About This Listing
We live in a quiet neighborhood in NE Portland that is near the Alberta Arts District. Downtown Portland is a short bus ride away and Alberta St. is only a 15 minute walk! Lots of great restaurants, bars and music venues, and other attractions in the vicinity.
We have a private master bedroom and small living room space available for guests. The house is a 3 level, 4 bedroom. Our private space is upstairs in the attic, but the rest of the house is available for the guests. The master bedroom is located on the lower level of the house and has it's own private bathroom. The bed has a beautiful upholstered headboard and an amazingly comfortable memory foam mattress. The living space next to the bedroom is exclusively for the use of guests staying in the master bedroom. Couches, blankets, dishes, a mini fridge and a microwave complete the suite allowing you full privacy, if desired.
There are also large common areas including the living room, dining room, and kitchen on the main floor, which are all available for guests to use.
Out back there is a yard with fruit trees, a deck and covered patio where guests may sit and relax. There is also a washer and dryer available for guests to use upon request for no extra charge. We provide linens, towels, and toiletries. We also have hair dryers and an ironing board.
Guests will have access to the entire house, except for the attic area and other guests' bedrooms on the main floor. Guests have full use of all common areas.
Interaction with Guests
We can have as much interaction with a guest as they are comfortable with. We can be available to check in, and then leave you to do as you wish, or we are also more than willing to socialize and show you around town. Whatever your comfort level may be, we can accomodate.
The area where we live is quiet and peaceful. But if you're a foodie, or looking for entertainment, Alberta St. is just a short walk away, and it has lots of great restaurants, music venues, and bars. We are more than happy to suggest some of our favorites. There is also easy access to downtown Portland via public transportation. Beaumont Village, also nearby, is a great place for breakfast/brunch. Wilshire Park, a 14 acre park, is only two blocks away. If you're looking for a relaxing sanctuary in the middle of the city, surrounded by unforgettable food, lively bars and great entertainment, you will love this neighborhood!
If you are driving, please park in our driveway, or directly in front of our house. If there are no spaces there, please be very careful to not block any driveways and to be considerate of our neighbors.
There is a bus line right around the corner that takes you to Hollywood transit center, where you can hop on a MAX line to take you into downtown. Or, if you don't want to switch, there is the 17 bus line, which is a few blocks away, that takes you directly into downtown. We are also happy to accomocate if you need a ride anywhere, for a minimal fee, per request. Our neighborhood is very safe, so walking and biking are also a great alternative to public transportation.

We do have two cats, but they live upstairs in our private space and are not allowed in the common areas or guest bedrooms. Our dog lives exclusively outside in our backyard, and we know she would love some good pets if you're a dog person:) She is a Great Pyrenees, about 6 years old, around 80 lbs, and is very quiet, calm and well-behaved.

Great stay - was a nice tucked away area downstairs, and extremely clean and well kept. In a great neighbourhood as well! Thanks for having us.
Neighborhood was comfortably middle class residential. Host greeted me and showed me room , bath and amenities. Room is comfortable but perspective in pic makes it look bigger than it is. My stay was very brief. In at end of day after event and out by 730AM for next day event. No problems or issues and the price beats all but the lowest quality motels.
This place is amazing and Zach is a wonderful host! The location of the house is really optimal for all Portland visitors. It is walking distance to Alberta arts district (with all the happening stuff, restaurants, music, and much more ) but also close to the airport and transit making it easy to do anything you wish in a day. Zach really went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable at the house. If you're looking for a home away from home in Portland, this is it. The house has a rare calming feel..One that is rare when you are out of your element. I would most definitely stay again!
My boyfriend and I stayed at Zachary's place and were very happy with the accommodations. The house was cute, tidy, and the basement where the room was in was very private and spacious. Upon arrival we let ourselves in with a key that was in a lockbox which Zachary gave us the code for ahead of time, and we met him later that evening; he was very hospitable. The location of the house was walking distance to all of the great restaurants and shops on Alberta street, as well as only a few blocks from bus routes. Also, there were many Portland "to do" guides and coffee table books to browse in the home which was a nice option to have. I would definitely recommend and stay again!

About the Host, Zachary
Jade and I are pretty easy going. We are well traveled and enjoy helping out fellow travelers. We have been to 30+ countries between the two of us and enjoy sharing stories and experiences.
I enjoy watching movies and reading a good book. I am also a music fanatic. My favorite food is probably Thai food, but it's tough to decide.
My favorite place I've been out of the country so far is Finland. There's just a pleasant wildness about the place that I enjoyed. My favorite place within the country is, of course, Portland! The Northwest is a wonderful area to visit.
I believe in living life, so that when I pass on, I can look back on my life and have great memories and as little regret as possible. That's one of the reasons I've tried to travel so much.
We hope to provide people with a pleasant stay and an opportunity to get the most out of their visit to Portland.
