  • Hey people, you wanna make a short stop in Amsterdam and you are looking for a "Lovely room in nice apartment"....your search is over! ;)
Me and my girlfriend visit Amsterdam last weekend and we took Anne-Marie's room for three days and we just can say-gorgeous!
Thank you to Anne-Marie, she is a wonderfull host and was a big help. She gave us a lot of tips what we can visit for our first trip in Amsterdam, where you can have beautiful diner or lunch and asked for our breakfast wishes. What a great airbnb and host experience! 1000 thanks!!! ;) Patrick & Ramona

  • Me and my boyfriend stayed at the home of Anne- Marie for 5 days, and we really enjoyed .
The apartment is located in a nice area , close enough to the center , well connected by tram, bus and metro (even though we 've moved easily on foot).
The room where we slept was well (email hidden)ke the whole house ( essential when you live in a cold city ) , the bed very comfortable , and the shower pleasantly spacious.
From the living room there is a beautiful view that overlooks a small park on .. wonderful to wake up in the morning and see the sun grows up .
Anne- Marie was always available for any problem , and very genitle.
As soon as we arrived was concerned to get something to eat and to drink, and gave us a list of things to do, places to visit and places to eat .
In addition, the Wifi was available , which is crucial for us to look for some information or to make ceck -in online for the return flight.
One night we came home , tired from having walked all day, and we did find a good piece of "Quiche" made by her... very good!
Although with Anne- MArie we have not seen much (we were always outside the home) has always been concerned to ask if everything was ok .
We recommend the apartment of Anne- Marie both for its beauty and comfort for the kindness and hospitality of Anne .
A big hug from Italy :-)

  • Anne-Marie was a super firendly host, the appartment was clean, well-located in the center and very well equipped.
She gave us some recommendation, where to go etc..
I can totally recommend a stay at Anne-Marie's place!

  • It was very good place and Anne Marie is very good host. We felt stay in our friends house. We stayed 4 night at Anne Marie's flat. She helped us about everything. When we arrived her, she gave us information papers and great recommendations for restaurants, shops, cafes... She was also very helpful in making reservations for us.
Anne Marie's flat very close to City Center, as well as very close to bus and tram stops.
She is realy great host, when we leave for go to Brussel, she made sandwhices for us:):)
She is trustful person, she had clean and sweet house, we absolutely recommended her house.

  • Unfortunately, We had a very very bad experience with Anne-Marie who is the worst host we’ve ever met in all our airbnb experiences !!
For my boyfriend 30’s, I planned a surprise for him and offered him a week-end in Amsterdam (from Friday nignt to Sunday night).
Obviously, I was looking for a nice private and romantic place and Anne-Marie house was looking very good.
Unfortunetely, while I was making the reservation, I didn’t see that it was only for a bedroom. So I told Anne Marie that I m sorry but i misunderstood. And she proposed me to let her flat for the two of us for 50€ more that I have to pay her in cash when I arrive. I accepted this deal.
But two hours before our arrival in Amsterdam, Anne-Marie texted me that she won’t be able to leave the flat the 1st night - wich wasn’t the deal at all. Moreover It was too late to give us the possibility to find another place.
After a long discussion with her (wich is something that you want to avoid when you’re on vacation and planned everything more than one month before) she finally found a solution and left her flat.
During the check in, we talked about the check out and she asked about our train departure (7 pm) and told that it was ok for a check out at the end of the afternoon, before our departure on sunday.
But once again she didn’t respect the deal! The Sunday morning (10 am), we sent her a text to propose a check out at 6 pm. Despite what she claims, we didn’t have any answer and while we were visiting the centrum of the city, she called us to tell that we had to go back immediately at her house to make the check out because a friend of her was waiting for us. We said that it was complicated for us to stop our visit but she threatened us to keep our luggage in her house and to change the lock!!!!
So, my boyfriend and I stopped our visit and came back quickly to the apartment making the check out. As a conclusion, we lost 2 hours (discussion + transport) and we had to spend the rest of the visit of the city with our luggage…
At the end, we received a very unpleasant mail from Anne Marie reinventing the all story and forgetting essential elements.
For a conclusion, this is the worst tourist experience we ever had with my boyfriend, who is also an host on airbnb ? We were completely desapointed..
I had a lot of airbnb experiences wich were all nice! But I don’t recomnand this one at all!

    Response from Anne-Marie:

Unfortunately this was a very very bad experience for me!

Sophie made a wrong booking. That can happen. She could also cancel which she didn't. I did everything in my power trying to arrange things good. The worst part of the situation was that my friend Myrthe ( a well respected host on Airbnb) had to wait for more than 1 hour in the apartment on sunday, because Sophie did not show up at all (while i confirmed the check out time on saturday). And when they finally arrived in the apartment on sunday Sophie was very unpolite to Myrthe and was screaming and shouting as well. I think that is really inappropriate behavior. Myrthe also never experienced guests like this.

