Description

The space

I have a private master bedroom and living room space available for guests. The house is a 3 level, 4 bedroom. My private space is downstairs in the basement, but the rest of the house is available for the guests. The master bedroom is located on the upper level of the house and has it's own private bathroom. The bed has an amazingly comfortable memory foam mattress.

There are also large common areas including the living room, dining room, and kitchen on the main floor, which are all available for guests to use.

Out back there is a yard with fruit trees, a deck and a patio where guests may sit and relax.

We provide linens, towels, and toiletries. We also have hair dryers and an ironing board.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the entire house, except for the basement area and other guests' bedrooms on the main floor. Guests have full use of all common areas.

Interaction with guests

I can have as much interaction with a guest as they are comfortable with. I can be available to check in, and then leave you to do as you wish, or I am also more than willing to socialize, if time allows. Whatever your comfort level may be, I can accomodate.

The neighborhood

The area where we live is quiet and peaceful. But if you're a foodie, or looking for entertainment, Alberta St. is just a short walk away, and it has lots of great restaurants, music venues, and bars. We are more than happy to suggest some of our favorites. There is also easy access to downtown Portland via public transportation. Beaumont Village, also nearby, is a great place for breakfast/brunch. Wilshire Park, a 14 acre park, is only two blocks away. If you're looking for a relaxing sanctuary in the middle of the city, surrounded by unforgettable food, lively bars and great entertainment, you will love this neighborhood!

Getting around

If you are driving, please park in our driveway, or directly in front of our house. If there are no spaces there, please be very careful to not block any driveways and to be considerate of our neighbors.

There is a bus line right around the corner that takes you to Hollywood transit center, where you can hop on a MAX line to take you into downtown. Or, if you don't want to switch, there is the 17 bus line, which is a few blocks away, that takes you directly into downtown. We are also happy to accomocate if you need a ride anywhere, for a minimal fee, per request. Our neighborhood is very safe, so walking and biking are also a great alternative to public transportation.

Other things to note

Guests must mention if they are traveling with a RV or large vehicle + trailer, and must acquire pre-approval before booking.

I do have two cats, but they live downstairs in my private space and are not allowed in the common areas or guest bedrooms. -RS

It has potential, but this place needs a bit of work before we would ever go back. Paint peeling, ceiling is too low to walk straight, random extra bed scattered in the attic room that we stayed, no lock on the door to the bedroom, trashcan with dirty feminine hygiene products left from another guest, ants on the first floor. This room is located in the attic, and the construction quality was somewhat questionable, it looks like they had salvaged parts from another house to create the space. For example, the water faucet in the sink was actually a shower head. The location was convenient, the price was cheaper than eight motel eight, and the host was friendly. It was not terrible for a last-minute place to crash in Portland.

Zachary's place was awesome! We were there for less than 24 hours, but it was a great location and we'd definitely come back here next time.

Zachary's place is very roomy and comfortable with access to a full kitchen making it a great value, especially if traveling with family. Zachary was kind and clear with communication and check-in was easy. I would stay again.

I'm pretty easy going. I am well traveled and enjoy helping out fellow travelers. I have been to 20+ countries and enjoy sharing stories and experiences.

I enjoy watching movies and reading a good book. I am also a music fanatic. My favorite food is probably Thai food, but it's tough to decide.

My favorite place I've been out of the country so far is Finland. There's just a pleasant wildness about the place that I enjoyed. My favorite place within the country is, of course, Portland! The Northwest is a wonderful area to visit.

I believe in living life, so that when I pass on, I can look back on my life and have great memories and as little regret as possible. That's one of the reasons I've tried to travel so much.

I hope to provide people with a pleasant stay and an opportunity to get the most out of their visit to Portland.

Happy traveling!
