Our hostess Liz welcomed my wife and me warmly and invited into her tastefully furnished and modernized classic stone home, perfectly configured for her Air B&B business. When her husband, and our host, came home for the day he greeted us just as enthusiastically as we all sat in their guest reception room with a wood fire burning on the cool early autumn day.
Their greeting was only the first part of our very comfortable and relaxing three day stay. Liz's Continental breakfasts were far more than what one thinks as such a morning offering. We had all the usuals, plus special items to include porridge with a "wee dram" for extra zip, and all form of breads, muffins, fruits, and beverages. On request Liz would make a "Full English" for any who wanted, but with all of her more than standard items already on the table my wife and I were fully satisfied without the egg and bacon additions.
And if that is not enough for hosts to provide they gave us many good suggestions to enjoy our travel experience, from where best to see Hadrian's wall, to the special tea rooms nearby where we could stop for an afternoon's break. All in all there was really nothing left to desire from our fully professional and friendly hosts.
And yes, lest I forget, the room was cozy and the bed comfortable for a good night's sleep. The home location was perfect on the edge of town, close to all amenities of Haltwhistle, yet quiet and secluded for a restoring rest.
Finally, one should note that Liz and Roger are the animal kingdom's best friends. They keep ducks, chickens (for great fresh eggs,) dogs, and a cat. Liz even nursed a rejected duckling, Frankie, from his 23 gram egg-cracking weight to a fully developed juvenile. He even now has two wives in waiting, Mona and Lisa, whenever he gets to feeling mature. What a duck's life, to envy!
This was our very first AirBnB booking and it went very well. Liz, and Rodger, run a fantastic B&B. The breakfast layout really was 5 star, and came with wonderful conversation. We would return anytime.
Liz and Roger made us most welcome. The room was lovely and beautifully decorated. The breakfast was really nice and plentiful. We had use of a wood burner fired lounge and were offered tea and cake on arrival. I would thoroughly recommend this place and the people, who were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Only a five minute drive from Hadrians wall and a perfect half way stop for our trip Scotland.
Beautiful room! Very very clean, homely and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing, lots to choose from, fresh and very nicely presented. Warm and friendly hosts who made us feel very welcome. Would love to stay again!
The house is well located for walks to the Hadrian's Wall.
Liz was an enthusiastic host, always keen on making our stay perfect. We really enjoyed being spoiled by her, now we have an idea how tasty kippers can be. It was always nice talking to Liz and Roger, they really make you feel a part of their home.
Perfect 2 day break, with a very welcoming, helpful and generous host. Highly recommended, great location for hadrians wall, and amazing breakfasts! Thanks Liz and Roger
