Hello & Welcome!
Thanks for checking out my comfy-cozy apartment here in Santa Monica. Explore all that the greater Los Angeles area has to offer while based at my apartment. You'll be comfortable, sleep well, & have a terrific experience here.

The Space

Come and go as you please with your own set of keys... I expect that you'll make yourself at home, just as you would at your own home or perhaps a really close friend's place. Once booked, check out the "house manual" for wifi information and other important notes.

Guest Bedroom and Bathroom:

The guest bedroom has a queen size bed, a good size closet, a dresser and a night stand, light-block shades & wood shutters.

The guest bathroom, immediately adjacent to the guest bedroom, is all yours during your stay (I use another bathroom accessible through my bedroom). Towels and linens for the bed are provided and shower amenities including soap, shampoo, etc. are provided on request.

Kitchen:

The kitchen is available for your full use. Breakfast items such as cereal, oatmeal, milk, juice, bread, eggs, and fruit are typically available. Please let me know in advance what you prefer and I'll make sure to have them here for you.

Feel free to cook as much or as little as you like. I myself don't cook often but if our schedules coincide and I'm preparing a meal I'll be happy to share. Feel free to stock the fridge with any preferred foods you'll want to use during your stay.

Living Room / Dining Area:

The living room has two very comfy couches and a TV with basic cable channels. This space is great for hanging out in to plan adventures, work, or just curling up and relaxing.

For more information on what to do while visiting Santa Monica visit Wikipedia and search for "Santa Monica attractions and cultural resources". Im also available to provide recommendations or share my experience of the local area. Don't miss out on Venice Beach and the Venice canals... neat places to visit.

Kiddos:

Up to two youngsters may join two adults. Their sleeping arrangements can be made up on the floor next to the bed with couch cushions, pillows, sheets, and blanket... it is a workable setup.

Laundry:

Coin laundry is available in the building and at a nearby laundromat a few blocks away on Montana Ave. You may use laundry detergent and fabric softener I have in the hall closet. An iron an ironing board are available for use as well. Personally, i use Naki Laundry which offers same day laundry pick up and delivery service. Yup, they pick up and deliver laundry at my apartment door.

Los dos Gatos:

Sunny and Flash are extremely people friendly kitties and will want to greet and meet you. They are generally not allowed in the bedroom unless you say so. They don't have access to the bedroom when it isn't being used.

Guest Access

Mi casa es su casa... Enjoy it like you would your own. Guests have access to the Kitchen, Guest Bedroom, Guest Bathroom, Dining Area, and TV/Living Room.

Interaction with Guests

I interact with guest in varying degrees: Guests and I have had deep conversations, gone out clubbing, cooked dinner with and for each other, said hello in passing, or missed each other the entire time except for the initial check-in. I take it as it comes, to the degree my guests want to engage or how our schedules interact. It's the guest's vacation ultimately and they make their stay with me what they want. My job is to make sure guests feel welcome, are comfortable, and have the best experience at my apartment as possible.

The Neighborhood

My apartment building is part of a quaint residential enclave within short walking distance to restaurants and shops on Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica Blvd, and Montana Ave. Also within an easy walk are The Third Street Promenade in Downtown Santa Monica and Palisades Park overlooking Santa Monica State Beach & Boardwalk.

I love my neighborhood because it is quiet. It's far enough away from the thick of downtown Santa Monica's tourist locations but close enough to comfortable walk there and to the beach! I also like the neighborhood because it has everything I need within 3-4 blocks, including grocery store, regional public transportation, coffee shops, pharmacies, dry cleaners, and more.

Getting around

Santa Monica's Big Blue Bus and LA's Metro Rapid bus service are super convenient. They are available for travel to Downtown Santa Monica, Venice, LAX Airport, Hollywood, Downtown LA, and generally any point in between. Big Blue bus is only $1 and the LA Metro is $2. In 2015, Santa Monica will open a light rail line (tram/trolley) connecting Santa Monica to USC and Downtown LA.

Various freeways make it convenient to get from my place to other nearby cities including Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Long Beach, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Pasadena, Huntington Beach, Camarillo, Van Nuys, Burbank, Glendale, and Newport Beach to name a few.

Other Things to Note

Parking:

Parking is on-street and typically available within one or two short blocks. If parking late at night, it might be necessary to park 2-3 short blocks away. A guest parking permit is needed for street parking which I have available for you to use. I do ask for a $25 cash deposit while the parking permit is in your possession. Street sweeping restrictions are in effect on Tuesday and Wednesday late mornings; please take note when you park.

