About this listing
This is your opportunity to sleep in a beautiful picture postcard thatched cottage. The cottage is 250 years old and your bedroom is in the original cottage under the thatch. There is a large extension out the back which contains a sitting room with a real fire place which burns turf (peat) and a beautiful bathroom with a bath and shower. This bathroom would be for your sole use.
The bedroom is a good size double room with a very comfortable bed.. You would also have the use of a fully equipped kitchen,a dining room with a 200 year old dresser (hutch) and a sitting room, I provide a continental style breakfast with home made breads and scones, fruit, yoghurt and tea and freshly brewed coffee.
Moycullen is a pleasant village, a 20 minute drive from Galway city situated on the shores of lough Corrib. Moycullen is considered to be the gateway to Connemara as it is on the main road to Clifden, the main town in Connemara. It is an ideal base to explore Connemara National Park and the Aran islands and of course Galway city, the cultural capital of Ireland with its vibrant arts scene and colourful narrow streets. There are bus connections to Clifden and Galway city.
.Moycullen itself is a charming small village with a large supermarket and a range of bars and restaurants,There is a wonderful Friday food market. It is rural living at its best while being a short drive from the vibrancy of Galway city.
This is a truly unique opportunity to experience country cottage living and the best of irish hospitality.
You will be guests in my house and will have free access to the kitchen and living room. I would like guests to feel at home and to know that they are welcome to share my space.
Interaction with Guests
As much as they want. I tend to follow the guests lead on this. I am happy to chat and offer advice but equally am happy to give guests space and leave them to their own devices.
Moycullen is a lovely community where people are friendly. It has great amenities- restaurants, pubs, a good supermarket and even a health food shop. It is about 15 min drive to the coast (Spiddal) and a 20 min drive to Galway city. It is situated on the main road to Clifden so you would have a head start in the morning as you head out to tour Connemara.
It is not really feasible to travel by public transport- you would really need a car. If you are depending on public transport, make contact and we'll see what we can work out.
Other Things to Note
This is a very special chance to stay in a very special house. Contrary to the photos you see, thatched cottages are rare in Ireland.
Please note that I use what's app- useful for free texts.
I would expect guests to be respectful of the fact that I am welcoming them into my home and to treat the house with reasonable care, I have travelled a lot and I know that my best experiences have been with people who have provided hospitality for me in their homes, I feel this is my chance to provide that experience for you.Smoking is not allowed.
Aingeel's home is a nice blend of Irish hospitality and traditional /contemporary architecture. A delightful host who stops at nothing to make you feel welcome. Her scones and homemade bread were delicious and she gave us a wonderful breakfast and even packed a picnic lunch for us. Aingeal's lovely Irish humour made our stay a delight.
It's a lovely place with a lovely person. Aingeal really takes care of you. After arriving we got tea and cakes - all homemade! The room is big, you have your own big bathroom. She made us one of the best breakfasts on our trip with a lot of homemade food. She loves cooking and baking and you will get part of it. She even made us a lunch bag for our trip, that tasted just great. We loved the stay! The location is nice, (but) offside.
We had such a beautiful time at Aingeal's thatched cottage! Aingeal made sure we were quite comfortable, and had many thoughtful extras in our room to make our stay pleasant- usb charger, water, bath luxuries etc. Her homemade scones were amazing for our breakfast the next day and she even made us a delicious picnic for us to take with us while we explored Galway. She was so sweet to us and her home was lovely. Thanks again Aingeal!
Thanks again for your kindness & hospitality. We loved the fresh homemade scones and banana bread ;) there where fab!! It was a pleasure staying with you! best wishes.
If you thought a picture speaks a thousand words your wrong. The pics Aingeal has posted hardly capture the beauty of her home or her big heart. Aingeal is such a warm person that we felt instantly at home the moment we arrived. The host, the place, the food , the ambience everything is top notch and if there was a star rating for a BNB Aingeal 's place has to be a 7 star. Thanks Aingeal for making our stay so memorable. We look forward to hosting you in India whenever you can make it
