Beautifully remodeled home in a hot, central location. Ground floor apartment with a wonderful layout featuring one bedroom, one bath, full kitchen with dining nook, and study nook. Living room overlooks garden*. The apartment is set in the back of the house and unlike other San Francisco properties, is very quiet. No complaining about city noise disturbing your sleep here! The perfect home base for your adventures in San Francisco.
*While our garden is free for the exclusive use of our guests, it is slated for a redesign and may not match the photos above.*
This area is called the Lower Haight and our house lies right between the Lower Haight and the Haight Ashbury neighborhoods. We are also on the up-and-coming, very hot (sizzle) Divisadero corridor. This area is extremely central and about 10 minutes to almost everywhere in SF!
Airbnb describes the Lower Haight as follows:
“The Lower Haight is an artsy little niche below Haight-Ashbury and shares a similar eclectic character, but its bars and restaurants offer a more intimate (and less abrasive) vibe. Although it still sports trendy hotspots with slightly seedy allures, they feel decidedly less traversed than its counterpart's untamed establishments. Lower Haight's cool nonchalance and convenient location make it a choice destination for casual entertainment, day and night.”
This neighborhood is also right next to the Castro and a stone's throw to hipster Mission neighborhood or Golden Gate Park. This home is in the middle of four parks (Duboce, Buena Vista, Panhandle, and the famous Alamo Square - where you can see the "Painted Ladies" - otherwise known as the "Full House Houses" - less than a 5 minute walk away).
If you’re looking to get downtown to the Financial District or Union Square, it’s just 15 minutes away (5 min walking, 10 min on the electric train that travels underground – beating traffic!) It’s the most convenient location outside of staying directly in Union Square.
For visiting tech workers, every major tech company shuttle stop is within four blocks of this location. Apple and *oogle shuttle stops are half a block away.
The Lower Haight is centrally located and 10 minutes to every part of SF by walking or public transportation. Our house is located on several MUNI lines including
* N-Judah, three blocks away. Electric car/train that takes you to Union Square/downtown/Financial district, Embarcadero or to Cole Valley, the Sunset and Ocean Beach. This is generally the fastest way to get to downtown.
* MUNI 6, less than a block away in front of the apartment on Haight (Union Square, downtown/the Financial district, the Embarcadero)
* MUNI 71, less than a block away in front of the apartment on Haight (downtown/the Financial district)
* MUNI 24, one block away on Divisadero (the Castro District and Noe Valley)
* MUNI 22, three blocks away on Fillmore (the Marina District, Noe Valley, the Mission District)
* MUNI 21, four blocks away on Hayes (Union Square, downtown/the Financial district, the Embarcadero)
Like most of San Francisco, street parking is difficult to get, especially after 5/6 pm. Parking is easier on the weekends. We are in a residential permit area (although there is metered parking just a couple of blocks away). Here are some general guidelines to keep in mind about parking in our area:
**Two hour parking limit without a permit, enforced Monday-Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm.
** Always remember to curb your tires on hills - we've seen several cars ticketed for failing to do this!
**In permit areas you must move your vehicle after the posted time limit (typically 1 to 2 hours) if you don't have a permit. The law requires you to move one block away or at least one-tenth (1/10) of a mile—about 500 feet. Do not drive around and then park in the same block, or you can be ticketed!
We absolutely DO NOT recommend renting a car. It's very easy to get around San Francisco without a car. However, if you're planning to go to Wine Country, down the coast, or off to see the giant Redwoods, you will need a car.
There is paid parking garage two blocks from our apartment. It's at the CPMC Hospital, Davies Campus. The rate is $4/hr or $30 a day.
This home accommodates up to 3 travelers. There's a luxurious queen size bed in the bedroom and a true-queen pull-out sofa in the living room. This top of the line pull-out features comfort foam - no bars or springs to worry about here! No sloppy sheets here either! We have 100% GOTS certified organic combed cotton sheets specifically tailored to the dimensions of the sleeper bed for a quality night's sleep.
There's a 43" television with Apple TV - making it easy to airplay movies you already have on your devices. Otherwise, we have a dedicated Netflix account where you can stream some of your favorites.
