We live in a quiet neighborhood in NE Portland that is near the Alberta Arts District. Downtown Portland is a short bus ride away and Alberta St. is only a 15 minute walk! Lots of great restaurants, bars and music venues, and other attractions in the vicinity.

The Space

We have a private master bedroom and small living room space available for guests. The house is a 3 level, 4 bedroom. Our private space is upstairs in the attic, but the rest of the house is available for the guests. The master bedroom is located on the lower level of the house and has it's own private bathroom. The bed has a beautiful upholstered headboard and an amazingly comfortable memory foam mattress. The living space next to the bedroom is exclusively for the use of guests staying in the master bedroom. Couches, blankets, dishes, a mini fridge and a microwave complete the suite allowing you full privacy, if desired.

There are also large common areas including the living room, dining room, and kitchen on the main floor, which are all available for guests to use.

Out back there is a yard with fruit trees, a deck and covered patio where guests may sit and relax. There is also a washer and dryer available for guests to use upon request for no extra charge. We provide linens, towels, and toiletries. We also have hair dryers and an ironing board.

Guest Access

Guests will have access to the entire house, except for the attic area and other guests' bedrooms on the main floor. Guests have full use of all common areas.

Interaction with Guests

We can have as much interaction with a guest as they are comfortable with. We can be available to check in, and then leave you to do as you wish, or we are also more than willing to socialize and show you around town. Whatever your comfort level may be, we can accomodate.

The Neighborhood

The area where we live is quiet and peaceful. But if you're a foodie, or looking for entertainment, Alberta St. is just a short walk away, and it has lots of great restaurants, music venues, and bars. We are more than happy to suggest some of our favorites. There is also easy access to downtown Portland via public transportation. Beaumont Village, also nearby, is a great place for breakfast/brunch. Wilshire Park, a 14 acre park, is only two blocks away. If you're looking for a relaxing sanctuary in the middle of the city, surrounded by unforgettable food, lively bars and great entertainment, you will love this neighborhood!

Getting around

If you are driving, please park in our driveway, or directly in front of our house. If there are no spaces there, please be very careful to not block any driveways and to be considerate of our neighbors.

There is a bus line right around the corner that takes you to Hollywood transit center, where you can hop on a MAX line to take you into downtown. Or, if you don't want to switch, there is the 17 bus line, which is a few blocks away, that takes you directly into downtown. We are also happy to accomocate if you need a ride anywhere, for a minimal fee, per request. Our neighborhood is very safe, so walking and biking are also a great alternative to public transportation.

Other Things to Note

Guests must mention if they are traveling with a RV or large vehicle + trailer, and must acquire pre-approval before booking.

We are happy to include and airport pickup/dropoff in your booking. Be sure to ask when you book the room if you would like to be picked up/dropped off, and we will put you in our schedule. The drive is approximately 15 minutes.

We do have two cats, but they live upstairs in our private space and are not allowed in the common areas or guest bedrooms. Our dog lives exclusively outside in our backyard, and we know she would love some good pets if you're a dog person:) She is a Great Pyrenees, about 6 years old, around 80 lbs, and is very quiet, calm and well-behaved.

  • A most comfortable stay-- Zach gave us a great tour when we arrived, and pointed out the layout as well as showed us all the amenities we had at our disposal (coffee, tea, water, boardgames, tons of great Portland guides). Though we didn't have time to use it, love that we also had our own mini kitchen and lounge area! The bathroom was stocked with great toiletries, and the room was so cozy. And the BED! I would rent out that bed if possible. It was heavenly!

  • Zachary was most gracious and the bed was very comfortable and the shower was difficult to get into (a clawfoot tub), but nice spray and hot water. Since we were visiting friends, sleeping was our main worry. Very quiet neighborhood and visited with a couple of friendly neighbors.

  • Zachary was a wonderful host. His property is inviting and well maintained, and he was considerate and accommodating. I would certainly stay at his property again.

  • Zachary was very welcoming. He was able to answer all my questions and had additional books, menus, and maps out to use during my stay. I area is beautiful! I walked around the blocks everyday, super friendly and amazing homes!

  • Zachary was prompt and helpful in his email communications, and very friendly in person. There is a good deal of information about the neighborhood and Portland available in the living room of the house, we used a couple of dining suggestions and were happy with them. The weather was perfect during our visit, it was great to relax in the back yard for a few hours in the afternoon. Alberta district is one of our favorite neighborhoods in PDX, Zachary's place is well located and provides a comfortable base for enjoying Portland.

  • Stayed in the private suite recently with two other friends and it was great!

  • Zach was a very gracious and helpful host! I made last minute plans to visit Portland and he was very accommodating and patient with my digital confusion. (sometimes technology eludes my old world brain) He set aside the private suite for me while I battled the digital forces and all worked out wonderfully. The suite was amazing! Private bath, sitting area outside the bedroom, very spacious and thoughtfully decorated, and that bed. The memory foam mattress is to die for! I could not have asked for a more comfortable stay. Zach and Jade are friendly, warm and caring hosts who add just the perfect amount of personal charm to a clean and comfortable house. The location is perfect too, just a short walk to Alberta Street, my favorite Portland neighborhood and some of the best food you will find in the city. If you stay at their house, don't forget to check out the back yard and say hi to Blanche, their fluffy white dog-she is the sweetest! Thank you Zach and Jade!!!

  • Our stay in Zach & Jades downstairs suite was great, and an excellent pick for our first airbnb trip. The suite was nicely decorated, very spacious, and generally very private (people come down to the basement to do laundry- no biggie). The bed was super comfy and the private bathroom was a big plus. House location is great- walking distance to Alberta Arts and multiple bus stops. About a $25 cab ride to PDX. The neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful! Zach & Jade went out of their way to be accommodating and friendly hosts, and I would definitely book with them again.

  • Zach and Jade were great. Super low key, I showed up, showed me around, gave me the keys and off I went. My first week was crazy and the little basement was great to chill out in and figure out my life (apartment hunting and new job all at once). Checked in plenty to see if I needed anything, which everything was provided and well cared for. Clean area and very comfortable bed.

I only warn other tall people that this space isn't the best for head room, including the shower. Of course, I'm 6'4" so it's a problem in a lot of spaces.

I'd highly recommend giving Zach a chance to host you when you come through Portland.

  • Perfect spot in a great location. I was specifically looking for something with a bit more room for a work related reason and got exactly what I needed from Zach's place. He runs it more like a real BnB (w/o the breakfast) but there's a coffee machine (and that's all I really need for the 2nd "B"). Didn't socialize too much with them as everyone was busy doing their own thing, however I sensed nothing but friendliness when interacting with Zach and his other guests. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for more of a true BnB experience (again...no bacon & eggs) with an apartment/suite type layout.

About
Jade and I are pretty easy going. We are well traveled and enjoy helping out fellow travelers. We have been to 30+ countries between the two of us and enjoy sharing stories and experiences. I enjoy watching movies and reading a good book. I am also a music fanatic. My favorite food is probably Thai food, but it's tough to decide. My favorite place I've been out of the country so far is Finland. There's just a pleasant wildness about the place that I enjoyed. My favorite place within the country is, of course, Portland! The Northwest is a wonderful area to visit. I believe in living life, so that when I pass on, I can look back on my life and have great memories and as little regret as possible. That's one of the reasons I've tried to travel so much. We hope to provide people with a pleasant stay and an opportunity to get the most out of their visit to Portland. Happy traveling!