Airbnb Community:

Please ensure that your Airbnb profile has verified contact information, references from at least 3 friends and/or reviews from other hosts, and a robust profile that gives me a sense of who you are. These safeguards make Airbnb the terrific service that it is which has allowed me to meet REALLY amazing people since January 2012. If you don't have these items, prepare for quite an in-depth interview by me. :-)

  • My one week stay in Jimmy's place was just perfect. Living room and the bed room was bigger than the picture. The bed is so comfortable. I love his two kitties, Sunny & Flash are the nicest cats I've ever seen.
He welcomed me at the airport at late night. and got the fruits and water for my breakfast. I adore his hospitality. I will definitely come back here for my next visit. Thank you so much !

  • This is our second time to book with Jimmy. Just as with the first place, we loved staying at his place. The space we used were super clean with all the essentials provided for us. We needed a place to stay in LA, and I did not even search for other airbnb places and went straight to book Jimmy's place, because we knew we would enjoy the stay. We walked to Venice beach, all the shops (especially on The Promenade Street), and to restaurants. We also missed Jimmy's cats from our first stay, so we were looking forward to seeing them. They were just as welcoming as the first time! We ended up curling up on the sofa with them to watch TV. I highly recommend Jimmy's places, wherever he goes.

  • Jimmy is a wunderfull and verry friendly guy and a perfect host. His appartment was verry nice really perfect location (near to the city and beach)! Jimmy gave us allways good recommendations and we really could ask him everything! And he has too really sweet cats! So we would really recommend this place and we definitely would come back!!

  • Jimmy and his cats are absolutely wonderful hosts! Super friendly and welcoming... and I'm not even a cat or a people person :-)

The bed is very comfortable and he even provided a box fan for weird people like me who like the ambient noise.

The shower had plenty of hot water and a removable head, but is a little low. (Which I'm guessing is why there's a removable head)

The apartment was well furnished and bright and was very quiet at night. The room itself has extra shudders and blinds, so it stayed pretty dark in the sunny and bright mornings (win in my book).

The neighborhood is fairly typical/nice Santa MonIca... Easy access to most things, pretty safe, scarce parking at times.

My wife and I really felt at home here and we enjoyed Jimmy's company and the space.

  • Jimmy was an awesome host. He always made us feel at home and readily answered any questions we had. The room was very comfortable, clean and the localization is great. He was very thoughtful with the breakfast and his cats are amazing.

  • Jimmy is the kind of one everybody would love to have as a friend. He is thoughtful, attentive, and very friendly (so are his 2 cats by the way). He gave us a lot of smart advices and we even went out together for dinner. We felt at home and we had a very pleasant stay. I wish I could get back another time and I definitely recommend Jimmy.

  • This was the first time me or my friend had used AirBnB and it was a great first experience. Jimmy is a really nice guy and his apartment is lovely. It is in the perfect location in Santa Monica, we walked to 3rd St prom every night and checked out some cool bars. Harvell's is great for live music every night. There are bars/restaurants and the beach is all in walking distance. If you are a cat person you will love staying with Jimmy as he has 2 very friendly cats, very cute!

I would 100% recommend staying with Jimmy and if I am back again I will definitely book with him again!

About
I'll try nearly anything once; I am a 34 y/o adventurous spirit. I've gone skydiving, bungee jumping, bridge walking, scuba diving, and rock climbing. I enjoy road cycling and kayaking and have done one triathlon (and three centuries). I bring warmth to those around me and extend myself when others need a hand. I believe attracting positive things to my life is a result of sharing my positive energy with others. I've been dedicated to my career in public transit since the age of 5. Yes, 5. My early affinity for public transit, as my mom says, developed when I was tall enough to see buses passing by from the front window of our house. The commuter rail trains passing 250 yards away weren't much help in deterring me away from a career in transit either. Since eligible to work at the age of 16, I've held some type of job in public transit that I fostered into a career with the help of a BS in Transportation Management. My more recent venture is a return to school for a masters in Transportation Management. Between work, school, volunteering and trying to maintain some semblance of a social life, I have a rich schedule that keeps me on my toes. I really adore animals. I have two sibling kitties that were born and rescued from Tijuana, MX that I've had since they were 2 months old. Don't worry, los dos gatos are the most friendly kitties you'll ever meet. Sunny & Flash love meeting people and enjoy making guests feel at home. I hope you don't mind an occasional cat in your lap when you sit on the couch. I've done a small bit of traveling in my life. At an early age, family vacations took me to Jamaica and Cancun and in more recent years personal, business and sports brought me to Montreal, Toronto, London, Tijuana, and Sydney. Domestically, I've been to all of New England and the DC, PA, NY area as well as Chicago, Orlando, Denver, Dallas, Fort Worth, St. Louis, Seattle, San Diego, LA, and Cleveland to spout off a few. :-) I look forward to meeting many folks through this service, perhaps one of those people will be you. Cheers & safe travels, ~Jimmy
