Great location for this apartment! Quite close to markets and transportation. Roma Trastevere station is only a five minute walk, and it's easy to catch a tram up to other sights. The apartment was clean and quiet as others have noted. There are only stairs to access the flat, so if you have heavy luggage, beware! A minor issue we had was that the hot water system in the apartment made it difficult to balance shower temperature with flow, but this is true of other buildings in this area as well, and not indicative of this place specifically.
As for Sally and Giuliani, they were helpful, thoughtful and quite accommodating. The apartment was left with some basic food amenities for us - bread, butter, jam, coffee, salt, juice and the like. This made it easy to get through the first morning after we arrived, until we had a chance to make a shopping trip to the supermarket.
In short, don't hesitate to stay here. The gracious hosts will make sure your stay is a good one!
I've rented the Sally's flat for my family, parents and sister. They travelled through Europe by car and made a stop in Rome to enjoy the city sightseeing. They were more than satisfied with the accomodation and admitted the space of the flat, its good comunication to the city centre by municipal transport and the parking place right under the balcony of the apartment. Check-in/out was as it should be and the staying completely satisfied the expectations of my family. So, when I'll plan my visit to Rome, Sally's flat will be the first one in my list.
If you're the sort of traveler who enjoys immersing yourself into the full cultural experience of the country you are visiting, then Sally's is the place for you . Throw open the abundant windows and doors and breathe in the 24 hour energy of Trastevere, an awesome ,charming neighborhood a stones throw from Rome's major attractions and it's attendant chaos . . Men , women, children , dogs , cats, and the balmy, sensuous Mediterranean air is all there in front of your eyes and ears. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms, a more than adequate kitchen and bathroom and endless daylight ( in summer ) will provide you with all you need to enjoy Rome which of course will seduce you like a winsome lover. My three young adult children and I enjoyed a week in Sally's apartment and wish we could have stayed longer. The four of us arrived from Barcelona with a week's load of dirty laundry and after stocking up on some items from the nearby market , we threw in a few loads of laundry and hung the clothes on the balcony to dry like true denizens of the Mediterranean. Trastevere train station is a short walk away which links you with the airport , as are bus and metro stops. Markets, restaurants , everything you need is just outside your door , and the neighborhood itself is truly delightful . We were stoked to wake up on a sunday morning to the pop up Porta Portese outdoor market visible from our living room window .
Stock up on plenty of water, a few items to prepare a meal or two and a great pair of walking shoes and hit the road in Rome. It's a never ending feast for the senses (especially when you find yourself lost which you will ,LOL ) and when you decide to return home at 2 am or so, Sally's apt will offer you a comfortable , secure and very Italian home base. It is not a 5 star hotel experience but a very authentically Roman one and for me at least, that's what it's all about . For those not familiar with the Mediterranean, there is no lift in the building, a common factor in most countries in this region, so if you cannot manage walking up two flights of stairs with your suitcases , beware.
Your amiable host Guiliano is available to answer your questions and will be hanging out on the balcony awaiting your arrival .
I would not hesitate to stay in Sally's apartment again and may very well do so !
Arrivederci Roma ! We WILL be back !
The apartment was comfortable. We really liked Giulianno, he was helpful even though he needed to be at the airport about the time we arrived. He responded promptly to text messages for help and was in general friendly and hospitable. The apartment was clean though the black mold in the bathroom tile grout was a little unattractive. Future guests can save about 10 euro on their cab fare if they do not tell the driver the apartment is in Trastevere. Our cab driver worked really hard to find the street in the area that is officially named Trastevere. Actually the apartment is located in Trastevere Portaportese across the Testaccio bridge. The #8 tram located about 3 or 4 blocks away was very convenient for getting to Trastevere and to many sights beyond or to buses to more sights. Giulianno thoughtfully provided eggs, bread and some staples in the kitchen that really helped us feel at home. My husband and I were travelling with our 3 young adult daughters and we all slept and ate breakfast on a slightly different schedule, so breakfast in the apartment was a great convenience. Overall this is a good place to stay if you do not mind walking a bit and don't need a 5 star hotel to be happy.
My friends and I had a fantastic stay in this apartment! The host was quite accommodating and flexible with meeting is on check-in and having a later check-out time. It's a great location, close to Train and tram which we used every day and the nightlife in Trastevere is great fun. There's also 2 supermarkets close by, and upon Giuliano's recommendation, we went to a local restaurant 'Fernandas' for a delicious, modern Italian meal and were really impressed with the high standard of menu we received for a great price.
Shower is good, hot water enough for 5 as well, even after cleaning up after dinner! Beds and rooms are comfortable and we found it spacious enough for 5 adults.
