Villa Anna is in a good neighborhood.
I was in Philly for a work training and spent most of my time in my class. While I didn't spend much time in my room, it was comfortable and had everything I needed. The neighborhood is nice, and parking was super easy (street parking, and they have their own lot in the back). Having on demand TV to watch after a long, tiring day was also a nice perk. The hosts were also very accommodating. When I arrived, Rich gave me the tour and told me all the important things I'd need to know for my stay. I didn't actually meet Gloria until I was checking out, and she packed some breakfast to take with me and even offered to drive me to the train. If I'm ever in Philly again, I'll be sure to look them up!
Rich and Gloria were great hosts to us this weekend. Since my husband and I were in Philadelphia for work, we had to arrive very late but they were very understanding and helpful. Rooms were very beautiful. Their dog was really cute and friendly too. I highly recommend them for a nice weekend stay.
Rich and Gloria were great host and I recommend anyone to book with them. They are vey nice people. Gloria will whip up the perfect breakfast to start your day, and Rich can help you plan your itenerary. He is very knowledgeable about Philadelphia, hence he's a tour guide for the city. This was my first experience with airbnb and first time to Philadelphia, I couldn't imagine have staying anywhere else but here, it worked out perfect. The neighborhood was quiet and full of beautiful historical houses. And there is a train station just 3 blocks from there house and that takes just 15 minutes to Center City. Overall great experience again I'd recommend anyone to book with Rich and Gloria.
Rich and Gloria are great genuine people....there BnB both has a
very private quality as well as homey and social. The whole stay was perfect for me.....you are surrounded by beauty and creativity
in an extremely laid back relaxed enviornment... there was good food and coffee in the morning and great hospitality...
the location was perfectly central for my needs...they were also very easy to reach and coordinate timing with...i will stay there as a regular for sure and feel very grateful to have met Gloria Rich and Rocky!!!...5 stars for sure
Good value B&B! Lovely home and very friendly hosts
Rich and Gloria were fantastic hosts! I stayed with them for a month, and the room itself was perfect for me.They were very knowledgeable regarding the city, which was great since I wasn't from the area. I wasn't too keen on the neighborhood (the neighborhood didn't feel safe to me), nor was I a huge fan of the cleanliness of the kitchen. The overall cleanliness of the place was the biggest turn off, especially for the price I was paying.
Thank you Emily for taking the time to write such an incitful review. I can only imagine the "culture shock" a college girl from Grand Forks, North Dakota must have experienced leaving home for the first time and finding herself living in a city as beautiful and diverse as Philadelphia.
All of our neighbors and the entire neighborhood are nothing less then warm and welcoming to everyone. That is what makes this wonderful and historic neighborhood of Germantown such a great place to live in and visit.
Regarding our historic 157 year old twenty room home, it always needs some TLC. The slower B&B winter season allows us the time to take on larger projects and upgrade different areas of our house. We are pleased to report that the new kitchen appliances and the new kitchen counter have been installed and the work is now completed. The 3rd floor bedroom painting and remodeling work was completed last week. The work areas have been cleaned up and we are happy to say that the rooms are looking great!
Emily, we enjoyed hosting you very much and hope your college internship inspires you. We are very pleased that you found us to be "fantastic hosts!" and that your room was "perfect for me" especially since you were paying the monthly rate of $825.00 or $29.46/per night.
Your comments are very important to us because we strive to make everyone's stay with us an enjoyable one. We take personal pride in our B&B business and honestly stand behind our other 44 extreamly positive reviews and believe they speak for themselves.
Thank you again for taking the time to review your month long stay with us. We will use your comments to better our B&B business and improve our future guests experiences.
Rich & Gloria
Villa Anna B&B
Rich and Gloria have the most beautiful house, and the personalities to go with it. On our first day, while we were having breakfast, Rich sat down with us and provided us with maps and an extensive and enjoyable tour of the city. We learnt so much about Philadelphia without even leaving the table. As other guests have mentioned, breakfast was provided, but as my friend and I were prone to waking up late, Gloria would actually go downstairs to heat up our food and make us hot water for tea regardless of what time we got up. Both Rich and Gloria were funny, kind and helpful every single time they saw us, and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed.
In terms of location, walking through the neighbourhood itself was a treat, just looking at the fancy and idyllic houses all around. The only thing to bear in mind is that the SEPTA train that takes you to the city center is about $5 one way, but if you are aware of the fact and include it into your budget, this house is an excellent choice. The house itself looked like it came out of a movie set or a history textbook, and was simply stunning. Thank you to Rich and Gloria for letting us share your home for a little while, we really loved it! : )
We had an amazing stay here! Not only is the home magnificent on a grand scale but Gloroa and Rich are lovely people! You can chat with Rich for hours about everything from rocky balboa to the history of Philly. He is a wealth of knowledge and even does tours of Philly which we imagine would be amazing! Unfortunately we didn't have time to go on a tour but will definitely when we come back which we definitely want to! Can't recommend this home enough! It's one of the nicest places we've stayed in!! (And the breakfast is amazing!)
It was a nice rambling old home, the breakfast was great, and Gloria is very pet-friendly. However, our bed was very squeaky and not all that comfortable. The room is on the 3rd floor and shares a bathroom with other boarders. My partner is 6ft 8 inches tall and the ceilings in the room and bathroom and doorways were a major challenge for him. The location is fine if you have a car.
