The Neighborhood

The Casita is in Barrio Viejo, an historic neighborhood of mud adobe homes. It sits in what was once the Elysian Grove - a lake and garden area once fed by springs. Sadly the springs and lake dried up many years ago. The neighborhood is very walkable. There are multiple shrines, memorials and small parks throughout the neighborhood. Several restaurants are nearby: El Minuto (Mexican), Cushing Street Bar and Restaurant (American), Casa Vicente (Spanish), Café Desta (Ethiopian), Five Points Café and Market (American). About 1/2 mile North and East on the other side of the Convention Center is Tucson's true downtown of museums, City and County buildings, restaurants and entertainment.

Getting Around

The Bungalow is convenient to I-10 for quick day trips. It is also close to the train station and Greyhound bus terminal.
The neighborhood is very walkable and about half a mile from the hustle and bustle of true downtown. The city buses stop at the corner. The new street car system has a stop about 4 blocks away.
Parking is on the street in front of the house and available. There is no off street parking.

Other Things to Note

This is an older rustic home and yard. The floor and patio are uneven and include a variety of levels. Please take care when walking. The home is on the bus route - so buses can be heard through our vintage windows. Also, it is convenient to I-10 so some freeway noise is notable from the back yard.
