About this listing
Our spacious, recently renovated home has two double bedrooms available both with own bathrooms and wifi access. Parking is available. The house is 5 minutes walk to NUIG/UHG and just 15 minutes walk to city centre.
The house was built in the 1950's originally and then extensively renovated and extended in 2011. Old meets new in a spacious yet cosy family home. Parking is available but you won't need your car as all the main Galway attractions are within easy walking distance of the house.
There will be fridge, freezer and cupboard space made available in the kitchen for guests. Lots of Books, DVDs and board games available for you to use during your stay. You can enjoy the garden space too if the sun shines on your visit.
Interaction with Guests
During the week I will be at work during the day but home for a while most evenings to advise guests on activities to do in and around Galway.
The neighbourhood is a great mix of older residents, families and some students during the academic year. Everyone gets along well in this safe, friendly neighbourhood. You can walk to all the main attractions that Galway has to offer. There is also a great selection of places to eat near the house along with a small supermarket, butchers and late night pharmacy. There is a gym in the university grounds with pool, sauna, steam room and squash courts - you can pay to use facilities at designated hours.
It only takes 15 minutes to walk from the house to the centre of town and 25 minutes to walk to Salthill. There are bus stops very nearby for the local city bus networks. The bus and train stations in Eyre Square are a 20 minute walk away or 5 minutes by taxi. There is a taxi rank around the corner from the house. A taxi from town will cost about €8. There is bike rental close to the house too.
Other Things to Note
There is so much to do in Galway that you will find it hard to fit it all in! There are loads of festivals - the arts festival, the oyster festival, the races, comedy festival, film fleadh, visual arts, sailing and more. Entertainment options include the theatre, cinema, live music, dance classes, sporting activities, comedy nights, free talks and lectures and of course the great pubs and clubs the city has to offer. You can walk or rent a bike to explore the cities trails and head out to salthill to kick the wall.
No smoking in the house and no overnight guests please!
We had a pleasant stay at Joanna's house which was quite near downtown (what we liked). The rooms were cosy, clean and the bed confortable. Joanna also told us about good spots to visit (and a nice place to get a sports massage!).
Joanna's place is located in the perfect location. Not more than a 10 minute walk from the city center. The breakfast was more than enough with plenty of options of different jams as well as Nutella! Joanna had a lot of recommendations of different bars and restaurants, she was an extremely knowledgable host, would definitely recommend.
My family and I had a wonderful experience with Joanna. She is very friendly and full of local knowledge about the best pubs and restaurants to visit in the area. Her house had everything we needed and she didn't mind us cooking and washing our clothes. Her house is ideally located, just a ten min walk away from the bustling main streets of Galway. A continental breakfast was provided every morning which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thanks for everything Joanna.
It was great to spend some time at Joanna's house. We felt like home and we had a great breakfast. Facilities are amazing and nice neighbourhood. Joanna also helps with maps and recommends good places.
Our stay at Joanna's home was as good as it gets. Joanna was easy to talk to and shared her wealth of information due to living in Galway all her life. Beautiful home and plenty of space for everyone. I like to park and walk when in a city center area. The home is located in easy walking distance of the entire city center. We just can't say enough praise about our stay at Joanna's home. Would highly recommend. Thanks Joanna.
Nice neighbourhood. Private parking, walking distance to city centre. Joanne is friendly and her house is beautiful. We have two bed rooms for three of us. Very comfortable stay. The bath room as what is shown is the web, is beautiful. Highly recommended if you are around in Galway.
Lovely accommodation in Galway, it was clean and tidy in the rooms, with great style elements. Linen was fresh, towels nice and big, plenty of space in the rooms. Joanna is a very relaxed and friendly host, she supplied us with lots of information on places to see along with supplying a map.
Thanks for the chats in the kitchen and congratulations on the referendum result! All your hard work has paid off, so i'm sure you partied on Saturday night!
