About This Listing
Our safe & bright apartment comfortably fits 3 guests and is centrally located to public transport bus routes, a tasty & popular Chinese restaurant, a convenient shopping area, & clean, public pool. Enjoy your meals on our sunny patio!
We love our place because despite being in the capital city, we can wake up to the chirping of birds and watch a beautiful sunrise on our balcony. There are 2 bedrooms in our apartment available for your use. 1 which we use as an office (foldout sofa bed available), and 1 guest bedroom. The guest bedroom has a queen-sized mattress that comfortably fits 2 people. The office fold-out sofa fits 1 person.
The guest bedroom is yours. The office foldout sofa is also available should you need it.
We are on the top floor of our building so there will be a few flights of stairs involved to get to the apartment (but the view is so worth it; we promise! :). At night, we also have some dogs that live in the neighborhood so you may hear them bark once in a while. If you are a light sleeper, perhaps you will want to carry some earplugs.
You will be able to freely use all aspects of the house including the kitchen and the office room. We have pretty good WiFi. When we are around, we cook breakfast and dinner in the house almost every day and you are more than welcome to join us for meals (at additional cost of $4/dinner; $3/lunch; $2/bfast). Please give us a head's up if you'll be joining us for a meal.
Interaction with Guests
We both work in tech and work a lot (you will often find us glued to our laptops), but we also have flexible working schedules so sometimes we may be working from home.
We are happy to engage (or not engage) with you as much as you would like.
You are welcome to use all parts of the house except our bedroom (e.g. feel free to chill in the living room with us).
Kileleshwa is a family-friendly area. We feel safe living here and the compound has good security with diligent guards. We are walking distance to good restaurants, a clean swimming pool ($5 for all day use), and a new road (that is nice to run along). We are also near a Catholic Church.
We are on two bus routes, both about 5 mins walk away (#48C & #46). Buses come about every 5 - 10 minutes and cost between 20 - 70 Kenya Shillings (depending on time of day). I can recommend a reliable, safe taxi service that will cost 1,800 Kenya Shillings from the airport to our place.
Other Things to Note
There is currently ongoing construction of a new building next to our compound (as with most residential neighborhoods around Nairobi nowadays!). This unfortunately means some construction noise during the daytime. They finish by around 5:30 pm so it will not disturb you at night.
We do not allow pets. No drugs or smoking. We would expect you to behave courteously and kindly and we will do the same. :)
My stay at Angela and Laban's place was very pleasant. The place house/room is perfectly clean and you (the guest) have your own conveniently placed bathroom. Laban and Angela are both very easy going, generous and accommodating. Unlike a number of other accommodation places, the house is very close to a public transport (matatu) route which can conveniently save you some expensive cab fee. There are plenty of eating places less than 5 minutes by cab. Excellent stay. Stay there, and when you do, reciprocate Angela and Laban's hospitality.
Absolute amazing experience! Very friendly and hospitable! Highly recommend staying with them for many reasons including location, value, they were extremely helpful, and had a wonderfully organized binder with any info you could want! Such sweet and nice people!
The stay was great. Angela and Laban made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Angela had a handy book of things to do, places to see etc. They did a lot of effort to make our stay great.
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.
My stay with Angela and Laban was amazing! They made me feel very welcome, there was a cool little pack with all essential information of things to do in the city - I even got brought coffee on the morning I had a job interview! It's a nice neighbourhood and a great place, couldn't recommend more highly. Hopefully see you guys again soon!
I really enjoyed my stay at Angela and Laban's apartment. Laban arranged a trusted taxi to receive me at the airport and bring me to their place. The driver gave me a good price and was easy to find.
Laban hosted me for two days and was over-the-top great. He shared his meals with me and was readily available for questions I had about Nairobi.
Although they are in a very safe and quiet neighborhood, it is far from anything commercial. If you have a car or taxi to use, then this is a great spot. If you prefer to be on foot, you may want to consider something more central.
Overall, I highly recommend staying here!
Angela and Laban are great hosts! They're accommodating, friendly, very interesting, great conversationalists. The place is in a nice quiet area and easily accessible to central shops and restaurants. The apartment is clean, has great internet, a super comfortable bed, and a relaxing outdoor seating area. I'll definitely stay with Angela and Laban on future visits!

Aloha! I'm the research lead at iHub, Nairobi's innovation hub, and also founder of Waza Experience, an initiative aimed at teaching innovation and life skills to Nairobi youth. I am originally from Honolulu, Hawaii so whenever I am back, love to surf and spend time in the ocean! My husband Laban is a programmer who currently runs his own tech start-up called Ma3Route. We love to travel and enjoy the outdoors.
Clean pool walking distance from our house. Very enjoyable as long as you dont mind crowds of children (esp. on a Saturday).Oloitokitok Rd Nairobi City Nairobi
Tasty and value for your money. Generous portions. Nice outdoor eating area. Downside is that nowadays they are too busy (full of kids!) and play strange music selections...Gitanga Rd Nairobi City Nairobi
Good place to get lunch and some groceries. More home-y feel than many of the bigger malls.Nairobi Central
