About this listing
Greenpoint has been our home for the last decade. In that time we've seen a lot of change. Every corner is evolving... new restaurants, shops come and go, strollers and dogs multiplying.
However, the constant has been an awesome loft; a quiet refuge from the city. My wife's great sense of style and comfort are the biggest reason for that, but even as you take in our incredible midtown views, there is definitely a sense of calm once you open the door!
Similar to the contrast between the city skyline seen from our roof and the bird sanctuary outside of our window, we built a loft that captures an NY artists energy and a quiet refuge. We our so lucky to live here and even more to share our home.
Cozy 800 square ft loft with views of city skyline. Rooftop access and a location 2 blocks from East River ferry or subway giving you almost instant access to New York city whether visiting or admiring from across the river.
Would you believe that Brooklyn is quiet? Maybe not all of our borough is so sweet and serene, but we are lucky enough to wake up to a bird sanctuary in our backyard. Our FOUR large windows look out to trees and beyond that, the midtown skyline. After living street-side in my first two apartments here, I thought New York really was the city that never sleeps. Now I know that some of us sleep perfectly well! You just need to be in our apartment.
Great shops and restaurants in our quiet neighborhood give you perfect home-base to attend Broadway shows or go shopping and sightseeing without having to stay in the city or pay NYC hotel prices.
Full kitchen, bath for two, queen size mattress in separate sleeping area and enclosed guest nook with full size futon. Wifi and air-conditioning to make your stay an easy and comfortable one.
We have fallen in love with the neighborhood to the point that my wife has opened up a salon called The Karcher down Franklin street. We are mainstays in this neighborhood, but when we leave on the weekend or for vacation we have loved sharing our home.
One of our favorite things about Brooklyn, is that you get to SEE the city and there is nowhere better to do that than our roof. Some of our neighbors are into rooftop gardening, but with our crazy lives, we like to put a blanket down for a beer or a picnic with wine.
We know you will enjoy your stay!
Per a recent request, a parking spot can be reserved for an additional fee.
Small dogs are allowed for an extra fee. Unfortunately we have cat allergies.
I always try to get back to our guests questions within a couple hours prior to their arrival. We are around the neighborhood often but mostly we stay out of our guests way. When they need a guide and I am able to step away from the toddler business, I have enjoyed a beer from time to time, but I think our guests have preferred feeling like our home was their home for a while.
You can use the whole space except for our son's room. There is also a rooftop with incredible views. Please, step quietly up there and don't make too much noise. Our upstairs neighbors have very thin ceilings and here every movement. They are very cool to a point. Please don't reach that point.
Interaction with guests
Usually, you won't see us. We have a toddler, so if we are leaving town, we head out early. As far as answering emails and phone calls. I make it a priority to get back to you within minutes or an hour at the latest.
I tell my friends and family in the midwest that Greenpoint has the feel of Sesame St. I am constantly running running into people I know, or just have seen so many times that it feels that way. Even complete strangers seem to smile and say hello here. I think seeing the river down every street seems to give us some mental separation from the city and you can feel it in the air.
Check out the East River Ferry, don't be afraid of the bus. It can be quite easy to get to Williamsburg for the L or Long Island City for the 7.
Shoe Free Zone. No parties, house-guests, late-night music (we love our neighbors). Please be aware of your cologne and perfume. I'm sure it is a beautiful scent but sometimes is stays long after you have checked out.
Take note of check-in and check-out times. I can arrange later stays on certain days for a $50 fee.
Lost keys may result in a $100 cash fee. This fee goes to one of our awesome friends for waking up or leaving their job early to let you back into the apartment. It has happened in the past...and our friends are incredible for helping us out.
I'm a songwriter, singer, performer, producer, guitarist, husband/friend/family guy, reader, athlete, thinker, actor, writer, drinker, eater. The order depends on the day you catch me.
If you rent our place, you are getting a clean, well-loved place that should feel as much like home to you as it does to us.
