Enjoy the restoration of our charming and cozy caboose! Complete with all the amenities you'll need and more! Linens and towels, refrigerator, microwave, a double burner hot plate, dishes for cooking, barware for cocktailing, and even the original conductor's chairs to watch the sunset over the horse pasture. The space
We've kept the original conductor's chairs and overhead handrails in our complete restoration...but have gussied up the rest for your comfort quite a bit! Due to the limited space of a train caboose, we are only able to provide a 6 gallon hot water heater.

Guests are welcome to pet our friendly horses across the fence as well as help themselves to our raspberry bushes and apple tree...and of course share with the horses if you like!

Neighborhood highlights

There is so much to see and do near Silo on the Ridge! We are located just outside of beautiful Decorah, Iowa where you can float the Upper Iowa River, bring your bike and ride the 11 mile trail, sit and watch the our world famous Eagles Nest, take a shooting lesson from a world class local gunsmith, or visit our award winning local breweries. The caboose is surrounded by some of the best fishing and hunting in the country and there is lots to see and do in the nearby small towns and countryside. Just short drive away is our family restaurant, Dotzy's. Tell them you're staying with us and get a killer made to order Cookie in a Skillet on the house!
