This was our first AirBnB experience and we couldn't have been happier. The apartment was cozy, comfortable and thoroughly functional, stocked with plenty of towels and extra blankets -- and (website hidden) worked. Wireless worked. Parking:effortless. The drive into downtown and college areas: totally do-able. Neighborhood felt just fine to us. Hosts, not on-site, were very attentive.
Thank you, Erica! You and your husband are a terrific hosts. My high school-age daughter and I are very grateful to have found an affordable way to do a weekend college visit without any sacrifice of comfort, convenience or safety. If my daughter ends up at UPitt or Carnegie Mellon, I will be back for many more stays. :)
The location of this apartment was very convenient to downtown. We were in Pittsburgh for the Jazz Festival, and getting back and forth was easy with our GPS. The apartment looked like it does in the photos. Initially we were concerned about the neighborhood, but did not have any problems.
My "tweenage" son and I stayed at Erica's for 2 nights while visiting Pittsburgh. The place was as described; very convenient & just a short drive to downtown. It is located on a very busy street in a diverse, blue collar neighborhood. Getting the key to get in and out was a breeze & Erica had great suggestions for things to do to get a feel for the city. She offered & had ready a cot, but my son chose to sleep on the couch without any complaints. Overall, a good experience!
Our experience at Erica's little studio apartment was wonderful! From the first email I sent with her she was quick to respond and helpful with every step of our trip and she even checked in on us throughout our stay to make sure everything was going smoothly. The description was very accurate and her studio suited us perfectly for our weekend in Pittsburgh. She thoughtfully left information about the city for us to browse and take out menus from local eateries. She was truly a wonderful host and I would absolutely recommend anyone headed to Pittsburgh to stay at her cozy little nook.
Erica's place was just as described. The apartment was clean upon arrival; it was a comfortable stay for the weekend. Erica herself was very sweet. She was sure to make sure that we arrived without trouble, and offered her assistance if needed. On the board there is a promo card for Uber. We used Uber services for transportation to a concert while in town and that was great! I recommend staying at Erica's if you're ever in the Pittsburgh area. Thanks Erica!
Erica was very gracious about letting us check in a little early---we were coming in on a red-eye and exhausted.
Apartment was clean. It's on a fairly busy street, next door to a bar. But there was plenty of parking. Bed was a little uncomfortable and the place gets very little light. There's one tiny window that faces the main road.
The neighborhood is a little sketchy. When we told our friends we were staying in Mt. Oliver, everyone asked "Whoa, why on earth are you staying there? Are you okay?" (The neighborhood wasn't THAT bad, but not somewhere I'd stay as a tourist.)
This apartment is in Carrick, not Mt. Oliver as stated above. I'm not sure why the word "sketchy" is used to describe the neighborhood when nothing bad happened while the guest stayed here and he states that it wasn't bad? That terminology strikes me as shocking because I was more than accommodating and the guest also left a handwritten thank you note. I understand that different people have different opinions on everything in life. This area is very culturally diverse, as Pittsburgh seems to be a melting pot of various people.
Erica's place was perfect for 2 people. Conveniently located about 10 min from downtown. The place was clean and Erica was very prompt in her responses/directions. Pricing was definitely reasonable as well.
