A magical Redwood Treehouse located it the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. There (email hidden) tree growing right through the main living area and another in the bathroom! It is simply incredible. It was built by my friend, Randy, a stained glass artist. Everyone who sees it are delighted by it.
Please read entire description before making a reservation request.
It has a delicious high-bed, a kitchen with a small stove and refrigerator, and typical cooking tools. There is a full bathroom with shower and toilet of course.
There is now a hot-tub at about 103 degrees ready for your soak before bed or a morning treat.
The Treehouse is a short walk of a few hundred yards (about four minutes) through the beautiful woods from the parking area.
There is a gas stove for heating. There is a TV and DVD player with many movies to choose from.
Redwood Treehouse comes with its own cat, Grey, who lives outside. She is employed as a mouser and does a fine job. She is friendly and loves attention.
For travelers this is the best of both worlds. A wonderful treehouse nestled in the redwood forest, a short distance to HWY 1(Pacific Coast HWY) the main vein to Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, Capitola and Santa Cruz and the HWY 101 Corridor.
People come from all over the world to experience the Pacific Coast specifically the Monterey Bay area. It is an area rich in history. Here you will find world class art, music, cuisine, golf, surfing, sightseeing, hiking, biking, sunbathing, whale watching, birding, fishing, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and so much more. You can spend the day engaged in a variety of activities, physical and/or cultural. However you spend your day you can return home to a mountain treehouse and quiet.
The weather here is excellent. It is located in a micro climate called a ‘banana belt’. Though the beach is only 25 minutes away we are often in the sun when our neighbors in the valley and on the coast are in the fog. Winters are mild we average 25” of rainfall a year. Summers can be warm but delightful. The fog rolling in at night is nature’s air conditioner and everything cools down. The weather is nearly perfect. Fog burns off early enough to make the beaches comfortable all day.
The Santa Cruz Mountains are home to Sequoia Sempervirens commonly known as a Redwood Tree. They are native only to a specific part of Pacific Coast region.

My wife & I spent a wonderful long weekend among the redwoods in a magical tree-house. We cooked a few meals in the simple but well equipped kitchen, hung out in the hot tub and sat around playing games and reading books. While it was super isolated we also went into Santa Cruz and Watsonville a couple of times - they're both close enough for little trips.
The experience and in the tree house was absolutely amazing! It is located in a beautiful area, and it is very quiet and peaceful. We loved that we could relax in the mountains, or take a short drive to Santa Cruz or Capitola. It was a wonderful honeymoon!

We didn't get to meet Mary Jane, but she was quite responsive via airbnb messaging so we knew just what to do during check in and check out. It was quite fun to stay in a treehouse of course. It was a little different than I expected. I thought it would be secluded in the forest with lots of opportunity for hiking and exploring. It was in the forest, but not so secluded with a couple of houses close by. Guests are asked not to hike right around the treehouse due to respecting the privacy of the neighbors. We did find another road to walk down so still did get a bit of a hike in.
Though we didn't see Gray, there was another cat who visited one morning, so perhaps the treehouse will have a new furry friend.
Just absolutely amazing. It was cozy, the hot tub was glorious, I slept probably 12 hours the first night. Woke up on Sunday to the fog + sunlight streaming in through the redwoods. I can't wait to be back. Mary Jane and Marty were gracious and responsive hosts, I felt very taken care of but also given my space to write and rest. Thank you both!!
The treehouse was so wonderful. Very clean. I could stay for weeks! The hot tub was beautiful under the trees. Thanks so much Mary Jane.
Mary Jane's Redwood Tree house was one of the most beautiful, if not THE most lovely places I have ever stayed. I woke up there on my 50th birthday feeling completely relaxed and serene. My boyfriend and I were so surprised at how well equipped and comfortable it was. One hears "treehouse" and you think "quaint, yet rustic and lacking in basic amenities". This fabulous place had everything we needed.
We wished we could have stayed longer, if not forever!
We highly recommend this place!
We stayed one night at the Redwood Treehouse and it was such a wonderful experience for us all! We loved soaking in the hot tub under the redwood canopy and the tree house itself is amazing! It is a lot more spacious than I thought with the high ceilings and made for a great nights sleep. We live close by in Santa Cruz and we get lucky enough to come back in the future. We could not have asked for a better host or stay.
Mary Jane and Marty went above and beyond to make this a memorable experience for my girlfriend and me. I wanted to surprise my girlfriend with an all-day adventure leading to the treehouse, and they helped me with the last piece of the puzzle. Boy, was she ever surprised seeing the place as we approached on the trail!
The treehouse itself is absolutely beautiful. While there are other properties around, you might not even realize it because the woods give a good feeling of isolation. The hot tub was ready when we arrived, and the whole place was immaculately maintained. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and there were enough utensils/supplies in the kitchen for us to make several meals. I'd definitely recommend bringing some food to make, as it's a little trek to get more. Besides, when you're in a place this lovely, why would you want to leave?
Sadly, it appears that Grey -- the resident cat on the property -- hasn't been seen in quite some time. Past reviewers have all mentioned she was a sweetheart and great company, and we were looking forward to meeting her.
Nevertheless, the entire experience at the treehouse was nothing less than perfect. From the caring, extra-mile hosts to the magic of the forest to the hot tub to the fact that it's a FREAKING TREEHOUSE, you really can't ask for more.
We'll definitely try to come back one day!
