Private Suite Near Alberta Arts!

House - Private room · Northeast Cesar E Chavez Boulevard, Portland, OR 97211, United States

We live in a quiet neighborhood in NE Portland that is near the Alberta Arts District. Downtown Portland is a short bus ride away and Alberta St. is only a 15 minute walk! Lots of great restaurants, bars and music venues, and other attractions in the vicinity.

The Space

We have a private master bedroom and small living room space available for guests. The house is a 3 level, 4 bedroom. Our private space is upstairs in the attic, but the rest of the house is available for the guests. The master bedroom is located on the lower level of the house and has it's own private bathroom. The bed has a beautiful upholstered headboard and an amazingly comfortable memory foam mattress. The living space next to the bedroom is exclusively for the use of guests staying in the master bedroom. Couches, blankets, dishes, a mini fridge and a microwave complete the suite allowing you full privacy, if desired.

There are also large common areas including the living room, dining room, and kitchen on the main floor, which are all available for guests to use.

Out back there is a yard with fruit trees, a deck and covered patio where guests may sit and relax. There is also a washer and dryer available for guests to use upon request for no extra charge. We provide linens, towels, and toiletries. We also have hair dryers and an ironing board.

Guest Access

Guests will have access to the entire house, except for the attic area and other guests' bedrooms on the main floor. Guests have full use of all common areas.

Interaction with Guests

We can have as much interaction with a guest as they are comfortable with. We can be available to check in, and then leave you to do as you wish, or we are also more than willing to socialize and show you around town. Whatever your comfort level may be, we can accomodate.

The Neighborhood

The area where we live is quiet and peaceful. But if you're a foodie, or looking for entertainment, Alberta St. is just a short walk away, and it has lots of great restaurants, music venues, and bars. We are more than happy to suggest some of our favorites. There is also easy access to downtown Portland via public transportation. Beaumont Village, also nearby, is a great place for breakfast/brunch. Wilshire Park, a 14 acre park, is only two blocks away. If you're looking for a relaxing sanctuary in the middle of the city, surrounded by unforgettable food, lively bars and great entertainment, you will love this neighborhood!

Getting around

If you are driving, please park in our driveway, or directly in front of our house. If there are no spaces there, please be very careful to not block any driveways and to be considerate of our neighbors.

There is a bus line right around the corner that takes you to Hollywood transit center, where you can hop on a MAX line to take you into downtown. Or, if you don't want to switch, there is the 17 bus line, which is a few blocks away, that takes you directly into downtown. We are also happy to accomocate if you need a ride anywhere, for a minimal fee, per request. Our neighborhood is very safe, so walking and biking are also a great alternative to public transportation.

Other Things to Note

We are happy to include and airport pickup/dropoff in your booking. Be sure to ask when you book the room if you would like to be picked up/dropped off, and we will put you in our schedule. The drive is approximately 15 minutes.

We do have two cats, but they live upstairs in our private space and are not allowed in the common areas or guest bedrooms. Our dog lives exclusively outside in our backyard, and we know she would love some good pets if you're a dog person:) She is a Great Pyrenees, about 6 years old, around 80 lbs, and is very quiet, calm and well-behaved.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Our stay in Zach & Jades downstairs suite was great, and an excellent pick for our first airbnb trip. The suite was nicely decorated, very spacious, and generally very private (people come down to the basement to do laundry- no biggie). The bed was super comfy and the private bathroom was a big plus. House location is great- walking distance to Alberta Arts and multiple bus stops. About a $25 cab ride to PDX. The neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful! Zach & Jade went out of their way to be accommodating and friendly hosts, and I would definitely book with them again.

  • Zach and Jade were great. Super low key, I showed up, showed me around, gave me the keys and off I went. My first week was crazy and the little basement was great to chill out in and figure out my life (apartment hunting and new job all at once). Checked in plenty to see if I needed anything, which everything was provided and well cared for. Clean area and very comfortable bed.

I only warn other tall people that this space isn't the best for head room, including the shower. Of course, I'm 6'4" so it's a problem in a lot of spaces.

I'd highly recommend giving Zach a chance to host you when you come through Portland.

