This was the perfect place to spend our time, incredibly well organised, brilliant information, lovely location and a gorgeous, gorgeous wee casita. I would heartily recommend this as a place to stay and Mary Lynne was so organised and responsive. We particularly appreciated the well equipped kitchen for cooking and the fact that the casita design was cool, well ventilated and very comfortable.
We had a great time stay in this adorable casita. I only wish we were there longer! The art work and aouthwest furnishings throughout really made it feel culturally authentic and very home-y. The kitchen is well equipped for staying in and enjoying meals.
My friend and I loved our stay at Mary Lynne's casita. The place is small yet charming and very homey. It has virtually everything you might need during your stay (washer/dryer, dishwasher, TV, CD player plus some old 60s/70s CDs, extra pillows, landline phone), plus the kitchen is well equipped with high quality items (pots/pans, cooking utensils, knives--much better knives than I have at home). The neighborhood is old and historic with a variety of good restaurants all within easy walking distance. Our favorite was Casa Vincente with yummy tapas plus other Spanish dishes and there's also a coffee shop/café nearby that's really jammed and hopping on Sunday morning (right next to an Ethiopian restaurant that was quite tasty). In addition, there are some interesting places within easy walking to visit and learn about the community, like a small Jewish museum (Tucson's first synagogue & tiny Holocaust museum) with exhibits and the small Pilita Museum where you can learn about the history of Barrio Viejo neighborhood. Although the Barrio where the casita is located is old and looks run down by conventional standards, we found it safe and friendly plus it's so convenient for exploring the broader downtown area. (Another restaurant recommendation is Caruso's for Italian food.) We had a bit of a problem initially getting on to the Casita's wifi, but both Mary Lynne and a friend of hers responded promptly and the problem was quickly solved (tho the speed of the connection was slower than we were used to). We also loved the little patio in the back of the casita that has ample seating under an umbrellaed table, lounge chairs, plants, etc. It was heavenly hanging out there in the morning while we took in some warmth and sun as we drank our coffee, ate breakfast, and read. All in all, we loved Mary Lynne's place and would stay there again.
I never did have a chance to meet Mary Lynne, but the house was exactly as described and was in the perfect neighborhood, walking distance from downtown. We really enjoyed being in the house and felt warm and cozy inside even though it was an unusually cold weekend outside. Since I live part-time in Santa Fe, I have to say Mary Lynne's wonderful tile, tin and artwork made me feel right at home.
Very comfortable and in a great location. The house is decorated beautifully and has a really cute back yard. I would highly recommend this house to anyone planning a trip to Tucson.
