Guest access

Guests have the house to themselves and have access to everything listed above. There is one bedroom marked "private" on the first floor which is kept locked and is off limits.

Interaction with guests

We will probably not have any interaction with guests during their stay but our local care taker, Mike, may be there to greet them and to check in and to check them out. If he is not available for some reason he will leave everything ready for the arrival and will be available if you need anything. Mike at ; Marti- or Joe- .

The neighborhood

The neighborhood is very rural. The road is made of dirt which makes for interesting traveling at times. The entrance to the driveway won't impress you and may be you won't be crazy about our .2 mile long, steep driveway BUT once you get to the open field the house and view will take your breath away. It feels secluded and peaceful....or like one guest wrote on his review...that it feels like a piece of heaven was plucked out and placed on our property.

Getting around

There is no public transportation close to the house.
Closest Airport: Burlington, VT
There is plenty of parking at the house

Other things to note

The Closest Ski Mountains are Sugarbush and Stowe which are about 50 minutes away.

Marti's home was clean, spacious and very comfortable. It is located on a large and scenic plot of land in the middle of beautiful Vermont. All 16 of us were able to sleep very comfortably. I would highly recommend this home to anyone and everyone interested in enjoying northern Vermont throughout the year. The property was very cozy and scenic for our February stay, and we would definitely consider staying here in the summer as well.

Marti's place is incredible. I came here with 13 friends (all in their 30's) and there was plenty space for all of us to sleep comfortably. The house is absolutely huge! It seemed like every time we opened a door we discovered hidden staircase, or another bedroom, or even another full section of the house. The location is great if you're looking for quiet. It's very secluded and accessed via dirt roads, about 30 minutes from Montpelier. If you're coming during the winter, 4 wheel drive is required. The driveway is up a huge, steep hill, and it definitely gave us some trouble. Marti warned us of this of course, but we decided to risk it with a RWD van, and did manage to conquer the hill with a little momentum. The property is absolutely huge. Great view of snowy mountains out of the front of the house. The front yard was great for sledding, and the hiking trails located out back were great, even in the snow / ice. I highly recommend Marti's place... we're already discussing coming back sometime in the summer so we can take advantage of the huge in ground pool.

Marti's home was absolutely gorgeous! It's secluded and when you walk in, you feel So welcome. My friends and I went for my sister's 30th birthday and we had plenty of room to play Board games and sit by the fire. The house isn't too far from Stowe or Waterbury either, so day trips were fun. We look forward to hopefully spending another weekend at Marti's home.

I stayed at Marti's beautiful house this past weekend with a number of friends and we had a wonderful time! The property was exactly as described, and we found ourselves wishing we had had more time to explore the gorgeous surrounding areas. Marti was very responsive to all of our requests and an invaluable resource in terms of our logistics and planning (check-in/out time, amenities, etc...). We all had an amazing weekend and hope to be back soon!

We had a long wedding weekend here for about 40 friends and family, and the location could not have been more perfect. It was fun to see the awe on people's faces as they each arrived. The pool was amazing, the side yard was great for lawn games, the back yard great for campers, the fire pit was lovely at night, and the front lawn was stunning for the ceremony. Plus the hiking trails on the property and the swimming lake just a twenty minute walk away meant no shortage of activities. The house itself had everything we needed and then some (extra chairs, cots, every kitchen utensil and giant servings bowls and dishes). The slightly older style of it made it all the more charming and comfortable. As other reviewers noted the driveway is a bit of a trek but we had a lot of cars and no problem with it.

Marti User ProfileMarti is a superhost.

My husband and I have 7 children, 2 fantastic daughters in law and 4 beautiful and awesome grand children. We built our house in Vermont to accommodate our large family and so that it would be conducive to our active lifestyle. But we also love the peace and serenity we get there. We can be as active as we want or lounge around and enjoy the tranquility. My family is totally engaged with each other because there is no cell phone service or internet access; no video game playing or seeing everyone's head looking down at some type of device. We get to play games, watch movies, or just sit around and talk. One of our favorite activities is to sit around the fire pit making s'mores and watching the stars! I love it!

All of our previous guests have found our home and land to be peaceful and serene; comfortable with plenty of space to spread out. It's a little shocking...and you may even experience some withdrawals...LOL....but when you feel the peace of being "off the grid" "un-engaged" "un-pluggged" or whatever term fits your generation....you may be pleasantly surprised how wonderful and freeing it feels. And if you need to check-in...you can just drive down the road till you get a signal :)

Upon your reservation I will send an email with some of our favorite restaurants, info on lakes, hiking, and any other new and interesting things I find along the way.

My house is your house. I hope you enjoy your time of peace, serenity, and family fun as much as my family does! Take lots of pictures and create new and long lasting memories!
