This is your opportunity to sleep in a beautiful picture postcard thatched cottage. The cottage is 250 years old and your bedroom is in the original cottage under the thatch. There is a large extension out the back which contains a sitting room with a real fire place which burns turf (peat) and a beautiful bathroom with a bath and shower. This bathroom would be for your sole use.
The bedroom is a good size double room with a very comfortable bed.. You would also have the use of a fully equipped kitchen,a dining room with a 200 year old dresser (hutch) and a sitting room, I provide a continental style breakfast with home made breads and scones, fruit, yoghurt and tea and freshly brewed coffee.
Moycullen is a pleasant village, a 20 minute drive from Galway city situated on the shores of lough Corrib. Moycullen is considered to be the gateway to Connemara as it is on the main road to Clifden, the main town in Connemara. It is an ideal base to explore Connemara National Park and the Aran islands and of course Galway city, the cultural capital of Ireland with its vibrant arts scene and colourful narrow streets. There are bus connections to Clifden and Galway city.
.Moycullen itself is a charming small village with a large supermarket and a range of bars and restaurants,There is a wonderful Friday food market. It is rural living at its best while being a short drive from the vibrancy of Galway city.
This is a truly unique opportunity to experience country cottage living and the best of irish hospitality.
You will be guests in my house and will have free access to the kitchen and living room. I would like guests to feel at home and to know that they are welcome to share my space.
Interaction with Guests
As much as they want. I tend to follow the guests lead on this. I am happy to chat and offer advice but equally am happy to give guests space and leave them to their own devices.
Moycullen is a lovely community where people are friendly. It has great amenities- restaurants, pubs, a good supermarket and even a health food shop. It is about 15 min drive to the coast (Spiddal) and a 20 min drive to Galway city. It is situated on the main road to Clifden so you would have a head start in the morning as you head out to tour Connemara.
It is not really feasible to travel by public transport- you would really need a car. If you are depending on public transport, make contact and we'll see what we can work out.
Other Things to Note
This is a very special chance to stay in a very special house. Contrary to the photos you see, thatched cottages are rare in Ireland.
Please note that I use what's app- useful for free texts.
I would expect guests to be respectful of the fact that I am welcoming them into my home and to treat the house with reasonable care, I have travelled a lot and I know that my best experiences have been with people who have provided hospitality for me in their homes, I feel this is my chance to provide that experience for you.Smoking is not allowed.
If you thought a picture speaks a thousand words your wrong. The pics Aingeal has posted hardly capture the beauty of her home or her big heart. Aingeal is such a warm person that we felt instantly at home the moment we arrived. The host, the place, the food , the ambience everything is top notch and if there was a star rating for a BNB Aingeal 's place has to be a 7 star. Thanks Aingeal for making our stay so memorable. We look forward to hosting you in India whenever you can make it
From the moment we stepped through the little red cottage door we were greeted with a warm welcoming, a stunning and extraordinary home that matched the true beauty of is surroundings along with the wonderful company of Aingeal. A magnificent lady who greeted us with open arms. The best scones I've ever tasted and she made our stay even more enjoyable by sitting with us and wishing to know about us whilst speaking the beautiful irish language to Phil as both are lovers of the language. This is far from a place to stay for a night or few days, Aingeal offers her home, her warming presence and opens her beautiful heart to make your stay one that you will never forget.
We spent three wonderful days at Aingeals home! Aingeal is a great host and she was very very nice! The room was clean and had everything we need. Especially the shower was great! Every morning we got a delicious breakfast with homemade scones ( vegan extra for me :-)), smoothie, coffee, etc. The perfect start for the day! Aingeal gave us good recommendations for sights, places to see and pubs with live music. Aingeal, thank you for everything!
Aingeal was a superb host, this was the first time my girlfriend and I have used airbnb and she certainly showed us how great it can be. We were late arriving and she was very understanding, kept in contact and was ready with tea and pleasant conversation when we got there. Her house is a spectacle of old and new, our room and bathroom were of ample size and very tidy, with all the amenities of a hotel stay, but the comforts of home. She even offered to take us to the pub to save us the trouble of driving! Her homemade scones freshly prepared in the morning were the icing on the cake. She really could not do enough for us! Thank you Aingeal, I hope we meet again.
How do we love Aingeal? Let us count the ways. Although we had been in Ireland three days prior to our stay with Aingeal's, we felt like our vacation really began the moment we arrived at her home. The home itself is remarkable, beautiful and inviting. You must experience it for yourself. However, it was Aingeal herself that made the visit such a treat. She is such a warm, easy going, engaging hostess. She went above and beyond in numerous ways to make our stay with her and in Connemara enjoyable. Do yourself a favor and book at least two nights while you explore the area. You will be delighted!
