Our spacious, recently renovated home has two double bedrooms available both with own bathrooms and wifi access. Parking is available. The house is 5 minutes walk to NUIG/UHG and just 15 minutes walk to city centre.
The house was built in the 1950's originally and then extensively renovated and extended in 2011. Old meets new in a spacious yet cosy family home. Parking is available but you won't need your car as all the main Galway attractions are within easy walking distance of the house.
There will be fridge, freezer and cupboard space made available in the kitchen for guests. Lots of Books, DVDs and board games available for you to use during your stay. You can enjoy the garden space too if the sun shines on your visit.
Interaction with Guests
During the week I will be at work during the day but home for a while most evenings to advise guests on activities to do in and around Galway.
The neighbourhood is a great mix of older residents, families and some students during the academic year. Everyone gets along well in this safe, friendly neighbourhood. You can walk to all the main attractions that Galway has to offer. There is also a great selection of places to eat near the house along with a small supermarket, butchers and late night pharmacy. There is a gym in the university grounds with pool, sauna, steam room and squash courts - you can pay to use facilities at designated hours.
It only takes 15 minutes to walk from the house to the centre of town and 25 minutes to walk to Salthill. There are bus stops very nearby for the local city bus networks. The bus and train stations in Eyre Square are a 20 minute walk away or 5 minutes by taxi. There is a taxi rank around the corner from the house. A taxi from town will cost about €8. There is bike rental close to the house too.
Other Things to Note
There is so much to do in Galway that you will find it hard to fit it all in! There are loads of festivals - the arts festival, the oyster festival, the races, comedy festival, film fleadh, visual arts, sailing and more. Entertainment options include the theatre, cinema, live music, dance classes, sporting activities, comedy nights, free talks and lectures and of course the great pubs and clubs the city has to offer. You can walk or rent a bike to explore the cities trails and head out to salthill to kick the wall.
No smoking in the house and no overnight guests please!
Hola!
Joanna's house was gorgeous. The house is exactly as the pictures look and even nicer. The house is shared with Joanna and her son (who we did not meet) and the private rooms are very well kept and the house is very neat. Everything about the house is nice and immaculately kept.
It is only a 15 minute stroll to "downtown" Galway at shop street, and a very nice one at that, where you get to see the university, cross the river, and see the church and the markets. There's also a grocery store at the corner about a two minute walk.
We didn't have too much interaction with Joanna, we wish we could have been able to chat with her about Galway and Ireland in general. But, she was accommodating nonetheless.
Overall, an immaculate house that would make a museum look dirty. Yet, cozy. Joanna's place is a great value.
Groot comfortabel huis, 10 minuten lopen van het centrum. Joanna is een prima gastvrouw. Ze weet alles af van Galway en andere praktische zaken voor reis en verblijf. We hebben het erg naar onze zin gehad.
Our stay with Mrs. Joanne was great. The house was very comfortable and super clean. The rooms were just right with very nice bathrooms. The location of the house made it so very easy to make it to the city and to all the places we needed to go. Great find and I will recommend it to anyone. Mrs. Joanne is very friendly and had information available with places to eat, pubs and any other activity you can possibly imagine. We had a great time.
Its even better than on the pictures. The rooms were clean, cosy and just beautiful.
Joanna was extremly helpful, friendly and gave us some good hints what to do in the city.
The places offers everything you need to feel like home.
You can reach the city in 10 minutes walking which was a plus too.
Love to come back some time!
What a wonderful place to stay and experience Galway! Joanna was very welcoming, accommodated our arrival time, and gave us excellent tips on where to eat and have fun while we stayed in Galway. Impeccably clean, bathroom was large and clawfoot bathtub was luxurious. Breakfast with Joanna's homemade preserves was a perfect start to our day. We had two rooms, one large double and one slightly smaller double. Incredible value for the money, and fun!
