This is your opportunity to sleep in a beautiful picture postcard thatched cottage. The cottage is 250 years old and your bedroom is in the original cottage under the thatch. There is a large extension out the back which contains a sitting room with a real fire place which burns turf (peat) and a beautiful bathroom with a bath and shower. This bathroom would be for your sole use.
The bedroom is a good size double room with a very comfortable bed.. You would also have the use of a fully equipped kitchen,a dining room with a 200 year old dresser (hutch) and a sitting room, I provide a continental style breakfast with home made breads and scones, fruit, yoghurt and tea and freshly brewed coffee.
Moycullen is a pleasant village, a 20 minute drive from Galway city situated on the shores of lough Corrib. Moycullen is considered to be the gateway to Connemara as it is on the main road to Clifden, the main town in Connemara. It is an ideal base to explore Connemara National Park and the Aran islands and of course Galway city, the cultural capital of Ireland with its vibrant arts scene and colourful narrow streets. There are bus connections to Clifden and Galway city.
.Moycullen itself is a charming small village with a large supermarket and a range of bars and restaurants,There is a wonderful Friday food market. It is rural living at its best while being a short drive from the vibrancy of Galway city.
This is a truly unique opportunity to experience country cottage living and the best of irish hospitality.
Please note that price on calendar for July and August (60E) is for two people sharing. Single occupancy remains at €30.
You will be guests in my house and will have free access to the kitchen and living room. I would like guests to feel at home and to know that they are welcome to share my space.
As much as they want. I tend to follow the guests lead on this. I am happy to chat and offer advice but equally am happy to give guests space and leave them to their own devices.
Moycullen is a lovely community where people are friendly. It has great amenities- restaurants, pubs, a good supermarket and even a health food shop. It is about 15 min drive to the coast (Spiddal) and a 20 min drive to Galway city. It is situated on the main road to Clifden so you would have a head start in the morning as you head out to tour Connemara.
Not really- you would really need a car. If you are depending on public transport, make contact and we'll see what we can work out.
This is a very special chance to stay in a very special house. Contrary to the photos you see, thatched cottages are rare in Ireland.
Aingeal was away when I stayed in her cottage. It was a lovely place to stay. She provided me with tea and scones and other breakfast yummies even though she was away. Aingeal was easy to communicate with and a very good host.
Aingeal has got a nice home. She is a lovely person. I would recomend this place to anybody. She preprared for us a lovely breakfast and also a lunch to take away. We had a wine and a nice talk. I hope I can see her again.
Where should I start? I could write an essay about the wonderful two nights we spent with Aingeal in her beautiful home.
She went out of her way to accommodate us and was an all round wonderful host.
The surroundings of the house are just beautiful and you are a 1 hour drive from the magical landscapes of Connemara! An absolute MUST for a day trip :)
We would recommend this place to everybody!
Thanks again, Aingeal.x
We really enjoyed the stay in this lovely thatch cottage and above this we appreciate the naturalness with which Aingeal provided her home for us.
We felt soooo homelike and comfortable.
Sometimes the pictures look better than reality, - but in this case it was even better than all imaginations.
We spent 1 night in this lovely thatched cottage having all the facilities needed. Aingeal is very considerate and makes you feel at home. Her passion for travelling and knowledge about Connermara were also well appreciated during our stay. Last but not least, the scones are worth it.
Exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.
The Hostess with the Mostest is an understatement. I am so blessed to have met and stayed with Aingeal. Aingeals house in Moycullen is absolutely beautiful, it has been renovated and offers a warm, homely feeling with a lovely big bedroom and big private bathroom. When we approached, a big warm welcome with a glass of wine was in hand, candles lit up the house, the fire was lit and wonderful conversation welcomed us to Connemara. It was perfect.
Asides from the warm welcome and incredible hospitality, Aingeals house is well positioned in Moycullen. It's enough out of the way to be peaceful and tranquil, but only a short drive to Galway. Aingeals provided us with one of the best breakfasts I have ever eaten. Fresh hot scones still steaming, fresh berries, selection of Jams, muesli, yoghurt and a pot of tea and coffee. We were made to feel so comfortable and at home, We were able to have full access to the kitchen and laundry facilities which were both lovely 'extras' to traditional b & bs.
Aingeal provided wonderful tips on places to see in Connermara. We were both sad to leave, and one day wish to return. Aingeal is an angel and I highly recommend staying here if you get the chance.
Great host, great house, great breakfast. Everything was just lovely and perfect. We would highly recommend it!
Our stay with Aingeal was memorable, with an amazing space, lovely breakfasts (the best fresh scones!) and great conversations. She is an amazing host, going above and beyond and we felt truly taken care of! Staying with Aingeal greatly enhanced our visit to Ireland - we would highly recommend you book with her.
Aingeal is a great host! As we arrived late she went to pick us up. Besides, she had a fire ready in the sitting-room and her house was just lovely. Besides, she prepared us some home-made scones that make you want to stay!
I'd definitely recommend this lovely place and specially it's fabulous host.
What can i write about Aingeal? She is such a great host, that all the words are to less to describe here. She made us feel so welcome, that we didn't want to leave. We want to come back and stay there for a week. Her house felt like a villa to us, with a private bathroom with bath! She recommended walks, talked about Irish traditions and we had the best breakfast ever. Don't hesitate a moment to stay with her, you will miss out 'big time' if you don't stay.
