There are not enough supulatives to describe how good this place is. The house is fantastic, the hosts are perfect and the position is ideal
Liz made us feel completely at home. We were unsure where to go when we reached Haltwhistle, so she came to fetch us. My husband has Parkinson's disease and she was very considerate throughout our stay, making things easier for him and helping us in many ways. Liz went above and beyond just 'bed and breakfast', with a pot of tea on our arrival, and when we brought our takeaway dinner home, the table was all set and ready for us. Our room was small but attractive, with a comfortable bed and good shower in the ensuite. Breakfast was particularly enjoyable with a fresh egg each laid by resident hens 'Mona' and 'Lisa'! We were spoiled for choice of cereals, delicious berries, yoghurt, or hot porridge with brown sugar and cream. We wanted to see Hadrian's wall and Liz drew us a map of how to get to the best places of interest from her house which was a great help. She knew where we could take my husband's wheelchair and we thoroughly enjoyed the aspects of the museums that she had recommended. All in all, we had very good taste of Northumberland hospitality, and we would definitely recommend staying at Townfoot House.
Liz welcomed us heartily into her home, she is a wonderful host. The house is beautiful, clean & very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Liz & Roger & have no reservations in recommending them.
As first time AirBnBers we were overwhelmed by the welcome and hospitality shown by Liz and her husband Roger (and the dogs). There was not one thing more that could have been done to make our stay more enjoyable. Thank you so much Liz and Roger.
My husband and I had a lovely stay for one night. Liz made us feel very welcome, as did her dogs and cat! Comfortable bed, delicious breakfast, with all the usual items of juice, yoghurt, fruit, cereal, toast, croissants, etc. Cooked breakfast was extra, but definitely worth it - one of the best we've ever had. Nothing was too much trouble, and Liz was very knowledgeable about local eateries. We decided on The Samson in Gilsland, where we had a very good evening meal.
Would definitely stay again if in the area.
Amazing house and really lovely hosts. They were very welcoming and we felt really comfortable staying with them. Also provided us with fab ideas of what to do in the area over a much-needed cup of tea. Would definitely recommend a stay, especially if you are going to see Hadrian's Wall, our little girl was ecstatic about the very friendly dogs too.
Liz and roger were both really welcoming. The house was lovely, bed comfortable and plenty of choice for breakfasts- including freshly laid egg. Very relaxing and liz and roger couldn't do enough for us, including providing information about where to go locally. the house is easy to access and just on the path for the walk up to hadrians wall. Would recommend.
