Shawnee Forest Hideaway sits on 5 wooded acres in Pope County, Illinois, overlooking a quiet forest hollow with a seasonal creek. The cabin is set apart from neighboring properties and surrounded by mature trees, offering privacy and a peaceful, natural setting.

The Cabin:
The cabin is a 400+ square foot, one-room space designed for simplicity and comfort. It’s well-suited for couples and outdoor enthusiasts looking for a clean, quiet place to cook meals, rest, and recharge after a day in the woods. Sleep the night away in a comfy queen size bed. A new sofa sleeper offers extra space.

Outdoor Space:
Soak the day away in our 6-person hot tub, perfect after a long day of hiking and exploring all the Shawnee Forest has to offer. Guests can enjoy the surrounding forest, creek views, and natural sounds of the woods. With no close neighbors, the property offers a true sense of seclusion.

Additional Features:
The property includes a graveled RV pad with water and electric hookups, available for guests who need additional space or are traveling with an RV. WiFi is provided at the cabin.

Good to Know:
This is a rural, wooded property. Expect uneven ground, wildlife, insects, and limited cell service -part of the experience for those seeking a true forest retreat.

Guest access
Guests have full, private access to the cabin and the surrounding immediate yard area. The wooded 5-acres around the cabin is available for quiet enjoyment, including walking and wildlife viewing.

The property also includes a graveled RV pad with water and electric hookups, which is available for guest use at an additional charge if reserved or included in your stay.

Please note that other buildings, equipment, or areas on the property not related to the cabin are not available to guests. This is a rural property, and some areas may be uneven or undeveloped. The cabin is set apart for guest privacy, but the owners may occasionally be on other portions of the property.

Parking is available on-site near the cabin and RV pad. Standard vehicles can access the property, though gravel roads and drives are part of the rural setting. The cabin is accessed by a short stretch of gravel road less than 100-yards off the pavement.

Hunting is not permitted on the property unless explicitly arranged in advance.

Outdoor fires are permitted only in designated areas and weather permitting.

Part of the charm of our secluded forest getaway is its natural hillside setting. The cabin is accessed by outdoor steps from the gravel parking area, and the hot tub sits in a private wooded area connected by a rustic trail.
