We live in a quiet neighborhood in NE Portland that is near the Alberta Arts District. Downtown Portland is a short bus ride away and Alberta St. is only a 15 minute walk! There are a lot of great restaurants, music venues, bars and lounges in the vicinity. Foodies welcome:)
We have a 3 bedroom, 2 bath space available for guests. The house is 3 levels with 4 bedrooms. Our private space (where we live) is upstairs in the attic and the rest of the 3bed/2bath space is available for guests. On the main level we have one large bedroom with a queen sized, four-poster bed, and a medium sized bedroom with a set of bunk beds with pillow-top mattresses. These two rooms share a bathroom. In the basement there is a Master bedroom with a queen sized bed, complete with a memory foam mattress, and a private bath with a claw-foot tub.
There are also large common areas including the living room, dining room, and kitchen, which are all for guest use. Additionally, we have set up a common area on the lower level specifically for guests to relax and enjoy some privacy.
Out back there is a yard with fruit trees, a deck and covered patio where guests may sit and relax. There is also a washer and dryer available for guests to use upon request for no extra charge. We provide linens, towels, and toiletries. We also have hair dryers and an ironing board.
Guests will have access to the entire house, except for the attic area, which is our private space. Guests have full use of all common areas. We may come into the kitchen every once in a while to fix a meal, but other than that, the house is yours!
Interaction with Guests
We can have as much interaction with a guest as they are comfortable with. We can be available to check in, and then leave you to do as you wish, or we are also more than willing to socialize and show you around town. Whatever your comfort level may be, we can accomodate.
The area where we live is quiet and peaceful. But if you're a foodie, or looking for entertainment, Alberta St. is just a short walk away, and it has lots of great restaurants, music venues, and bars. We are more than happy to suggest some of our favorites. There is also easy access to downtown Portland via public transportation. Beaumont Village, also nearby, is a great place for breakfast/brunch. Wilshire Park, a 14 acre park, is only two blocks away. If you're looking for a relaxing sanctuary in the middle of the city, surrounded by unforgettable food, lively bars and great entertainment, you will love this neighborhood!
If you are driving, please park in our driveway, or directly in front of our house. If there are no spaces there, please be very careful to not block any driveways and to be considerate of our neighbors.
There is a bus line right around the corner that takes you to Hollywood transit center, where you can hop on a MAX line to take you into downtown. Or, if you don't want to switch, there is the 17 bus line, which is a few blocks away, that takes you directly into downtown. We are also happy to accomocate if you need a ride anywhere, for a minimal fee, per request. Our neighborhood is very safe, so walking and biking are also a great alternative to public transportation.

Zach's home was a good fit for our brief 2-night stay in the Portland. Proximity to airport, local attractions, cute neighborhood were bonus. Beds and linens were comfortable and clean and hang-out/dining area fit our cooking and relaxing needs. Thank you!
Zach was a very pleasant host, friendly, but non-obtrusive. His house was a perfect base for our visit -- very comfortable for the six of us and many thoughtful details like extra toiletries. The neighborhood was great and I only wish we'd had more time to explore it, but we were primarily in town for a family event.
Lorna (Zach's sister) was very welcoming and gave us a tour upon check in. We felt we had plenty of room between the 5 of us (4 adults and 1 child). The home was cozy and the location was within a short drive from Alberta St, which we loved.
Admittedly, I hadn't carefully read through the description and only realized after I booked the home that the owners live in the attic. I think it'd be ideal to advertise as rooms for rent rather than the entire house for this reason. Despite being out of our comfort zone to rent rooms in someone's house, Lorna went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. Thanks for the stay!
The home was great and in a wonderful location. The only thing to be aware of, is it's listed as Entire Home. However, the host does stay in the top part of the house.
Great spacious, cozy, and comfortable home in a wonderful neighborhood. It's walking distance from the park and close to the Alberta district which is super convenient. The hosts were very accommodating, and we appreciated their rapid communication which kept us from having any mishaps. They had a great selection of books, games, magazines, and art to enjoy. Definitely a lovely place for a family retreat, I just wish we would've had more time there.
We had a great time staying at Zach's place on a rainy day in Portland. Very good location for traveling to Columbia River Gorge. We were traveling in a group of 6 people (3 girls and 3 guys). All of us were able to have a room to sleep and had great rest at Zach's cozy place.
In a word, easy. Zachary responded quickly to a last minute request. His Sister Lorna stepped in to greet us. The place was exactly as advertised. Great space for friends or groups who appreciate spreading out. They even let us use their washer & dryer, which I think was above & beyond. The place was neat & clean. It was near great good. I had the best mussels ever at the Whiskey Branch, recommended by our hostess. Tin shed for breakfast was also memorable. Both were 5 minutes by car. PDX less than 15 minutes. Easy easy easy from beginning to end. I give this place my highest recommendation. Thanks Lorna!

Jade and I are pretty easy going. We are well traveled and enjoy helping out fellow travelers. We have been to 30+ countries between the two of us and enjoy sharing stories and experiences.
I enjoy watching movies and reading a good book. I am also a music fanatic. My favorite food is probably Thai food, but it's tough to decide.
My favorite place I've been out of the country so far is Finland. There's just a pleasant wildness about the place that I enjoyed. My favorite place within the country is, of course, Portland! The Northwest is a wonderful area to visit.
I believe in living life, so that when I pass on, I can look back on my life and have great memories and as little regret as possible. That's one of the reasons I've tried to travel so much.
We hope to provide people with a pleasant stay and an opportunity to get the most out of their visit to Portland.
