The 'South Beach Local' or 'SBL' is one of the most heavily-used lines in Miami, and connects all major points of South Beach to other major bus lines in the city. The host made me feel very welcome. I met almost all her family and the first day she invited me to great Mojitos while I waited for my friend to arrive to South Beach. On Saturday, she invited me to another of her apartments, which has a pool, and I spent my evening there. When a lamp bulb went bad she immediately came over and fix it. On the last day I was about to spend the night in since my friend had already left and she presented me two other girls that were staying upstairs and we went out. I really like the Española Way neighbor and would stay there next time.
Gabriela and her mother Maria were terrific. Gabriela responded to my messages very promptly. Maria met me with the keys and dropped me off at the studio. The studio itself is in a great location and easily walkable to key areas in south beach. Good size for 1 or 2 people. The main bed was a bit uncomfortable and the bathroom was very small and awkward. The hosts were great and I would recommend working with them as they have other apartments to offer.
We were received by Gabriela's Grandmother and Mother who were very friendly and helped us with indications to move around Miami. The apartment was just like the pictures very nice and well located, the only detail was the bathroom a little bit small and oddly distributed .
We originally planned on staying in Miami Fri-Tues during WMC and then changed to Thursday-tues. There was some misunderstanding on the arrangement on Gabriela's end, but she was accommodating due to her mistake and found a place for us to stay. The address was 552 Euclid. The location was great, and we could walk to the beach. The unit however was 2 stars at most. It was very old, and if you're familiar with south beach, the unit would cost about $85k (we looked online) if that gives you an idea of what we were working with. I couldn't hardly find a plug in the unit to blow dry my hair. The one in the bathroom doesn't work, if I used the extension cord strip the breaker would blow, so I had to blow dry my hair in the kitchen. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. And the only AC was a window unit that either had the unit freezing cold or two hot. Luckily, we were barely there besides to shower and change or sleep. They make you think they are official by having you meet them at a travel office, but the travel office is also a dump once you arrive. Our local friend even said that it wasn't in the best area and heard a lot of commotion at night. I definitely would not recommend for girls staying alone. Overall, extremely disappointed in the experience. You get what you pay for, pay another $100 and be able to stay comfortably.
Ashley if you would of booked all the original dates like you were supposed to, you would of stayed in the actual apartment that "corresponded to you". Instead you were blowing up my phone saying you needed a place as soon as possible to stay in Miami and for me to help you. You came in during WMC, busiest time to come to Miami & you know that. So for you to bash the place shows what type of person you are, extremely low class.
The studio looks just as it does in the pictures. It has everything you will need during your stay. We didn't get to meet Gabriela during our stay but we did meet her mother and two other gentlemen from her office, they were all very nice. Her mother drove us to the studio from the office and gave us information about the surrounding neighborhood. It is a very nice and quiet neighborhood which is always nice after spending time near Ocean Drive. The studio is a few blocks away from the beach but the walk is not very far. There are restaurants nearby and a park. Would definitely stay here again.
Comfortable bed a few blocks from the beach, Lincoln Road, and the New World Symphony Center, an ideal location for us. Bonus: Flamingo Park across the street, with tennis, playground, pool, soccer, paddleball.
This small, dark studio is on a quiet block of Espanola Way so you can roll out of bed for a fabulous breakfast after a very short walk (2 blocks) to a charming district with a European feel. The neighborhood is peaceful.
There are some quirks in the unit's plumbing and wiring so be sure to ask for details on how to turn on the shower and how to NOT turn off the refrigerator.
