We live in a quiet neighborhood in NE Portland that is near the Alberta Arts District. Downtown Portland is a short bus ride away and Alberta St. is only a 15 minute walk! Lots of great restaurants, bars and music venues, and other attractions in the vicinity.
We have a 1 bed, 1 bath space available for guests. The house is a 3 level, 4 bedroom. Our private space is upstairs in the attic, but the rest of the house is available for the guests. The main level has two bedrooms with a shared bathroom, your bedroom would be the back bedroom with a set of bunk beds. You would share your bathroom with anyone that might be staying in the front bedroom. The bunk beds also have a trundle bed, allowing three people to share this room: perfect for travelers wanting their own bed or parents traveling with children:)
There are also large common areas including the living room, dining room, and kitchen, which are all available for guests to use.
Out back there is a yard with fruit trees, a deck and covered patio where guests may sit and relax. There is also a washer and dryer available for guests to use upon request for no extra charge. We provide linens, towels, and toiletries. We also have hair dryers and an ironing board.
Guests will have access to the entire house, except for the attic area and other guests' bedrooms. Guests have full use of all common areas.
Interaction with Guests
We can have as much interaction with a guest as they are comfortable with. We can be available to check in, and then leave you to do as you wish, or we are also more than willing to socialize and show you around town. Whatever your comfort level may be, we can accomodate.
The area where we live is quiet and peaceful. But if you're a foodie, or looking for entertainment, Alberta St. is just a short walk away, and it has lots of great restaurants, music venues, and bars. We are more than happy to suggest some of our favorites. There is also easy access to downtown Portland via public transportation. Beaumont Village, also nearby, is a great place for breakfast/brunch. Wilshire Park, a 14 acre park, is only two blocks away. If you're looking for a relaxing sanctuary in the middle of the city, surrounded by unforgettable food, lively bars and great entertainment, you will love this neighborhood!
If you are driving, please park in our driveway, or directly in front of our house. If there are no spaces there, please be very careful to not block any driveways and to be considerate of our neighbors.
There is a bus line right around the corner that takes you to Hollywood transit center, where you can hop on a MAX line to take you into downtown. Or, if you don't want to switch, there is the 17 bus line, which is a few blocks away, that takes you directly into downtown. We are also happy to accomocate if you need a ride anywhere, for a minimal fee, per request. Our neighborhood is very safe, so walking and biking are also a great alternative to public transportation.
Other Things to Note
Guests must mention if they are traveling with a RV or large vehicle + trailer, and must acquire pre-approval before booking.
We are happy to include and airport pickup/dropoff in your booking. Be sure to ask when you book the room if you would like to be picked up/dropped off, and we will put you in our schedule. The drive is approximately 15 minutes.
We do have two cats, but they live upstairs in our private space and are not allowed in the common areas or guest bedrooms. Our dog lives exclusively outside in our backyard, and we know she would love some good pets if you're a dog person:) She is a Great Pyrenees, about 6 years old, around 80 lbs, and is very quiet, calm and well-behaved.

Very nice place, bed was extremely comfortable, house was in a very quiet neighborhood. nice living room to hang out in, state of the art kitchen facilities - .
Very nice house, friendly and helpful host. Bunk beds were slightly creaky, but no biggie. Exceptional value. Would stay again.
Zach's house was in a great location, just a short can ride to Alberta street. The house was warm and had all of the amenities we needed. The bunk beds were surprisingly comfortable and the down comforter on these was amazing.
To go downtown we took the 75 bus to the max station so that took about 40 minutes. Next time we would get a car. Lorna was very hospitable and welcoming when we arrived. :)
We stayed in the bunk bed room. It was wonderful. I especially appreciated the soft sheets and down comforter. This will be my got destination for Portland every time. Location was a plus as is in a quiet neighborhood.
A++++ all the way. Met Zachary's sister & bf and the were both co friendly and welcoming. Nice cozy house in quiet neighbourhood. I would highly recommend!
Really great, clean place to stay with extremely friendly and cool hosts! Would recommend! Even dealt with my last minute reservation shenanigans!

Jade and I are pretty easy going. We are well traveled and enjoy helping out fellow travelers. We have been to 30+ countries between the two of us and enjoy sharing stories and experiences.
I enjoy watching movies and reading a good book. I am also a music fanatic. My favorite food is probably Thai food, but it's tough to decide.
My favorite place I've been out of the country so far is Finland. There's just a pleasant wildness about the place that I enjoyed. My favorite place within the country is, of course, Portland! The Northwest is a wonderful area to visit.
I believe in living life, so that when I pass on, I can look back on my life and have great memories and as little regret as possible. That's one of the reasons I've tried to travel so much.
We hope to provide people with a pleasant stay and an opportunity to get the most out of their visit to Portland.
