About the Host, Glenn
I have been an Airbnb host since 2011, after my neice in Rochester told me about her Airbnb experience as a host. I originally started it with my wife Suzanne, as we both enjoyed meeting people from all over the world, being ambassadors to our community, and sharing our lovely space in a Victorian home in the historic Hamnett Place District of Wilkinsburg, a suburb of Pittsburgh. I have taken over the listing as host but Suzanne still supports the business and assists with the maintenance of the space. I am a physical therapist assistant working in a nursing rehab center, and I am also a massage therapist with over 20 years in the field. Body work is a value added service for my guests. I specialize in cranial decompression, neuromuscular and energy healing. I am a founding member of the Hamnett Place Community Garden, a planning commissioner, and I am active in local politics. I offer tours of the neighborhood upon request, to show off the revitalization projects in our immediate neighborhood that we as a community have initiated in our rebuilding phase. I love our community and I love to share it with all.
I enjoy being a vegan, the outdoors, gardening , books and movies, and public policy. I have been to Canada, Europe, the Carribean and the mideast. I especially like Germany, and would go back anytime. Having guests from Asia, Europe, Russia and so on has whetted my appetite for more travel. My favorite movies are indies, dark comedies, and documentaries or biopics. I like reading non fiction and classic novels, and the latest National Geographic. I can also be caught playing word and trivia games on my I phone, watching (Pittsburgh) Pirates baseball, and playing Scrabble. I am not religious but I am spiritual by nature and I belong to a mystery school of spiritual practice, whose guiding principles is love. I subscribe to the idea that we create our own reality from within, and we are limited by our thoughts, beliefs and fears. Being an Airbnb host has contributed to my personal growth and well being, and deepened my connection with the world community.
