Beautifully decorated and consistently described by guests as wonderfully comfortable, an antique gateway opens to reveal a beautiful home surrounded by an expansive terrace. It is the perfect place to spend time enjoying the expansive views in Santa Barbara’s temperate climate.

Note: Please, before you contact us for a reservation: We have a strict policy of not booking guests who have "empty profiles" and about whom we know almost nothing. Guest Access

Guest bedroom and private en-suite bathroom, pool area, family room. The family room, front terrace and pool are shared areas.

Interaction with Guests

We are here and want you to be as welcome and comfortable as possible. We are available to assist and advise you in any way we can. We are Brits but have lived here for 23 years so know the area well and enjoy meeting new people. We will be around during your stay and will prepare continental breakfast for you each morning - always a good time for a chat!
However, please understand we are a B&B, not an hotel. We expect our guests to be out and about during the day as we work from home and often have meetings in the house. If you want to hang out somewhere for extended periods during the day, you would be better off getting a hotel as they are equipped for that.

The Neighborhood

Very close to beaches, shops, Montecito village and downtown. However, none of these are walking distance.

Getting around

Sorry, there is no convenient public transport, so you will definitely need a car.

Other Things to Note

Unlike many others, when we say B&B, we mean B&B! The price includes a full continental breakfast each morning, with Peets French-roast coffee, tea, fresh, home-baked croissants, Greek yoghurt, fresh fruits and granola. Hooray!

DOGS: If you wish to bring a dog, please ask in advance. If approved, a nightly pet fee of $20 will apply.
HOT TUB: The Hot Tub needs to be heated from cold on each use, so we charge a $10 fee to cover gas usage.

  • I had an absolutely fabulous weekend at Richard's house. Inside and out the place is spectacular. All the amenities of a great hotel together with the feel of spending the weekend at a friend's place. Richard was an amazing host who clearly enjoyed making his guests feel welcome and at home, which I plan to take advantage of with every future visit I make to Santa Barbara. Five stars and two thumbs up!!! And throw in a couple of happy faces for good measure.

  • Their home is very comfortable and beautiful. The location is a short drive to downtown. It had a beautiful view and a great room. Richard was out of town, but his son greeted me. He was very accommodating and the breakfast in the morning was delightful. I would recommend this to anyone!

  • Unfortunately Richard was out of town when we came to stay at his place, but his son Xan greeted us like we were one of his friends. From the legitimate breakfast he served us to the fine art and culture of the paintings and drawings on the wall, you can't go wrong staying here. Richard's place is a perfect spot for a little getaway from Santa Barbara as it is very romantic just sitting on the patio observing the many islands across the sea. The bedroom was just right and the bed itself was very warm and comfortable. The bathroom told its own story from the colorful tiles from the floor to the beautiful sink. If you want to have a nice quiet stay and enjoy a house with a story...this is for you.

  • Richard was an outstanding host, and the views from his home is quite lovely. Breakfast on the terrace was the highlight of my stay, and the room was very comfortable. We could've stayed in a run-of-the-mill hotel, but staying here added a personal touch that made the weekend getaway special. Will be back again.
