Vintage/Modern style Private Queen Bedroom + Private Bath in sunny Potrero Hill, SF. Small view of GoldenGate Bridge from the room and other SF views from the living room. 1 block from bus that runs straight downtown. Come hang and take in the SF culture!
You will have access to the the kitchen and laundry if needed.
Interaction with Guests
I work 10am-4pm so you might see me. I'm in and out on the weekends and sometimes not there at all.
Po hill is AMAZING. Wouldn't change neighborhoods if you payed me. Known for being one of the sunniest neighborhoods in SF plus we have awesome views of the city.
You can catch the 19 bus about a block from the house. This will take you downtown to the rest of the transit. Caltrain & BART is a few blocks downhill.
Other Things to Note
We are renovating parts of the house. All areas are accessible but some spaces are not the prettiest because they are currently getting a face lift. Mainly the entry way stairs, kitchen, and laundry room. If you don't mind this - we don't mind you staying :)
Smoking OK on the back porch. Don't touch the dogs without asking - they are usually in our room during the day and out roaming the house only when we are home. I would consider Pets depending on size and manner.
We have a family living underneath us so try not to come in loudly in the middle of the night. Just be considerate.
We had a great stay at Karl's house, we definitely recommend to stay there rather than in a hotel in a touristic area.
The location is amazing, residential, clean and quiet with beautiful views from every street corner. It is on a steep hill but bus 19 stops just in front of the house! To go downtown, you have to walk only 2 blocks down, you have either bus 19 or 10, then it is 15-20 minutes depending on where you are going of course (just have in mind that you can have to wait for the bus). We also used UberPool, you pay just $7 from anywhere in town!
We enjoyed the small grocery store right next to the house and a small coffee shop by the bus stop. Felt like we were living there, we really appreciated it.
Going to Karl's house was easy with a code replacing the key and he gave us all the indication. Karl was very welcoming and made us feel at home, even the two dogs were very social and cute. The room was perfect, bright and clean, and as everyone mentioned it I agree on the fact that the bed is amazingly comfortable! Also, the view from the house is breathtaking.
We loved our trip to SF and staying at Karl's house was part of it!
Karl had great instructions on how to find his place and get in should he not be there. We came from SFO using Ride Share and were let out directly front of the house. The room was ready when we arrived. This was our first experience with AirBNB & we were not sure what to expect. We were also not familiar with San Fran and found we had chosen a part of town with the steepest roads! Bus transportation one block away was very convenient for our escapades to the Wharf and other parts of town. TOO much to do in too little time. Great for single traveler, backpacker and young couples. Climbing up two flights of stairs not easy for older couples. No handrails on the inside of apartment, be careful. Dogs were GREAT! Needed pet therapy after leaving our 2 at home!
We enjoyed our stay with Karl this past week. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Karl made every effort to deal with any problems that arose. We enjoyed conversing with him in the short amounts of time we were all there and the dogs were delightful. At ages 67 and 77, we were pleased to be able to climb Potrero Hill from Whole Foods on 3 occasions.
Karl's place was a perfect refuge from the city. Bright sunny room, amazing view of the city, ample street parking - and his dogs are adorable. Highly recommended!
The room was great, the bed comfy, and the private bathroom joined to our room was very convenient. Parking was a little confusing at first, but overall not bad.
Prior to booking Karl we read all of his review, however, we found that our experience was different. The overall atmosphere outside of our private room made us a little uncomfortable. Karl provided some great advice with transportation, but overall Karl and our experience didn't meet our expectations based on the reviews. For example, the sink in our bathroom had been having issues for the past few airbnb guests, but it still wasn't fixed. While our stay was convenient for our San Francisco experience, we wouldn't stay again.
Staying at Karl's is an experience I would recommend to anyone. Better than any hotel, spectacular view, perfect location, wonderful and cozy house. You feel at home from the first moment you step in. Karl is a wonderful person and it has been awesome seeing San Francisco through his eyes. We will miss every moment of our time there.
Karl was a conscientious, communicative, and attentive host. One evening, he even drove my partner up the hill to grab food while I was still working! The neighborhod was quiet, safe, quaint, and readily accessible via bus and Uber. Our experience was perfect! The living room has a beautiful view of the city. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also clean and pleasant. The dogs were quiet and managed well. We're debating trying someplace new, or just coming back to the same place next year!
Midwest transplant living the dream in San Francisco. I like good food, good music and dogs. I run a dogwalking service in the city. I also enjoy live music and collecting vinyl records.
