We live in a quiet neighborhood in NE Portland that is near the Alberta Arts District. Downtown Portland is a short bus ride away and Alberta St. is only a 15 minute walk! Lots of great restaurants, bars and music venues, and other attractions in the vicinity.

The Space

We have a 1 bed, 1 bath space available for guests. The house is a 3 level, 4 bedroom. Our private space is upstairs in the attic, but the rest of the house is available for the guests. The main level has two bedrooms with a shared bathroom, your bedroom would be the back bedroom with a set of bunk beds. You would share your bathroom with anyone that might be staying in the front bedroom. The bunk beds also have a trundle bed, allowing three people to share this room: perfect for travelers wanting their own bed or parents traveling with children:)

There are also large common areas including the living room, dining room, and kitchen, which are all available for guests to use.

Out back there is a yard with fruit trees, a deck and covered patio where guests may sit and relax. There is also a washer and dryer available for guests to use upon request for no extra charge. We provide linens, towels, and toiletries. We also have hair dryers and an ironing board.

Guest Access

Guests will have access to the entire house, except for the attic area and other guests' bedrooms. Guests have full use of all common areas.

Interaction with Guests

We can have as much interaction with a guest as they are comfortable with. We can be available to check in, and then leave you to do as you wish, or we are also more than willing to socialize and show you around town. Whatever your comfort level may be, we can accomodate.

The Neighborhood

The area where we live is quiet and peaceful. But if you're a foodie, or looking for entertainment, Alberta St. is just a short walk away, and it has lots of great restaurants, music venues, and bars. We are more than happy to suggest some of our favorites. There is also easy access to downtown Portland via public transportation. Beaumont Village, also nearby, is a great place for breakfast/brunch. Wilshire Park, a 14 acre park, is only two blocks away. If you're looking for a relaxing sanctuary in the middle of the city, surrounded by unforgettable food, lively bars and great entertainment, you will love this neighborhood!

Getting around

If you are driving, please park in our driveway, or directly in front of our house. If there are no spaces there, please be very careful to not block any driveways and to be considerate of our neighbors.

There is a bus line right around the corner that takes you to Hollywood transit center, where you can hop on a MAX line to take you into downtown. Or, if you don't want to switch, there is the 17 bus line, which is a few blocks away, that takes you directly into downtown. We are also happy to accomocate if you need a ride anywhere, for a minimal fee, per request. Our neighborhood is very safe, so walking and biking are also a great alternative to public transportation.

Other Things to Note

Guests must mention if they are traveling with a RV or large vehicle + trailer, and must acquire pre-approval before booking.

We are happy to include and airport pickup/dropoff in your booking. Be sure to ask when you book the room if you would like to be picked up/dropped off, and we will put you in our schedule. The drive is approximately 15 minutes.

We do have two cats, but they live upstairs in our private space and are not allowed in the common areas or guest bedrooms. Our dog lives exclusively outside in our backyard, and we know she would love some good pets if you're a dog person:) She is a Great Pyrenees, about 6 years old, around 80 lbs, and is very quiet, calm and well-behaved.

  • Zach's home is in a convenient location in a nice neighborhood. The Alberta Arts area is a 15 minute walk away and downtown portland is around 20-30 min away via bus + MAX. The room itself was great, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. I would recommend this room to anyone visiting portland.

  • Zach was so accommodating and helpful! Our flights were delayed so we were nervous about getting in late but he had the place all set up for us. The beds were so comfortable and welcoming after a long day of traveling. Everything was clean and cozy. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Zachary is very welcoming, and went beyond the call of duty to help us get around Portland. His place is very clean, and I appreciated use of the entire first floor, including kitchen, dining room and living room. The bathroom is shared between the 2 first floor bedrooms. Bring socks or slippers, as shoes are not worn in the house. The house is very near the 75 bus route.

  • Experience was fantastic. Zach was extremely accommodating with checking-in late as my friend and I had a late dinner event in downtown Portland. The Trimet rail and bus system made the house super accessible even at the late hour. The beds were comfortable and I felt the descriptions were true and accurate. The neighborhood is a quiet one and the Alberta District had a number of delicious options as the host had pointed out. Thanks for the pleasant stay Zach and Jade!

  • Me and my friend stayed here for 3 nights and had a perfect stay.. Unfortunately Zach was out of town when we visited but Jade was an amazing host! So friendly, welcoming and helpful! The house is lovely, spacious and clean and is in the coolest area. So many good restaurants and bars in walking distance of the house. I want to live here!

  • This was the perfect place to stay for my two friends and me. We booked it the night before when we decided on a last minute trip to Portland. Zach was super accommodating and the room and bathroom were very clean. They probably had the most comfortable beds I've slept on using airbnb. The rest of the house also was great but we didn't have a chance to use much since we were out most of the day. Plenty of street parking right outside regardless of the time of the day. Thanks for having us!

  • Hosts are so nice! We had many troubles about ourselves. We asked the host to help us out when we cannot open the luggage and when we left the iPad in the room while we were out. and they were so generous helping us out. The house is so nice with lots of interesting books.

  • Great location! Very friendly and warm! I was very busy and in and out during my short stay, but they managed to make me feel welcome and I knew that if I had any questions they would answer without hesitation! Thank you and I would recommend.

Jade and I are pretty easy going. We are well traveled and enjoy helping out fellow travelers. We have been to 30+ countries between the two of us and enjoy sharing stories and experiences. I enjoy watching movies and reading a good book. I am also a music fanatic. My favorite food is probably Thai food, but it's tough to decide. My favorite place I've been out of the country so far is Finland. There's just a pleasant wildness about the place that I enjoyed. My favorite place within the country is, of course, Portland! The Northwest is a wonderful area to visit. I believe in living life, so that when I pass on, I can look back on my life and have great memories and as little regret as possible. That's one of the reasons I've tried to travel so much. We hope to provide people with a pleasant stay and an opportunity to get the most out of their visit to Portland. Happy traveling!
