A gorgeous 3000 sq. ft. log home located on Portage Lake enjoyable in all seasons. Your morning coffee can be savored on one of our three outdoor covered porches or by the warmth of a fire in the cabin. Enjoy swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, boating, fishing, campfires, ice fishing, snowshoeing, access to snowmobile trails (1/2 mile), down hill & cross country skiing, biking & hiking trails. The space
Calm Waters Cabin is a 3 bedroom log cabin with a loft on the water in the Keweenaw Peninsula. The cabin is only 5 minutes from the nearest restaurant and store, 15 minutes from Houghton and Michigan Tech University, and only 15 minutes from Houghton County Airport.

Our cabin has an open floor living area with a beautiful view of Portage Canal and plenty of wildlife to watch. The living space has log interior with comfortable furnishing, a gas fireplace, 3 flat screen TV's supported by Dish network, and a DVD player with a large selection. We also have wifi in the home with options for quiet places to work. The complete kitchen has full size appliances, a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, Keurig machine, waffle makes and a dishwasher.

There are three bedrooms. The bedroom on the main floor has a king size bed with a beautiful lake view, large closet, TV, and also a desk for your convenience. The two lower level bedrooms have queen beds, large egress windows with darkening shades, and one has a TV with dish the other a TV/DVD player. There is a ladder leading up to the loft which holds two twin beds. All of our beds are Restonic and dressed with nice bedding for your comfort. The Calm Waters easily sleeps 8 as long as two are capable of climbing the ladder at their own risk.

Our two bathroom both have showers, towels, and soaps. The lower bathroom has a sauna and jacuzzi tub to relax in at the end of a busy day of fun.

The second basement is an open recreation room. This can be used for a quiet place to relax/work or a gathering place for entertainment. Currently it has a nice sitting area, a table for games/work, and a dart board for entertainment. We do supply some games, puzzles, and books for your enjoyment.

Guest access
Calm Waters Cabin rental includes the entire home and property. You can give fishing a try with our 12' aluminum boat or our paddle boat stored on the bank of the waters edge. Please use our life preservers when operating water craft which are provided and stored in the bunk house by the water. Wave runners and boats are available for rent near by if you are interested.

Our cabin is only a half mile from snowmobile/ATV trails. These trails lead through the Keweenaw and connect to the Bill Nichols trail south to Ontonagon area. If the ice is frozen and safe you can shoot across to the Dreamland. There are places near by to rent snowmobiles or ATVs.

Other things to note
The Calm Waters Cabin is in a great location to enjoy all of the attractions the Keweenaw has to offer! This area is unbelievable and filled with endless options for those who love the outdoors.

Take time to visit the Quincy Mine and the Keweenaw Historic National Park, shop in downtown, and eat at delicious UP restaurants. MTU is also only 11 miles away. Don't forget your camera to capture all the beautiful views!

My work: Homemaker w/ 10 kids
My husband and I have been married since 1998. He served in the army our first 8 years of marriage. We have 10 children and many grandchildren. Our large family cherishes the time we spend together. We find nothing more invigorating than enjoying the outdoors. We also love sports, both watching and playing. We are big MTU fans, two of my daughters & I played basketball there. Our faith is first and foremost in our lives.
