Gerry and Jeanette were fantastic hosts. Their house was beautiful and clean. They helpedus plan our stay in their area by sharing knowledge of local places to photograph. We had a great breakfast every morning and felt very comfortable in their surroundings. Their home backed up to a beautiful bay where you could see boats in the water and downtown Auckland. I would highly recommend their accommodations.
"What a Gem"
Gerry and Jeannette were very welcoming and made us feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast provided was superb and the rooms were very comfortable. Their home is in a beautiful location and guests can relax on the deck which overlooks North Shore.
We would definitely stay there again if we go back to Auckland.
Thank you Gerry and Jeannette for giving us the opportunity to stay in your lovely home.
Our stay in Auckland was our first airbnb experience. Our flight came in late and we didn't arrive at Jerry and Geanette's until after midnight. We were greeted by J&G and they showed us to our rooms. Very clean and perfectly prepped for outside visitors. The following morning we woke early to the most spectacular view. Really, the money we paid for the rooms was nothing compared to the view and breakfast we enjoyed each morning. Geanette makes the most incredible muesli combined with tasty NZ fruits and yogurts for your enjoyment each day. We sat outside, enjoyed the tasty food and even J&Gs company. All wonderfully delightful. They gave us recommendations on great places to visit as well. The accommodations they provided, the stunning bay view over looking downtown auckland, the use of their kayaks, the wonderful breakfast, their company- this was well worth the money in every way. We feel like we got a steal! Do yourself a favor and stay here. It was incredible.
Very kind and gentle hosts, Jeanette and Gerry. Had nice conversations on a couple of occasions. Told me more about Auckland and places to visit in NZ. House itself is on the water and has lovely views. Morning breakfast is a tasty, healthy spread laid out by J. Thank you. Bedroom and bathroom are perfect with clean and comfy bed and linen. They introduced me to some good NZ wines from Otago. Thank you.
Getting to and from CBD was a bit of a trek, given road works on the NW motorway and cricket. 20 km to CBD. That was the only difficulty I faced, but the place made up for the distance.
Thank you Karthik for a great review :) We do however feel that we need to correct you, for the benefit of future guests, regarding the distance into the city. The shortest route into the city, which takes you into Nelson st is 14.7 kms. We do recommend that guests avoid rush hour.
We had a wonderful time at Gerry & Jeanette's place. After travelling for about 40 hours with a 7 month old we arrived in a great Auckland neighborhood at the seaside with spectacular view, and most importantly received a warm welcome from our hosts. They helped us in so many ways that I can't all list here, but their wisdom helped us a lot for our forthcoming adventures. We did not feel like visitors, rather like being at home. We even got to kajak the Auckland bay with their boats... and who knows, if you are lucky you get to sail with the catamaran that Gerry is constructing by himself at the moment.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights with Gerry and Jeannette in Auckland. The location was fantastic, as hosts they were full of advice, and information and accommodating and thoughtful (Jeannette made us a lovely breakfast for a really early start and Gerry taped the news so we could watch it when we got home late). We hope to be able to stay with them again in the future
We are an easy going couple both in our fifties. Gerry works in IT and Jeannette worked in a school with disabled children until the beginning of 2012.Our interests are walking, hiking, cycling, travelling and beach holidays and we enjoy meeting people. Gerry is rebuilding a large catamaran and loves sailing. When that is completed we hope to do lots of sailing around NZ. We love spending time with our four grandchildren and getting together with family and friends. Airbnb has been a part of our lives since July 2011 and we are truly honoured to have had so many wonderful people from all over the world come and stay with us.
