The Space

Our cabin has been our hideout in Lake Tahoe for almost 15 years, set just two blocks off of North Lake Boulevard in the center of Tahoe City. We are an easy walk to everything this awesome little mountain town has to offer.

There are two bed rooms, 1BR with Queen bed, 2nd BR with 2 Queen beds, and a convertible full futon in the living room.

The bathroom is tiled with a stall shower and we installed a large (30 gal) hot water heater so hot showers are plentiful for all. The kitchen features marble counters, a gas range, dish washer, garbage disposal and lots of pots and pans. We often cook for larger groups, usually with the gas grill on the side deck that opens off the kitchen. There is hot tub off the back deck.

There is WIFI and a 42 inch LCD with direct TV and a Mac Mini connected for streaming movies and such. The stereo also has a pin jack for connecting your favorite music device or laptop. There are also several USB wall outlets built in, able to charge any device as long as you have a cord. We tend leave lots of chargers lying about, you are welcome to use them, but they should not leave the house (please!)

If you check the (website hidden) map you see we are literally in the center of Tahoe City, the house is in the flat section of town so there are no killer hills to walk or bike between us and all the restaurants, bars and shopping in Tahoe City. Safeway Plaza is 3 blocks away, as is Commons beach and lake access. There are bars and coffee shops even closer and the Tahoe City Golf course butts up to Grove Street just ½ block outside the back door.

The bike path runs for miles and the top of the hill past the house offers direct access to miles of national forest and fire trails (personally I drive up and bike from the top.)

We love the cabin because it is central to the town of Tahoe City. You can seriously spend a week here and never need your car.

Cruiser bikes available for your use if requested.

Interaction with Guests

Mostly Electronic. We are happy to help in any way, but we do not live in the area. We have a local friend who lives in the house part time (when not rented) and is able to swing by if there are any issues as well as neighbors that check in on the property. But most of our guests do not see us or him during their stay.

The Neighborhood

Tahoe City ROCKS! I lived there for years, our cabin is centrally located and you can walk all over town, restaurants/shopping and public lake access

Getting around

There are buses, cabs are impossible, you can bike in the summer, otherwise it is a car town.

  • Loved this place! Tahoe City was the perfect location for our trip (cute restaurants, bars, shops, beach), and we could walk to everything from the cabin. The cabin itself is a little bit rough around the edges, but it had everything we needed and was perfect for a Lake Tahoe beach/ski getaway. It was just two of us, but there was definitely extra room to squeeze in more people if necessary. Would definitely stay again.

  • Had a great time at Trip & Anita's Tahoe City Cabin. Location could not be any more perfect. Close to the main Tahoe City strip but still quiet and peaceful. Definitely saving this spot in my airbnb wish list for future tahoe trips.

  • We had a comfortable stay in this fabulous location. Hosts left great information about the house and were available to answer the couple of questions we had during our stay. I've spent many nights in Tahoe City but have never slept as well. The firm bed, lots of pillow options and the fabulous humidifier were winners! Hanging out in the hot tub beforehand probably didn't hurt either.

I am very likely to stay again and to recommend the place to others.

  • My boyfriend and our dog recently stayed at Trip and Anita's cabin in Tahoe City. We had a great vacation--the home was clean, welcoming, and they even provided dog towels and dog bowls for our pooch. The owners were very responsive, especially after there was some initial confusion over the dates we requested. They responded immediately to my queries. The cabin is on a residential street near Fat Cats (yum!) and central to many hiking trails and ski resorts. For dog owners, this is an ideal spot to vacation and I would definitely stay here again. A heads up that if you have a dog that's bad off leash you should be aware that the backyard isn't fenced, but there's a fenced dog park about 3 blocks away if you need to let him/her run around.

  • I stayed here with my parents, my girlfriend, and our 2 dogs for an extended weekend. This place was really great. Outdoor hot tub was perfect. The best part, other than the hot tub, was probably the kitchen. The kitchen was amazingly well-stocked with tons of pots, pans, basics (oil, spices, etc.), and even liquor if we wanted. The place was very spacious on the inside and also had a great direct tv and internet. The owners made us feel extremely welcome by leaving us doggie bags, doggie biscuits, towels, toys, and even toothbrushes, etc., if we needed any. The location was also great, 2 block walk from downtown Tahoe City, so we were able to walk to breakfast/dinner/drinks.

Overall, very great stay. Only thing that could've improved the place would've been a fenced in back yard or if the back patio was fenced in, but we would gladly stay here again and recommend this to anyone.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Trip and Anita's place. It was a bit like the Tardis—deceptively small on the outside, but fairly spacious inside, and cozy too. The place was well stocked with towels, blankets, sheets, games, condiments, silverware, dishes, cooking pots and everything you could need. We probably would have left half the stuff we brought with us at home if we'd known how well appointed the place was.

The location was really close to downtown Tahoe City and is a very residential neighborhood. If you're looking for a "cabin in the woods", it's not really that kind of place.

The hot tub was the highlight for me. It worked well, was clean and really soothed away those aches and pains that come from a few days on the slopes.

Thanks Trip - we had a really nice time.

  • Awesome, great location super close to town. They were very responsive with a hot tub issue. Recommended.

  • Outstanding location in Tahoe City. The cabin is about a 10 minute stroll off the main drag, close to bars, restaurants, shops, and the Lake. Everything was clean and four (tall) mountain bikers spent the weekend very comfortably. While I didn't get a chance to meet Trip & Anita, the communication was effortless throughout and they were very attentive to detail. We would definitely stay there again.
