Our spacious, recently renovated home has two double bedrooms available both with own bathrooms and wifi access. Parking is available. The house is 5 minutes walk to NUIG/UHG and just 15 minutes walk to city centre.
The house was built in the 1950's originally and then extensively renovated and extended in 2011. Old meets new in a spacious yet cosy family home. Parking is available but you won't need your car as all the main Galway attractions are within easy walking distance of the house.
There will be fridge, freezer and cupboard space made available in the kitchen for guests. Lots of Books, DVDs and board games available for you to use during your stay. You can enjoy the garden space too if the sun shines on your visit.
Interaction with Guests
During the week I will be at work during the day but home for a while most evenings to advise guests on activities to do in and around Galway.
The neighbourhood is a great mix of older residents, families and some students during the academic year. Everyone gets along well in this safe, friendly neighbourhood. You can walk to all the main attractions that Galway has to offer. There is also a great selection of places to eat near the house along with a small supermarket, butchers and late night pharmacy. There is a gym in the university grounds with pool, sauna, steam room and squash courts - you can pay to use facilities at designated hours.
It only takes 15 minutes to walk from the house to the centre of town and 25 minutes to walk to Salthill. There are bus stops very nearby for the local city bus networks. The bus and train stations in Eyre Square are a 20 minute walk away or 5 minutes by taxi. There is a taxi rank around the corner from the house. A taxi from town will cost about €8. There is bike rental close to the house too.
Other Things to Note
There is so much to do in Galway that you will find it hard to fit it all in! There are loads of festivals - the arts festival, the oyster festival, the races, comedy festival, film fleadh, visual arts, sailing and more. Entertainment options include the theatre, cinema, live music, dance classes, sporting activities, comedy nights, free talks and lectures and of course the great pubs and clubs the city has to offer. You can walk or rent a bike to explore the cities trails and head out to salthill to kick the wall.
No smoking in the house and no overnight guests please!
Very very very great place, beautiful room with bed very confortable and a delicious breakfast .
Joanna is very sympatic and welcoming but we don't speak very well english so that's a pitty that we couldn't talk more with her .
If you have to stay in Galway don't hesitate to go at her house !
Très bon séjour, tout était très propre et parfait, hôte très gentille, donne des informations, même si c'était un court séjour c'était plaisant!
We had a great stay at Melita - such a lovely house; clean, characterful and comfortable. Our party of three were made really welcome by our host Joanna and it was the perfect place to finish our five-day cycle trip. The bath and Epsom salts were the icing on the cake! Galway is an interesting, pretty town and Joanna provided us with loads of suggestions of places to see, pubs to drink in, tailoring her ideas to suit us. Highly recommended.
Incroyable!!
Joanna has a lovely house near the city centre. We were warmly welcomed and shown around. We left our car at the house and walked into Galway. The rooms for us and our 2 children were lovely and really nicely furnished. Especially the one bathroom is a dream! Beds were very comfortable and we had a walk-in wardrobe. Although Joanna had to work, breakfast was nicely prepared in a wonderful dining room with sight to her lovely garden. Next time we'll definitely come again!
A great place for staying a few day. Joanna's home is really comfortable and Joanna is totally friendly!
This was our favorite place that we stayed while in Ireland! Joanna is so incredibly helpful and kind. The location of the house is unbeatable in Galway- we really enjoyed walking around the city. The house itself is immaculately clean and spacious and so beautiful. Thank you, Joanna, for such a lovely stay!!