When I received the booking i thought: ok, let's do her a favor. She paid me 50 euro's extra for the expenses (traveling costs to my parents). Last minute I had to work on saturday in Amsterdam so I arranged to stay at a friend in Adam. She had fever so canceled just before Sophies arrival. Bad luck. I called Sophie when she was in the train and she was already freaking out then so last minute I was able to arrange another sleeping place in Adam (my parents live far away) else to keep my promise. Saturday after work i left to my parents.

    Before there arrival i arranged:
    * to pick them up from the bus station
    * a reservation in a nice restaurant
    * 2 beers waiting for you on the table in the apartment
    * offered them to borrow my bike to go to the restaurant
    * gave them clear instructions and a list with all kind of nice places to visit

I was at my parents so i was not in Amsterdam. My apartment had to be locked and because I don't have a private mailbox I arranged a friend for the checkout. Sophie responded on my textmessage if this could be 6pm. I told her that was not possible and gave clear instructions where she could easily drop the luggage at the central station (+ how to get there). After 2 o'clock she could have left from the central station again into the city and pick up the luggage in the beginning of the evening from the lockers in the central station again and take he train. A lot of guests are doing this. But what did happened was that i replied the check out time was 1.30 and they where not there. All my textmessages have delivery rapports and it showed the message was delivered. But they did not reply anymore and just followed your own plan. When i called they said on the phone to check out at six? If you set a check out time you have to keep that. Not only in a hotel it goes like this, but alsof or Airbnb and for me counts an appointment is an appointment.

I never experienced such respect less behavior before. If you want something, just communicate well. But in this case: not showing up while you know somebody is waiting for you?

I am very flexible and have only had good feedback from other guests and regret the effort I did for Sophie. It was just not worth it.

  • Anne-Marie s place was well situated and very comfortable. She has the greatest personality and was so fun to be around. She was helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • We had spent some time looking for the apartment due to we didn't have internet service and a local phone to contact the host and we got off the bus at a wrong stop (should have got off a stop earlier). It would be better to have some directions of how to go to the place from the bus stop.
But Anne-Marie is a very welcoming host. She helped me to carry my luggage to her 2nd floor flat. THANKS A LOT! She treated us like her friends and she cooked us dinner and bought me birthday muffins. Had some really good time at her place. Thank you!

  • the flat is in the frederik hendrikplantsoen district, which is a very beautiful district a little bit away from all the hustle and bustle going in the main squares targeted by tourists, and still it is like 6 minutes walking from the Anne Frank museum.
you will find a tram station just 2 minutes walking from the house. and u can walk for 4 minutes along the canal to reach the Marnixstraat where u can find many shops, amazing bakery stores, liquor store, supermarket a big one that u can get whatever you want from.
U wake up in the bed to find a beautiful scenery of beautiful gardens around u. the room is exactly like displayed in the pictures. the flat has an amazing heating system and u will feel its bless when u come back from the cold outside. The apartment is very cosy, just makes u feel like home. The bathroom is very beautiful and well equipped. someone like me who travels with alot of clothes, it was amazing finding a big number of hangers to hang on my wardrobe.
If it is ur first time in Amsterdam, never get a negative idea about the stairs in Anne's house, all the stairs in Amsterdam houses are steep and might be dangerous for people not used to it. so it is the same in all Amsterdam.
what is really different in this apartment, is the host , Anne- Marie, get ready to meet a very remarkable lady with a wide beautiful smile welcoming you. Anne is an excellent host, she is so considerate, kind and nice to hang around. I appreciated alot the time Anne dedicated to me inspite of all her very very busy schedule. U wake up in the morning finding Anne getting ready to go to work and asking you if u need coffee or some of her beautiful herbal tea and share some breakfast or chunk of her delicious chocolates. What makes Anne really different from others that she really knows the essence of this airbnb experience which is socializing with people and getting to know other cultures, exchanging stories between the Holland culture and the culture where you come from, so it is not just a business issue for Anne.
So yes, that was my first experience through Airbnb and I admit it was the best as a start to keep going with airbnb thing :)
Amsterdam is beautiful city and difenetly you will enjoy it more and more in Anne's house with her beautiful charming welcoming smile.
    thank you Anne.

  • Anne-Marie is the best! She was very accommodating as I arrived on a day when my flight and connections made me three hours late, even so she was there to meet me with a fresh cappuccino and muffin. She knows and loves Amsterdam which was extremely helpful - she had a list of great places to eat, all kinds of wonderful options. Her location is great too, an easy ride from the CS train on the tram or buses. Her place is on the semi-circle next to a school which you never heard. walking distance to several great restaurants. Anne-Marie herself is an absolute pleasure, so beautiful, charming, and helpful I truly enjoyed meeting her. She makes airbnb work so much better than an impersonal hotel, she is awesome. She even offered to make me dinner reservations before I arrived as it was my birthday. I can't imagine how she could be more wonderful.
