About this listing
We live in a quiet neighborhood in NE Portland that is near the Alberta Arts District. Downtown Portland is a short bus ride away and Alberta St. is only a 15 minute walk! There are a lot of great restaurants, music venues, bars and lounges in the vicinity. Foodies welcome:)
We have a 3 bedroom, 2 bath space available for guests. The house is 3 levels with 4 bedrooms. Our private space (where we live) is downstairs in the basement and the rest of the 3bed/2bath space is available for guests. On the main level we have one large bedroom with a queen sized, four-poster bed, and a medium sized bedroom with a set of bunk beds with pillow-top mattresses. These two rooms share a bathroom. In the attic there is a Master bedroom with a queen sized bed, complete with a memory foam mattress, and a private bath with a shower and claw-foot tub.
There are also large common areas including the living room, dining room, and kitchen, which are all for guest use.
Out back there is a yard with fruit trees, a deck and patio where guests may sit and relax. There is also a washer and dryer available for guests to use upon request for no extra charge. We provide linens, towels, and toiletries. We also have hair dryers and an ironing board.
Guests will have access to the entire house, except for the basement area, which is our private space. Guests have full use of all common areas. We may come into the kitchen every once in a while to fix a meal, but other than that, the house is yours!
Interaction with Guests
We can have as much interaction with a guest as they are comfortable with. We can be available to check in, and then leave you to do as you wish, or we are also more than willing to socialize and show you around town. Whatever your comfort level may be, we can accomodate.
The area where we live is quiet and peaceful. But if you're a foodie, or looking for entertainment, Alberta St. is just a short walk away, and it has lots of great restaurants, music venues, and bars. We are more than happy to suggest some of our favorites. There is also easy access to downtown Portland via public transportation. Beaumont Village, also nearby, is a great place for breakfast/brunch. Wilshire Park, a 14 acre park, is only two blocks away. If you're looking for a relaxing sanctuary in the middle of the city, surrounded by unforgettable food, lively bars and great entertainment, you will love this neighborhood!
If you are driving, please park in our driveway, or directly in front of our house. If there are no spaces there, please be very careful to not block any driveways and to be considerate of our neighbors.
There is a bus line right around the corner that takes you to Hollywood transit center, where you can hop on a MAX line to take you into downtown. Or, if you don't want to switch, there is the 17 bus line, which is a few blocks away, that takes you directly into downtown. We are also happy to accomocate if you need a ride anywhere, for a minimal fee, per request. Our neighborhood is very safe, so walking and biking are also a great alternative to public transportation.

Zach was a great host, and the neighborhood was excellent! Loved how close it was to Alberta, and the house itself was a treat. Loved the back patio and all the games.
Zach was very responsive and communicative before my family's trip. The home comfortably sleeps 8 people. I would highly recommend it!
Zachary was an awesome host. Everything was timely and professional. Thank you for great accommodations
We felt welcomed when we arrived but the description of the home was inaccurate. We thought we were sleeping in the basement but instead was given the attic with a mattress on the floor. A frame came in two days later and was assembled.
House was not as clean as we expected and there were only 4 chairs in the dining area. We had six adults. Fire pit outside with no chairs to sit around it.
I explained to Sharie and her group once they arrived that I had recently made the move from the attic to the basement. I had been living in the attic before, but felt it would be more practical to stay in the basement, as the attic made for a better guest space. I also explained to her that, because of the move, I had ordered a new frame for the attic bed, but it had not come in yet because of a delivery delay. As she mentioned, the frame came in two days later and I assembled it for them.
There is a fire pit outside, and there are chairs outside. It is a simple process to move the chairs around the firepit. I would have even done it for them if they had told me that's what they wanted.
Sharie and her group did not bring up any of these issues during their stay with me. They acted cheerful and like everything was fine. I cannot do anything to resolve any problems if I am not aware that there are any problems in the first place.
The location and the neighborhood was just perfect, and welcoming. Zachary made us all feel like family, making our journey and experience that much more enjoyable. I recommend zachs place to stay because with him, you have no worries
Zachary was extremely helpful with indications and the reservation. THe process was so easy and the location was not super close to Portland downtown but looks like a very nice neighborhood. It was the 4th of July so that complicated a little bit transportation for us. :)
The house is in really good shape and the rooms and restrooms were comfy and clean. The kitchen could have been cleaner but we didn't use it. I am not sure if there are animals in the house but when we got there, it smelled a little bit like it or it might have been the house had been closed for too long.
Overall the experience was great. Thanks so much Zach!
The house and host were wonderful, exactly what we wanted. The descriptions provided by the listing were accurate and comprehensive, and Zach answered all questions quickly, concisely, and completely before we committed and any time I had a question up until and including the stay. Zach was super clear and super chill at the same time on house and neighborhood rules :-) - exactly the right balance - clarity and a relaxed attitude - well done. The foyer had many brochures for the city that were useful, and there was a super easy way of leaving the key on the way on the way out. We had great time, and we felt like we enjoyed an AirBnB experience that was respectful of the neighborhood and a benefit to both resident and guests.
I would absolutely stay here again, and I recommend it to others.
The house is located in a great section of town for us - close enough to everything we wanted within short driving distance, and walking distance to a park, a coffee shop, a store, and many wonderful gardens and neighborhoods. The location was very quiet and peaceful.
The house has many great spaces for sleeping and conversing, reading, cooking, playing games. The house is fully furnished and supplied (as you would expect - they live there!). The AC was fantastic during the heatwave - quiet and effective; the bathwater was hot; we tried not to waste either. The icemaker and the frig were terrific... yes, we liked the icemaker and cool water dispenser a lot :-). The bathrooms - one on each floor with bedrooms - both had showers and tubs. Extra supplies were easy to find.
The price was very reasonable and a great deal for all the amenities and advantages it provided. Great job! Thank you.

About the Host, Zachary
I'm pretty easy going. I am well traveled and enjoy helping out fellow travelers. I have been to 20+ countries and enjoy sharing stories and experiences.
I enjoy watching movies and reading a good book. I am also a music fanatic. My favorite food is probably Thai food, but it's tough to decide.
My favorite place I've been out of the country so far is Finland. There's just a pleasant wildness about the place that I enjoyed. My favorite place within the country is, of course, Portland! The Northwest is a wonderful area to visit.
I believe in living life, so that when I pass on, I can look back on my life and have great memories and as little regret as possible. That's one of the reasons I've tried to travel so much.
I hope to provide people with a pleasant stay and an opportunity to get the most out of their visit to Portland.
