About this listing
Come experience a comfortable night under the stars in our fun and relaxing treehouse!
Our newly-built Treehouse is already proving to be a hit. There is a triple bunk-bed, a single bed, and floor space if needed.
The Zen Hostel is a small, friendly, family-style location. We offer a meditation room, library, and a peaceful courtyard with a zen pond surrounded by native and fruiting plants. You are invited to make yourself at home here!
In addition to your sleeping area, you will have access to three shared kitchens, a meditation room, outdoor areas, and a washer and dryer on premises. Wifi is provided. Check in and out at your convenience.
Interaction with Guests
It is up to the guest (you!) to decide how much communal interaction you desire during your stay. Some guests join in our group meditations, daily meetings and shared meals. Others come here for a chance to relax in privacy, and enjoy the time to themselves.
We love our neighborhood! We are located in the very heart of Gainesville, Florida's friendliest city. We are located just around the corner from an organic food co-op, an independent theatre, and a variety of bookstores, restaurants, cafes, parks, and unique local businesses.
We are conveniently located near Gainesville's public transit center. If you need a ride from the airport, we offer pick-up services with a kind donation of half the price of a taxi.
Karrie stayed up late to let me in and show me around. There are lots of beds to stay in, and I was lucky enough to get a place in the tree house. The space was beautiful, very open, friendly, and communal.
It's also a short walk from the downtown of Gainesville. I was just passing through for a night and had no idea what a hip town Gainesville is. At these rates, it's hard to imagine a more fun place to stay for the money.
Everyone was very nice at this hostel, however the actual sleeping space of the zen Treehouse did not look like the pictures. The space was much smaller than it appeared and two of the three beds were very dirty. My wife and I paid for one night but ultimately chose not to sleep here. If you want to explore downtown Gainesville, this is a good starting point as it is close to many shops and within walking distance to the University of Florida. If you are used to a grungy vibe, you might like it here.
I'm a student in the area and I needed a place to stay in between apartment leases. Everyone at the Zen Hostel was friendly and made me feel welcome. There was plenty of opportunity to meet other guests as well over morning meetings and group meals. If you're staying in Gainesville on a budget I would highly recommend this place!
As soon as we walked in the door we were welcomed into the meditation room that emitted a calm deeper than I'd experienced in a long time. The courtyard was prettier than I'd anticipated from the pictures online and our room was cozy and perfect for what we needed. Very friendly and very affordable.
El anfitrión fue siempre muy amable, y estaba justo en la puerta para recibirme a mi llegada, es flexible. El lugar es tranquilo y relajante.
Karrie Ford was very helpful and welcoming. I enjoyed my stay in the Tree House as it was a very relaxing and unique experience. The place had a great vibe to it and I would definitely go back.
Made this reservation super last minute and they accepted , which was great... But was not able to make due to blah blah blah. Hopefully I can try again sometime.
