Cluain Beag is situated on the rising slopes of Slieve Mish half way along The Dingle Peninsula. A perfect retreat for those who want to get away from it all. The views are stunning and the large garden, although some of it a little wild, has plenty of room for visiting dogs and children. The house is a little old fashioned, but suits it's rural location. Simply furnished with an open fire in the sitting room and the well equipped spacious kitchen, with a range, is the hub of the house.

The space
The kitchen has a large table which can be extended to seat 8 people quite comfortably. The range is very efficient and in addition to cooking it also heats the water and the radiators. There is also a combination microwave which does just about everything and there's a washer/dryer and dish washer.
The sitting room has two sofa's, which it could be said have seen better days but they are comfy, there is a TV, plenty of books, games and oodles of maps and information books and, of course, the open fire. All the bedrooms are freshly painted and beds are comfortable. Bathroom has an electric shower and bath. There are even two dog beds available which your pets are welcome to use. As the house is frequented by our own dogs and visiting dogs, forgive us if the odd dog hair is over looked also should you be allergic to pet hair this may not be the right place for you. Occasionally asthma sufferers can also have problems possibly due to the abundance of Fuscia. It is important to point out that this is a very rural location and nature is never very far away. The house is always meticulously cleaned before the arrival of guests so please don't think that the presence of spiders and their webs suggests otherwise, cobwebs can appear overnight and on wet days its hard to prevent mud from being trodden into the hallway. However, these minor faults are more than made up for by the stunning views and for star gazers on clear nights you will be delighted to see constellations rarely visible, but up here with little light pollution you can see them all, in fact a star has been officially named named Ballinahunt by one of our guest! Welcome to the Slieve Mish!

Guest access
The entire house and garden are all part of the let.

Location

Annascaul, County Kerry, Ireland

The Dingle Peninsula is perhaps one of the most beautiful places on earth. There is so much to do and see I strongly recommend a stay of at least two weeks or more. The local village of Anascaul with its several pubs is 10 mins away. The South Pole Inn is worth a visit to drink the local Creans beer named after its first owner, Antarctic Explorer Tom Crean and to see photos of his expeditions. Joan's While away cafe serves excellent food and her evening soirees are brilliant and Lough Anasacul is just magical. The peninsula offers miles and miles of sandy beaches, mountains, lakes, islands and so much natural beauty. For the active there is hiking, swimming, surfing, cycling, pony trekking, fishing, boat trips, as well as historical sites to explore with standing stones, Oghams, ancient churches and more. In the evening Dingle, 20 mins away, providing there are no sheep or cattle jams, offers wonderful restaurants, Out of the Blue and Global Village are 2 of our favorites. And for afters the many, many pubs throb with the sounds of traditional Irish music well into the night. The Slea Head drive round the end of the peninsula is a must which boasts the most western point in Europe and offers amazing views of The Blasket Islands and another must is a Eco Marine Boat trip to see them close up. Further afield, 40 minutes away, is Killarney with its famous lakes and Muckross House and in Castleisland, Crag caves are great for the kids, and adults, on a wet day! Which can happen....waterproofs are a must!

This is our very simple home in Ireland which we both love very much and have hundreds of happy memories of our son growing up here and of all our beautiful dogs who loved the space, the views and the wonderful beaches.
