Abbott Town Farmlet and Rooms

House - Private room · Abbott Street, Greenfield, MA 01301, United States

Restful stays in a turn-of-the-century home with farmlet six blocks from the center of town. Half-way between Brattleboro and Northampton and east of the Berkshires, we are well situated for leaf-peeping, skiing, biking, hiking and canoeing/kayaking.

The Space

****We have blocked the schedule for reservations at this time so that we may resolve some issues with our homeowner's insurance. Thank you for your understanding.****

The main guest room has a queen bed, sitting area, desk and room for a small pallet on the floor to accommodate a young traveler. It can alternately be outfitted with a cradle for the under six-month crowd or a pack-n-play is available for the in-betweens.

If your party includes more than one child requiring separate sleep accommodations, please check to see if our second listing, Abbott Town Farmlet and Rooms II is available for reservation.
It is possible to accommodate a family with older or more numerous children by reserving both rooms. We have even removed the couch, chair and desk from the main guest room in order that all family members could sleep in one room and have exclusive access to the second room for relaxing and gathering. In such cases, the rooms are charged as if they were each hosting overnight guests. For example, a family of four could all bed down in one room and recreate in the other, but both rooms would be charged as if there were two guests in them...similarly a family of five would be charged for one room with two guests and one room with three.

Guest Access

All guest access rooms are on the second floor. There is a main guest room, a library/media room which can also be made up for guests and a bathroom which is shared with our family.

Interaction with Guests

I am happy to answer questions about things to do and see in the "Happy Valley."

We also have two cats who enjoy attention but are not allowed in guest rooms and a Goldendoodle dog who spends all of her time on the first floor. She may announce your arrival with a friendly but deep bark!

The Neighborhood

If you've ever seen the movie "Back to the Future," the back-in-time town that Michael J. Fox visits is very much like our town.

Most of the town's business is handled within four blocks and includes an independent department store, the library, the Y, several independent coffee shops, several independent bookstores for new and used books, an independent gaming store, independent music stores, eclectic, artsy shops, a food cooperative, and interesting restaurants with a variety of cuisines.

All of this is within a six block walk of our home.

On the other hand, in just a short bike ride, within the "city" limits, we have working farms and pastoral scenery.

Getting around

Greenfield is slated to be an Amtrak stop this year! We will be on the "Vermonter" line with service to Montreal and south to D.C., with other connections possible through Amtrak hubs. And yes, the train station is just about six blocks from us!

This same transportation center is served by Peter Pan buses and our local regional transportation FRTA, which runs a regular but not terribly frequent schedule in the county.

  • This was my second time staying with Kimberly and her family. This time, I brought the whole family: my partner, and all three of our kids. If you wonder whether this is really a kid-friendly place, I can tell you that it is. We felt very welcome, and the two available bedrooms were plenty of space for us. Kimberly has made improvements since our last visit, including informational signs and a self-serve beverage cart outside the bedrooms, with the makings for coffee and tea as well as fresh filtered water. We were extremely comfortable and had a great time.

  • We loved our stay with Kimberly. It is an excellent place to stay especially if you are traveling as a family. The room was clean and comfortable and she was very accommodating. The town was lovely with a great restaurant and food co-op. We hope to visit back next time when we are in the area for work.

  • Kimberly has a lovely home within walking distance to Greenfield. The location was perfect for my needs, close to work, and close to town. The room was comfortable and clean. Kimberly took care in making sure you knew what to do and not to! I would recommend her place to anyone.
