming & warm host one can ask for. The room we stayed in was gorgeous, roomy, clean and the mattress & sheets are simply a dream!
We met some amazing people and had THE MOST memorable weekend in this amazing House. Thank you Richard from the bottom of our Hearts...we hope to back many more times in the future!!! xo
Richard is the best host anyone could ask for. This was my first time staying with an airbnb and I am pretty sure the bar was set so high I will have a hard time finding a more gracious host or better accommodations. If you want beautiful views and great conversation this is your place!
