Do as you please, but be respectful, that's all we ask.
1) I thought it would be difficult to find the Hale, but the directions were perfect! No problems finding the place at all. 2) I didn't expect the Hale to be like the pictures, but it was even better! My sister and I were amazed at how wonderful and complete a round room could be. Eric gave us an in-service on the stove; fridge and shower (which had flowers growing in it - how great is that!) and everything worked so simply. Everything we needed was there - except food. 3) With just the frogs and birds as back ground music, it was absolutely quiet and peaceful! 4) The best snorkeling I did on the island is just down the road! 5) Bugs - there were none. 6) Made the big mistake of only booking 2 nights!
We loved our stay at the lava rock hale in such a beautiful landscape! The hale itself is as cosy as shown on the pictures and has everything you need for some perfect relaxing days.
Eric was very friendly and gave us a lot of handy tips about interesting places to visit in the surroundings.
We would love to come back one day!
The Lava Rock Hale was an excellent experience for a couple of nights. It is "off-the-grid," but has an overhead fan, some outlets capable of recharging a camera battery and a phone, a small refrigerator and a small TV with a DVD player all powered by solar. The shower is open air and outside and the bathroom is a small outhouse with a flush toilet, but everything is really nicely apportioned. The drive into the hale is a fairly well-maintained dirt road, I would certainly make sure the first time you come here there is at least some daylight. Otherwise the experience was excellent, the place is really neat, Eric and Diane are awesome hosts, and the bed is super comfortable!
Eric and Diane were wonderful hosts! They greeted me, showed me all I needed to know for my stay, and left me to enjoy the peace. The pictures do not do this beautifully crafted Hale justice, nor can they prove to you the amazing aromas of all the flowers. Eric and Diane's directions were easy to follow and accurate. I didn't want to leave, I met some great people and had the most relaxing time in the perfect accommodations I could ever hope for. Mahalo xx
I highly recommend Lava Rock Hale. It is quite a unique experience that feels rustic while providing all of the creature comforts one needs while traveling. As other reviewers have mentioned, your only regret will be not booking a longer stay.
We were warmly welcomed to this magical spot that looked and felt exactly like the pictures. I felt like we had come to the best spot on the island for relaxing and exploring. It's gorgeous, and you can either just sit back and take it all in, or find those amazing nearby places to swim, snorkel, walk or just fill yourself with wonder. The lovely hosts were around exactly as much as you needed, and exuded warmth.
