The kitchen is equipped with granite countertops, oven, range, microwave, dishwasher, and a refrigerator. The space is furnished with turn-of-the-century antiques; a HUGE custom made Corbeille bed (kingsize), a French "bateau" daybed/sofa, and a Louise Philippe chaise lounge, 2 flat screen TVs, as well as, art and mementos acquired over many years of travel.
High speed internet, premium cable TV(HBO, Showtime, Starz, Netflix), and high-end bedding ensure a pleasant stay.
The space looks out onto a beautiful Tuscan garden with fountain. The perfect place to relax or just enjoy a romantic moment under our 150 year old oak.
Feel free to explore the gardens, BBQ, or enjoy the Atlanta skyline (or just people watch) from the front porch. There is also a beautiful outdoor dining area, complete with bistro lighting, for meals and entertaining directly behind the house.
We love sharing our home with guests, but we also understand the need for privacy. Interaction will be left up to you; we are always just a knock on the door or a text message away.
Ansley Park is a nationally recognized historic district of beautiful tree-lined streets with expansive parks designed by American landscape architect Fredrick Law Olmstead. Atlanta's vibrant city center is also just a short drive away.
There is free on-street parking in front of the house or you may decide to just walk since many attractions are fairly close and parking can be quite expensive within the city. For longer distances, consider using our rapid transit system (MARTA). The MARTA Arts Center Station is less than a 10 minute walk away. Uber is another option and is typically available within a few minutes. There is also a Zipcar location at the corner of Piedmont and Monroe (at the Ansley Mall Shopping Center) and Relay Bike Share racks ((URL HIDDEN) throughout Midtown Atlanta.
This space is unique. It was originally the maid's quarters. It is directly below the main house, has its own entrance and is shaded by a 150 year old oak. Air conditioning and heat is controlled by you. It also comes with its own washer and dryer and separate security system. The apartment faces west and sits above the street. There is multi-terraced garden behind the house which you are free to enjoy. Access is limited to our Airbnb guests, our gardener, and family members...and then only for gardening or to access the alleyway where we park our electric car. When we have guests, we leave the garden areas primarily for their exclusive enjoyment and use.
Please keep one's physical abilities in mind prior to booking. Although there is a designated disabled parking space in front of our residence, the house is set atop a hill. You must be able to climb 2 sets of stairs and walk along 2 stone paths just to get to the apartment. If you decide to explore the gardens, there are even more steps to climb. Think San Francisco in Atlanta.
Guest suite sits directly below living area of main residence. Home is over 100 years old and one can occasionally hear walking, creaking and settling of the house. We are aware of this and keep our "foot traffic" to a minimum, especially during the evening hours.
Normal check-in is 4pm to 11pm and check-out is before 11am. We understand that even the best made plans can go awry, so we will consider other times on a case-by-case basis. If we aren't available to hand over the keys in person, a lockbox will be used and the code will be provided prior to check-in.
Owners and 2 small dogs live in the main residence; the guest suite is pet free.
Non discrimatory household.
