Clean and convenient place to stay. There is room for 2 to sleep but best if they are a couple as there is one bed.

Our stay in Sausalito was perfect. The apartment is very spacious, very clean and so convenient to everything. Great to come home to after a long day in the City. We loved having breakfast at Fred's place, just steps away. Thanks again Erick. We look forward to next time.

When I arrived, I found that someone had lit incense in this apartment (the remnants was left all over the apartment) - and the STRONG smell of incense and smoke just permeated through the entire apartment. I have allergies, and after a few hours I was really congested and my eyes were watering. I tried leaving all the windows and doors open overnight - but the next morning it was still the same story. I then called Erick the next morning, and he seemed good to let me check out when I explained the situation (and my allergies that flared up). I cleaned up and checked out soon after. The problem is that I because I booked that apartment for 4 nights - I ended up still having to pay for the entire 4 night stay, despite only staying one night. Erick told me that I would only get some money back if he was able to rent the apartment out (and apparently it didn't rent out). I had to chase him about this after the weekend. Also, he did say he would try to work out some sort of refund but seems to have conveniently forgotten. I thought this was totally unreasonable. I think it would be totally normal for an ordinary guest to be sensitive to smells like incense/smoke (especially for allergy suffers like me!). It's for that reason you don't smoke in the apartment. It's also tough to get that sort of smell out of the apartment. I ended up having to go stay in a hotel in the city - which means I had to double-pay for 3 nights. This put a big damper on my vacation. :( To top everything off - beware of Thursday mornings. Apparently it's garbage collection day (according to Erick). I was awoken the next morning at 4am due to a loud garbage truck. And for the next three hours, there seemed to be numerous trucks coming through - all making very loud metallic clanging noises. (The back of the property backs up against a restaurant) Also - from a location perspective, you definitely need a car. I arrived via the ferry - and it was about a 20 minute walk to the apartment.

Response from Erick:
Maxine, Wow, I'm surprised that you were not patient with the refund policy, I was very clear that it would take time for me to speak with my partner and see if that was an option and it would be based on a few factors. I never insinuated you would be getting a refund, in fact I was very clear that would only be certain if we were able to rent the place again for those days. that didnt happen, you can contact Airbnb or you could have followed my calendar during that process. As I expressed via the phone the day you called me in regards to your allergies flaring up, I am sensitive to that as well and a sufferer of allergies too. I'm sorry that happened to you, this is a home that is exclusively used for vacation rental and unlike a hotel, where you could be transferred to another room, there is no other place I could relocate you to. Like a hotel or any other place, I do not have control over previous guests lighting up incense. After this incident however I will make sure to add that in the house rules, so this doesnt happen again. I have never had this come up in the past, and this is one of 4 Airbnb properties I have listed with well over 100 bookings at this point. I did visit the place the day you cancelled and checked out, I did not smell any incense, you must have cleared it out by then. In regards to the trash being picked up next door, they never come before 7am, so I'm not sure what you heard earlier than that? I personally lived in that unit for 7 years and I've never experienced that noise that early. I'm sorry this happened to you and added to your discomfort. I have a strict cancellation policy, and I would have been more than happy to refund you your full $ if someone else booked the place. They didnt, and I told you that would be the case when you cancelled, you were well aware of that. I also told you that I have a business partner and I wold have to check in with her. We are both very busy and there was no avoiding you or forgetting. I was always in communication with you, and quick to respond to your messages or calls. You called me a day before and asked if your sister could now stay at my place, I was happy to allow that and give you a discounted rate for the extra person. Considering I have never had any complaints about smell or scents and very few complaints about noise (this is a city, not the woods). I must raise my eyebrows, is it possible that you were unhappy when you realized you had to walk 1 mile, thats exactly how far it is from my place to ferry terminal. Did you forget that before you even booked it, I suggested you rent a car, as that would give you a lot more options to get around? Obviously you did forget that. Walking 1 mile is not far at all and there is a bus stop less than 100 feet away that will take you almost anywhere. not to mention always plenty of taxis at the ferry terminal that would be happy to take you and your luggage to the house for a short 5 minute ride. I think you realized that this place wasn't suitable for 3 of you, once your sister was added to the mix last minute, as I only have a queen size bed, there is a couch but that's probably only good for 1 night. You were well aware of my cancellation and refund policies and I was very clear with you what your refund would be, if any at all. I think my previous positive reviews speak for themselves. -Erick

Eric was a great communicator. He was readily available during our stay and spent time helping us with a technical problem. We were very pleased with his instructions for our stay and that he offered us off-street parking, a valuable perk in Sausalito. The location of his property was superb. Restaurants and coffee shops were within easy walking distance. This property is a great value for the money and we enjoyed eating in several times during our stay. The bright and sunny living room was very enjoyable. If you need a place to stay in the Bay area, I would highly recommend Eric’s home for value, location and fun.

A very enjoyable and successful first experience with Airbnb! Erick provided excellent communication during the entire process. The rental was very conveniently located, clean, and comfortable. The neighborhood is safe and parking is also convenient. An additional bit of info on the rental is that there is a staircase to the front door - that was helpful for me to know since I was dealing with a knee injury. Thank you for your hospitality, Erick!