  • Perfect spot in a great location. I was specifically looking for something with a bit more room for a work related reason and got exactly what I needed from Zach's place. He runs it more like a real BnB (w/o the breakfast) but there's a coffee machine (and that's all I really need for the 2nd "B"). Didn't socialize too much with them as everyone was busy doing their own thing, however I sensed nothing but friendliness when interacting with Zach and his other guests. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for more of a true BnB experience ( bacon & eggs) with an apartment/suite type layout.

  • What a great place to stay in Portland! We had the basement to ourselves with a full bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchenette area. Lots of great amenities and privacy, and both within close walking and driving distance to several restaurants and shops. We really enjoyed getting to know the places on Alberta Street, which were about a mile or so's walk away. Thank you, Zachary!

  • We enjoyed every minute of our stay at The Greenhouse! Zach & Jade were the sweetest, most accommodating, friendliest and helpful hosts ever. They picked us up from the train station, gave us lots of tips, had a folder full of menus for local restaurants to help us choose where to eat, and they even lent us some great guidebooks for the area. The room was spacious, cosy, and clean, and the bed had a gorgeous headboard and the most luxurious memory foam mattress I've ever laid on. The room had an en suite bathroom with a lion foot bath and underfloor heating, and we had the whole basement to ourselves including a chill out area with a kitchenette to use if we didn’t fancy socialising upstairs. The rest of the house was super homely, warm and clean, and the neighbourhood was lovely. The very cool Alberta St with lots of shops, restaurants and galleries was just a short stroll from the house, and Beaumont Village was easily accessible in the other direction, taking the bus downtown was also a breeze. I couldn't have wished for a nicer or more authentic place to experience Portland from, and really hope we get to come back some day!

  • Zachary was quickly responsive to my booking request, which was important since I decided I would find lodging on short notice.

Very hospitable and polite, showed me around the home and where everything could be located, including ice if I needed it, filtered water, etc.

The living area downstairs was spacious, and comfortable. The bed was a wonderful memory foam that I melted into after a long day of exploring.
I also enjoyed the claw foot bath tub and the space heater they provided in case I got cold, which I did.

A short walk to the Alberta area, and coffee shops just a few blocks away. I tried the deli on Skidmore and it was yummy.

    Great experience.

  • Zach's place was perfect. Clean, warm, comfy bed, nicely appointed bathroom. Everything we could have wanted, and more. He goes the extra mile for his guests.

  • The Private Suite Near Alberta Arts was wonderful. The home is in a lovely, quiet residential area, close to a park, and centrally located. Zach greeted me, showed me around the home (well appointed, serviceable, and comfortable) and helped me with my bag. The suite was in the basement and there were several stairs to negotiate, which initially I felt scared about, and turned out to be a non-issue.

And it was a suite! In addition to the living/bed (bed was super comfy, the space heater kept the room cozy-warm) area and private bath, there was another 'sitting room' with microwave, mini frig, sink, dishes and cutlery and a place to sit and hang out. Better and more than I expected!

I met 2 of the guests who were very pleasant; and even though the house was full of guests, it was pretty quiet and peaceful.

This was my first AirBnB experience, and it was great. I highly recommend Zach and would stay again.

  • Zach and Jade were wonderful hosts. The apartment is very clean and spacious, and the two went above-and-beyond in making the stay comfortable. If I were to head to Portland again in the near future, their listing on AirBNB will probably be my first stop.

Jade and I are pretty easy going. We are well traveled and enjoy helping out fellow travelers. We have been to 30+ countries between the two of us and enjoy sharing stories and experiences. I enjoy watching movies and reading a good book. I am also a music fanatic. My favorite food is probably Thai food, but it's tough to decide. My favorite place I've been out of the country so far is Finland. There's just a pleasant wildness about the place that I enjoyed. My favorite place within the country is, of course, Portland! The Northwest is a wonderful area to visit. I believe in living life, so that when I pass on, I can look back on my life and have great memories and as little regret as possible. That's one of the reasons I've tried to travel so much. We hope to provide people with a pleasant stay and an opportunity to get the most out of their visit to Portland. Happy traveling!