Please be respectful of our neighbors and keep noise levels down from 10 PM until 8 AM. Please, no loud or large parties.
Please respect the check out time of 11 am. This is so that the apartment can be cleaned thoroughly for the next vacationer! Your cooperation in making this work for all of us is greatly appreciated.
Smoking is not allowed inside the apartment, it is a non-smoking unit.
Please do not send packages here.
If something is broken or damaged during your stay please contact us before you check out.
You are responsible for any/all damage that is caused by you, to any property in/on premises. This may be taken out of the security deposit plus any additional damage will be billed to you.
I'd greatly appreciate before/when checking out, please advise me of any things that need to be fixed/replaced/changed ( burned out light bulbs, clogged drains, etc...).
Awesome place and area. This unit is worth every penny and more. We will be staying here again next time in SF because it's just perfect.
Great location! Nice place in lower Haight. Booking policies on the strict side came as a bit of a surprise to us as AirBnB has usually (for us at least) been a more relaxed option. Not an issue if you actually read the info provided by the host ;) Very calm apartment but the vent was loud for anyone staying on the sofa bed. There is a door between the vent and the double bed so if you sleep there the sound is a non issue.
Jeanne's place was perfectly situated for our stay. A convenient bus ride into downtown, the 6 and 71 run frequently and travel time was about 10-15 minutes. The ground floor apartment is as described, well furnished, clean and equipped with everything you need: a full kitchen (which was great for making quick meals for our toddler), Apple TV, some city guidebooks and a binder full of tips and restaurants in the area. Queen bed was super comfy after a full day of sightseeing! Although we never got to meet Jeanne in person, communication with her was easy, she was prompt with her replies, and very pleasant to deal with. Obtaining the key and instructions in regards to access and everything else was clearly outlined and understood. Overall, a wonderful place to stay. The neighbourhood was fantastic, just a minute walk up to Divisadero where a few blocks down you'll find yummy Little Star Pizza and Bi-Rite Market where they sell their delicious Bi-Rite Creamery ice cream! Also not far from the apartment along Haight are a few shops and restaurants which was very convenient if you don't want to travel far for more food options, plus a CVS at Fillmore for supplies, and a convenience store right across the street. All within a 5-10 minute walk of the place. I would definitely recommend Jeanne's apartment if you're looking to stay near but not directly in downtown, but also easily accessible to get to other city sights. Thanks Jeanne for a wonderful stay!
I booked Jeannes apartment for my parents who visited me in SF. Jeanne seems to rent the apartment full-time and has established a very professional service including very detailled informations how to enter the apartment, how to use its facilities as well as providing informations about things to do around. The apartment was quiet, very clean, centrally located as well as nicely furnished. We didn't meet Jeanne personally, but she was a professional host, answering very fast and providing all the information needed. All in all, I would totally recommend to stay here. However, one thing was disappointing for us: Usually, I have made the experience that airbnb hosts are very flexible and considerate. In first instance, I rented the apartment from (phone number hidden). Due to a change in my parents plans I asked Jeanne on 2.03. if we could change the dates and leave two days early (instead of saturday on a thursday). However, she insisted on her cancellation policy and we had to pay 50% for the days we didn't stay. She didn't do anything wrong and we knew her cancellation policy, but being a long-time airbnb host and guest it was my first experience with somebody being so inflexible. Especially, taking into consideration that we asked more than two weeks before. Even in hotels you can cancel up to two days before.
However, that is just a personal opinion regarding the service and idea behind airbnb. The apartment, though, was as beautiful as we expected.
Thank you for the kind words and feedback Sarah! When the reservation was made, it is stated our cancellation policy. We would have been happy to work with you if we had a notice of the change in dates at least 30 days prior to your checkin date. Thank you for understanding and I am happy your parents enjoyed their stay! Take care!
The reservation was canceled 7 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Jeannes place is great. Well equiped and clean. We did not get the chance to meet Jeanne, but she was responsive and information in her emails. Only the best recommendations.
We had a fantastic stay at Jeanne's home. It's in an awesome location with some great food and attractions around. They were extremely quick to respond to any thing we needed, I would definitely stay here again.
