We live in a quiet neighborhood in NE Portland that is near the Alberta Arts District. Downtown Portland is a short bus ride away and Alberta St. is only a 15 minute walk! Lots of great restaurants, bars and music venues, and other attractions in the vicinity.
We have a 1 bed, 1 bath space available for guests. The house is a 3 level, 4 bedroom. Our private space is upstairs in the attic, but the rest of the house is available for the guests. The main level has two bedrooms with a shared bathroom, your bedroom would be the large front bedroom with a gorgeous four-poster bed. You would share your bathroom with anyone that might be staying in the back bedroom.
There are also large common areas including the living room, dining room, and kitchen, which are all available for guests to use.
Out back there is a yard with fruit trees, a deck and covered patio where guests may sit and relax. There is also a washer and dryer available for guests to use upon request for no extra charge. We provide linens, towels, and toiletries. We also have hair dryers and an ironing board.
Guests will have access to the entire house, except for the attic area and other guests' bedrooms. Guests have full use of all common areas.
We can have as much interaction with a guest as they are comfortable with. We can be available to check in, and then leave you to do as you wish, or we are also more than willing to socialize and show you around town. Whatever your comfort level may be, we can accomodate.
The area where we live is quiet and peaceful. But if you're a foodie, or looking for entertainment, Alberta St. is just a short walk away, and it has lots of great restaurants, music venues, and bars. We are more than happy to suggest some of our favorites. There is also easy access to downtown Portland via public transportation. Beaumont Village, also nearby, is a great place for breakfast/brunch. Wilshire Park, a 14 acre park, is only two blocks away. If you're looking for a relaxing sanctuary in the middle of the city, surrounded by unforgettable food, lively bars and great entertainment, you will love this neighborhood!
If you are driving, please park in our driveway, or directly in front of our house. If there are no spaces there, please be very careful to not block any driveways and to be considerate of our neighbors.
There is a bus line right around the corner that takes you to Hollywood transit center, where you can hop on a MAX line to take you into downtown. Or, if you don't want to switch, there is the 17 bus line, which is a few blocks away, that takes you directly into downtown. We are also happy to accomocate if you need a ride anywhere, for a minimal fee, per request. Our neighborhood is very safe, so walking and biking are also a great alternative to public transportation.
We are happy to include and airport pickup/dropoff in your booking. Be sure to ask when you book the room if you would like to be picked up/dropped off, and we will put you in our schedule. The drive is approximately 15 minutes.
We do have two cats, but they live upstairs in our private space and are not allowed in the common areas or guest bedrooms. Our dog lives exclusively outside in our backyard, and we know she would love some good pets if you're a dog person:) She is a Great Pyrenees, about 6 years old, around 80 lbs, and is very quiet, calm and well-behaved.
Wonderful home, inviting other guests, beautiful, clean and comfy room, ten thumbs up! I recommend it to anyone wanting to be in the great areas in Portland!
Had a great night's rest & some great conversation with Zach & Jade. Their full kitchen was great to use & the free coffee was delicious!
Great place to stay! Zach was easy to communicate with and the room/house was very clean and comfortable!
The house was really cool and Zach was very nice...I especially liked the robot vacuum.
I had a great stay with Jade and Zachary! A definite recommend.
We stayed here for a perfect weekend in January - beautiful weather, dry, sunny. The room was perfect - exactly as represented. House was clean with plenty of space - our room had big windows, great light and plenty of closet space. Bathroom was shared, but we never had to wait or fight for it, even though the house seemed full the whole time we were there (4 nights). The location is perfect - between Beaumont village and Alberta street in the NE, with most places walkable and accessible to public transport (though we rented a car that we parked on the street and drove everywhere). A great supermarket called New Seasons was only a few blocks away and we shopped and kept stuff in the fridge. Jade and Zachary put together a book of local restaurants - we were pleased with all that we tried; in addition Jade provided a bunch of books about Portland with info on local parks, walking tours, etc which we found really useful. And the house has wifi, which was also great (and free/ included in the rate). The only possibly weird thing was that our room did not lock. We've stayed at a lot of other airbnbs and always got two keys - one for the house and one for the room - that said, the house was always kept locked, and we didn't experience anything weird - no theft or things out of place - not that we would worry about Jade or Zachary, but maybe about other guests. For us, we just kept our valuables (iPads) with us when we went out, and didn't worry. Overall, we loved it - the neighborhood was quiet and perfectly residential, and we were close to all the stuff we wanted to do and see. Highly recommended!
Very nice room, situated in a "guest wing" with a large, shared bathroom stocked with cast-off bottles of soap and shampoo from previous guests (that's a good thing!)
Quiet neighborhood, off the beaten path but reasonably close to many places of interest -- convenient TriMet bus a block away.
I was the only guest on a Tuesday night, but Jade and Zack appear to take the accommodations quite seriously, as they had maps and resources available for visitors.
Great place to stay while visiting Portland for the weekend! Warm, clean, simple house with a nice bed. What more could you want?
It was a 15 minute walk to the restaurants and bars in the Alberta Arts District. We went to Bernie's for happy hour, Pok Pok Noi for dinner and Petite Provence for breakfast.
Zack was great at keeping in touch before our stay and coordinating a time to pick up keys and drop off our stuff. Very laid back environment. I would definitely come back and stay with them again!
Zachary's place was cozy and comfortable. With in walking distance to the NE Alberta restaurant hub. I would stay again!
Zach and Jade were fantastic hosts! We were greeted warmly, oriented to the (very lovely) home right away, and had a clean, spacious bedroom that fit us just right. Highly recommend anyone stay here for the house and neighborhood alone, let alone the proximity to downtown.
